RTS wants out definitely I hear WT are long odds. Most likely he’s going to Rugby. Won’t be at the Warriors.

That's the sad thing about all of these speculation threads on the good players that are now available - WT are always at long odds!

I read them every day, hoping for some news of a breakthrough signing for the Wests Tigers, but it never happens and despite us perhaps offering a deal to some of those players, they just ain't interested. The same handful of teams or even Rugby get the bikkies over us all the time. I can't deny that it really cuts, getting your hopes up only to have them smashed down time after time. I should probably just stop reading them, I suppose.

I guess all we can hope and pray for is that Tui turns out to be a revelation at fullback, better than Tedesco, Moylan, Hayne and RTS combined and Brooks grows in stature as a half and provides us with better than anything Cronk or Pearce could ever offer us. Only then will I feel better about the constant rejection of our club. Then of course we will end up losing them to the the Roosters and Sharks who will come hunting with offers they just cannot refuse because they _always_ have room for more!

Until we start to be a more competitive club players will be wary about joining WT, until then we have to be happy with the players we have purchased and hope they do a good job for us 😛ray: 😛ray:

That's what everyone says, yet Newcastle have had three consecutive wooden spoons and Nathan Brown as coach, but somehow they're always in the mix and considered more appealing??? There has to be something more to it than us simply not being a competitive enough club. And unless its geography, I'm stuffed if I know what it is.

Part of it is media driven.
The Telecrap have written some nasty stuff about us over the years, some deserved, most not.

Cleary comes in and refuses to answer Rothfield calls so we get more fabricated articles against us. Other players take it as gospel so back off. Cleary certainly took his time on signing with us and when he did sign he made it clear that our club is nowhere near as bad as some make out.

I don't think you are giving enough credit to the balance of our squad for 2018\. The fact we have established players with experience playing in the pack will help Brooks and Tui to play their own game with less pressure then they have had in the past. We also have pressure in the lower grades which will give Ivan options should they not be performing to expectation.

Too much pressure has been placed on the shoulders of one or two players in the past, whilst other positions received a free ride. I feel that is about to change and we will be a far more competitive team in 2018\. I doubt we will be good enough to make the 8, but we can then buy a couple of additional players for 2019 and mount some pressure.

Player acquisition is down to three things 1) Strength of Roster 2) TPA’s 3) Coach. It’s pretty clear these days Roosters, Sharks, Broncs, Eels can attract talent under market prices.

I think Cleary would continue with the NZ Islander approach as player friendships is a way around our lack of financial clout and outdated facilities.

I watched the Tonga vs Samoa game today and the thing that I went away with is this: I want BMM back!!!! He is a huge beast and his work ethic seems to be the reverse of what it was when he was here. The man is a massive wrecking machine who, I'd bet, eats junked cars for breakfast. He'd be reasonably cheap and under Ivan would be a revelation. Please, get him back!!!!

Elsewhere, Wests Tigers utility Jeremy Marshall-King has signed with Canterbury. Marshall-King, the brother of Benji Marshall, made his NRL debut in the final game of the season and had agreed to remain at the joint-venture outfit. However, he accepted an offer to switch to Belmore before the 10-day cooling-off period had expired.

While his dream was to play alongside Benji, Marshall-King is now hopeful they will oppose each other in first grade in 2018.

"Hopefully we can verse each other, I'd love to play against him," Marshall-King said. "There would be a lot of dirtiness, a lot of rubbing his face and that, but that's just how it is with brothers.

"I just want to keep going with my NRL career and play as many games as I can.

"It will be the first time I get a chance to do a full pre-season with an NRL squad and I can't wait to rip in."

Strange hat earlier this afternoon Wests Tigers twitter page listed him and Sirro as having signed second tier contracts, and a few hours later he has signed with Dogs…someone has jumped the gun!

Yeah we only have MWZ…we need more triple barrels JWH, DCE, SKD, SBW, RTS, JTS, NAS, SST, DWZ...missed out on em all and end up with SFA..

I forgot about MCK…we good now but minus a JMK..

Lurker reported the other day we’re not done shopping yet. Also mentioned Sheens is looking at a Tigers back rower.

Great result if he takes Lawrence and we pick up Joel Thompson.

I’m not too fussed about JMK going to the dogs

Ugghh. Cannot stand this term. Used to always drive me mad when I'd hear it used at school. Now people are growing up still using it, and that even includes players :brick:
