Who do Parra punt,to accommodate Hayne,I’d grab Gutho in a heartbeat. But i don’t think they would let go of him.

they had room under the cap although a player like Josh Hoffman might be looking to get out & go back to the Gold Coast

Is that the same Cap they blew out of the waters just some short 2 seasons ago…

gentleman, really? If Tui is a better than average fullback, you'd take it. He'll never be close to Tedesco and very few will.

So I tohught I'd give you all a comparisonas that sometimes helps - Tui Lolohea has played 22 NRL games at fullback - our fullback last year Tedesco played 21 games at FB last year so its fair to compare the stats of the 2

Player - Tedesco v Lolohea
Games - 21 v 22
Tries - 5 v 4 - Tedesco just in front
Meters/Game - 119 v 102 - Teddy just in front
Try Assists - 8 v 15 - Lolohea well in front
Line Breaks - 14 v 10 Teddy in front
Line Break Asssts - 16 v 15 - Neck and Neck
Tackle Breaks - 153 v 66- Tedesco well ahead but he is well ahead of anyone in the comp
Errors - 30 v 22 - Lolohea made a lot fewer errors
Effective tackle %- 68.3% v 72.4% - Lolohea has better defensive record
Penalties COnceded - 10 v 3 - Lolohea gives away a lot less penalties

So last years FB v this years FB you would say that Teddy has a better running game but Lolohea is more creative and has better defence and less likely to leave your side facing 6 more tackles through a penalty or a error

Thanks for the work in comparison.

I am guessing if we looked at Tedesco's figures from some other seasons they might be better? I haven't looked it up but I suspect 2017 wasn't one of Tedesco's best years statistically.

What I think your data shows is something we already saw last year - if you want to develop attack then throw the ball to Lolohea, because he can be explosive for himself and his team-mates. If you want to create line breaks throw the ball to Tedesco, because he's difficult to tackle and splinters the defence.

I personally think Tedesco made an unacceptable number of poor decisions this year when given the ball close to the line - his pass and kick options were generally terrible, and if not that then he just ran the ball himself - and oppositions are ready for that. I know he took a lot of the attack pressure onto himself, but I think this just showed he's more of a support player than a developer of attack.

Tedesco should do better in the Roosters where he isn't constantly the primary threat.

Lolohea better value at less than half the price

Lots of comparisons, opinions and speculation - I guess by the middle of next season we will actually know whether Tui is a champ or a chump in the fullback role. I'm really praying that it will be the former, for his and the team's sake…and for the fans sanity!

"Will never be close to Tedesco????

The difference is (and it is very important) that Tui is a team player - he occasionally has a go himself but generally speaking he sets up his outside backs. This will be more prevalent when he plays FB.

Tedesco on the other hand plays for himself, getting worse as he gets older - he squeezes his outside backs by going himself 95% of the time - when he realises there is no where to go he off loads to his outside and invariably go into touch or he produces a forward pass. The other teams have woken up to him and that is just one of the reasons why he was so ineffective in 2017\. At best he is a player that will score running off someone else. Tui is a creator.

Tedesco is becoming another Hayne and we can all see how that is turning out.

You can keep your Tedesco - I'll take Tui any time.

I'm hopeful that Tui, Brooks and Liddle step up next season. I think it's unlikely that all three will but I'd love to see it happen.

If they do I reckon that we have quality all over the park and we can have a good season next year. If not I reckon we will have to slowly recruit or develop players in those positions and have a slow time rebuilding.

Teddy is a great player who generally did a great job for us in an underperforming side on and off the field. Shame it didnt work out, but comparing Tui to him at this point in his career on any level - not even close.
Tui has played very little fullback in FG lets just see how he goes before comparing him and his worth to any seasoned FG fullback.

Apparently the Eels are offering us French. But i'm not buying into that rumour.

Very wise because it's wrong. I was told we asked and they said no. Forget French, think more Brad T or Hoffman.

Taka had signed with us before but JT put the kybosh on the deal and we put up with his mate Rankin instead.

I heard Hoffman back to Titans. Eels won’t release French or Gutherson as reported they are good players and Hayne is a 1 year deal. Heard Hayne will be heading up the royal commission into banking also.

Any insider on here know who it is?

Who what is? Pascoe sounds pretty clear that no one will be signed unless someone comes on the market.

We only have 28 confirmed signings for 2018\. According to Pascoe, we've signed 29 so an announcement is coming

I can only count 27
Packer, Matulino, Liddell, Mcilwrick, ET, McQueen, Twal, Grant, Sue, Aloai, Lawrence, Rochow, Brooks, Reynolds, Benji, Nofa, Tui, Suli, Fonua, Thompson, Eiso, MWZ, Kev, MCK, Gamble, Felise, Marsters.

Not sure if Helena or Sironen are counted but I can’t see 29.

4 development Gibbs, Smith, McIntyre, Mikalele I can think of.

I read somewhere that the young 18 year old from Cronulla was signed into the top 30, not the development sq. Smith I think??

That’s what I was saying on another page. I’m sure I read it somewhere as well.

Your missing Milne.

Funny enough the official list on the West’s Tigers website has only 27\. I worked out they have left out Chris Lawerence. Unless there’s something the club isn’t telling us I think it’s pretty poor that our longest serving player isn’t is forgotten about. Can someone inform the club of this?
