I'm a bit mythed that he's already giving Cleary a pass for the next two years for not making the finals. Funny, the last coach never got that pass. Then again, it was personal with the last coach.

These comments keep coming up but Cleary compared to Taylor to me is chalk and cheese. Taylor really stuffed us. Cleary appears to be doing his best and his best is a lot lot better than Taylor.

I don't think Taylor is capable enough to be a first grade coach at this point and he has probably learnt a lot from his experience with us. It was a terrible decision to employ him.

Does Cleary get a pass if we fail to play finals in 18 and 19?

I don't know. I hate to say it but it depends. I think we have to see how we progress next year. I suppose if there are too many poor recruitment and retention decisions or obviously poor coaching Cleary goes. If though we improve and appear to be well coached then I'd like him to stay.

Funny how some people on here can’t move on from JT. They say it was personal but i don’t think anyone on here knew him personally. We could only judge him on playing style, players selected and results. And when we look at those he was a dud. I’d bet anyone on here any amount of money that JT will never coach another nrl team again.

We’ve already seen more from Cleary in the few months his been here than we did in 2 1/2 years with JT. As you said it chalk and cheese. Go the mighty tigers.

I’m so sick of reading in different threads that player X is on the market but we’ve got no chance or there’s no way player Y will come to the Tigers. WHY NOT? Newcastle have been a worse rabble than us but are attracting talk at least. I personally think we have a bright future. Perhaps all the garbage media is paying its toll? As is often said: perception is reality

We can sign top players. The question really is should we be spending top dollar on supposedly marquee players. I still remember the Blair experience.

I wonder how Cronk goes next year. He looked terrible playing for Australia.

For me Cronk never really excelled outside Melbourne and SOO structure. Not saying that he is not a very good player and brings with him great work ethic and influence.

But really not sure that he is worth $1m plus to a team like Roosters. May be proved totally wrong of course.

We can only hope the Cronk move upsets a lot of players and they stink it up next year.

As I have said previously the Roosters should be looking for a new coach ! Before continually staking the playing roster.

**McGillvary would 'consider' an NRL offer, but no clubs are interested**
>
England star winger Jermaine McGillvary claims not a single NRL club has tried to lure him from the Super League, but if they threw him a hook he would ''definitely consider'' testing himself against rugby league's elite.
>
The Huddersfield speedster caught the eye of Australian fans with his standout performance in the Rugby League World Cup tournament opener against the Kangaroos where he ran for over 200 metres, scoring England's only try in the process.
>
NRL fans were on social media begging their clubs to sign him, but surprisingly, McGillvary has not been contacted.
>
‘’I’m contracted (at Super League club Huddersfield) for three more years, I’ve never really thought about it. It’s just never crossed my mind,'' McGillvray said of a move to the NRL .
>
‘’I don’t think there’s ever been interest from Australia so it’s never really crossed my mind, but it is a nice place.
>
‘’There are a lot of quality players, it is the best league in the world.
>
‘’You never say never, but I’ve never had any interest.’’
>
The veteran winger has three years to run on his Giants contract, a deal he is prepared to fulfill.
>
‘’I’m on a good contract at Huddersfield, it’s not for me to put myself out there,’’ he said.
>
‘’I’ve got the security, I’ve got a nice contract. If clubs are interested that’s nice but it’s not going to be easy for me to get out.''
>
NRL clubs might have missed the bus with McGillvary turning 32 by the time his Huddersfield contract runs out, an age will he will be likely looking to finalise his last ever deal.
>
That said, when is anything a guarantee in rugby league nowadays?
>
If an Australian side attempted to steal him from the Giants, McGillvary admitted he would give it some thought.
>
‘’I’ve never tried to get out here or anything like that, I’m happy with where I’m at, but if it ever came across I’d definitely consider it, but it’s never come across really,’’ he said.
>
Facing the media on a scorching Sydney day with temperatures blazing, a shirtless McGillvary was struggling to keep his cool, but it was a change in forecast he could get used to.
>
‘’It’s different because we aren’t used to it, but it brings the best out of you because you have to concentrate a lot because you’re getting fatigued quite quickly,'' he said.
>
‘’It’s a nice day, I’d rather train in this than in the snow at Huddersfield.’’
>
Against the Kangaroos, McGillvary crossed over for his fifth international try in six appearances for England.
>
But the effort wasn't up to scratch, according to his own high standards.
>
McGillvary labelled his performance as ''lazy'' despite being one of England's most dangerous weapons.
>
McGillvary has scored 127 tries in 183 Super League appearances.

Anyone else think that once cronks contract is up the roosters will make a play for Nathan cleary both cronk and cleary ars off contract at the same time. I really think uncle nick will create a combined package father son deal that will lure both clearys over to the roosters

How do you know we aren't talking to them? Not sure why you are upset with people saying player x would never come here, because so far they are being proven right.

Gus will probably back up a dumpster truck of money and empty it all over Cleary's front yard.

The problem is that Gus has a lot of Stars coming off contract at the same time, and unless he gets some of Nick's brown paper bags he won't be able to keep them all.

Edwards is a bit overrated IMO. I'm not saying he's not good, but there seems to be this hysteria that he's a superstar fullback in the making.

Ball playing fullbacks > running fullbacks

SHHHHHH II

Lewis Brown’s days at Manly could be numbered.

Brown has one year remaining on his deal and is within his rights to see out his contract but there’s whispers that the Sea Eagles won’t stand in Brown’s way if he can secure a long-term deal with another club.

Reckon this guy would add anything to the pack? Maybe a little too similar to Rochow…

No!

There's a lot of cattle coming onto the market tomorrow for the 2019 season.
There's only 2 at the Tigers that I would consider worth keeping Esan Marstars and JJ (and that depends on how he goes next year).
I think some clubs will struggle to keep all their top players.
