Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Big League really rapped Thomas Mikaele as a possible bolter in the WT's season breakdown for FG in 2018 and beyond

Anyone know what the Beasts contract situation is ??

He is one of the four development players signed to 3 year contracts (I believe).

Sporting news is reporting Mansour wants out of the panthers. Would he be worth a look?

Either Griffin is the worst coach in existence or someone is making up rumours. Both look pretty plausible to me…

Griffin is a mongrel to put it mildly , ask Jason Hetherington if you ever meet him

We have a solid but very deep squad at most positions:
Front Row: Packer, Mats, Twal, Sue, Grant, Felise
2nd Row: ET, McQueen, Lawrence, Aloai, Eisenhuth, MCK
CTW: Nofa, Milne, Suli, Fonua, MWZ, Thompson, Marsters
Fullback: Tui, Kev
Halfback: Brooks, Benji
5/8: Reynolds, Gamble
Hooker: Liddle, Mcilwrick

No real stars in this group but with 2 more to get on the bus hopefully we get a couple of solid starters. We will challenge for a bottom 8 spot and if other teams get injuries our depth will be a huge asset.

Agreed with that ….. there is absolutely no use getting hot under the collar about what may or may not happen next year or how our new signings are going to pan out.
My view is that we have a much better squad next year but the proof will be in the pud.

Well Big League have sort have lost it… 😕

He can't be a bollter for FG if he's ineligible to play..can he..

If rumours are true, i hope Clearys relationship with Mansour gets him over the line.

Man, Imagine a wing combo of Mansour/Nofoaluma.

Would we even need a forward pack? Hahha

Then he'd really be a bolter for a start then, wouldn't he?
Probably the biggest bolter in history.

448 pages and we are concerned about the definition of role models

Signing some bloody quality footballers so we don't finish in the bottom 4 yet again would be nice , wouldn't it

Focus people , focus

Hap….. player signings were 200 pages ago..

None came... :frowning: :frowning:

WHAT… No Fire Sale???

Knowing many footballers, I definitely sit on the side of caution when referring to them as role models.

The admiration of a role models is a gauge of values and behaviour to emulate, not imitate. While many would argue emulate and imitate are the same, I feel they are very different in there context when referring to a role model.

So when referring to rugby league players as role models, this should be reserved to fellow players, not children imitating what the see on TV.

Weren't some saying the same thing about Moylan?

Mansour is a great player, makes a big difference to that Penrith side his impact is immense. Always kickstarts there attack with a good run and takes pressure off his side.

In saying that we've got Mahe Fonua and I reckon he'll be one of our best buys, so we don't really need him.

I'd throw every single cent at RTS, watching him during the World Cup shows he hasn't lost anything and still is the great fullback that he was at the Roosters, there must be a curse at the Warriors cause his killing it in the World Cup.

Stats last night against Tonga who aren't a push over side.

2 tries, 4 line breaks, 17 runs for 222m and 8 tackle breaks

We'd be the only team really that'd be interested in bringing a fullback in, every other team already has that position reserved!

teddy23 - I agree with your points. I reckon Mansour is great but do we need him ? I think our squad is good and we need to target players for the spine and possibly gun forwards.

In some ways it's a good idea to sign players up now for short term contracts because we may perform next year. Our spine of Tui, Reynolds, Brooks and Liddle looks weak but I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of them turn into quality NRL players.

Even in the backrow we have options now. The lock which is close to a prop forward position is well covered. For edge backrowers we have Marsters, Aloiai, Lawrence, ET, McQueen and potentially another player will kick on.
