@ said:Once again people are wasting a sh.t load of time thinking Tui is about to be overlooked for RTS.
RTS is not coming to the WT, firstly I doubt the Warriors would give him a release and secondly if he did get a release , he would be heading to a club with a proven track record.
The so called reason he is unhappy at present is, he thinks his form has gone backwards at the Warriors, so I really doubt he would go to another team with average track record.
As I have said a million times, we are a few years from being in a position to attract a marquee signing, we have to earn some respect in the market place…and that will take time. In the meantime we have to pick the eyes out of the rejects

This is prob true. But do we really want a bloke who won’t take accountability for his own form? Sounds like Teddy mark 2.
@ said:@ said:@ said:Centres. He's too good for ISP.
Yeah that could actually work. We are lacking a bit of pace in the backline so having RTS and Tui both there could be good.
1\. RTS
2\. Nofo
3\. Suli
4\. Tui
5\. Fonua/Milne
tui wont play centres….he came to tigers not to play centre or wing for warriors

@ said:@ said:@ said:@ said:No way do you play Tui in ISP - as it stands now, whatever 17 you pick, you only have one player in the backs that has the x factor and that is Tui.
Buy another player with the x factor and put your first x factor player in ISP.
Sure - that would be one of the reasons we don't play finals - stupid decisions.
If we get RTS where would you play Tui?
I would leave that up to Cleary.
However, I would like to think Cleary will honor his promise of giving Tui first crack at full back. He never promised him the position, just that he would have first crack at the spot. Tui did not come to us to play in the centre, wing, on the bench or to play in ISP. You can't say one thing and then when the player burns his bridges offer him something different. You can but it is not ethical.
Personally I would not be going after RTS as a full back as we have one. In the event we were in the market for RTS - it may be a possibility to play him at 5/8 and Reynolds in the centre. Shoot me down if you will but on RTS's 2017 form, I am not convinced he is a better FB than Tui - maybe on Rorters form but that was a much better team.
I am hoping I am not proven wrong (have been on numerous occasions) but I think Tui has amazing talent that we have only seen glimpses of so far - I am sure his speed will pick up in the off season as he loses excess but gains muscle, reasonable short kicking game, good passing game, sums up situations quickly and well and his general defence needs work although he always has a go. His cover defence at full back on occasions has almost been Sattler / Raper like - herding the attacker to the sideline and smashing them over the sideline. His reading of the game would also be a great asset at FB in directing the team. Hopefully he will get the go he deserves - if he fails he then would only have himself to blame and would have to take up another position.
Personally I believe in him and I look forward to seeing him giving the position his all.
Firstly, RTS is in a completely different league to Tui.
Secondly, I couldn't care less what was said to Tui when he joined (and I highly doubt he was promised anything - if you have proof i'd love to see it). Ivan's job is to win and in doing that he needs to field the best possible team he can. If Tui is the best fullback we have then fine, but if we find someone MUCH better (which RTS is) who wants to join us, then we need to sign them up quick smart. It's a loser mentality to say otherwise.
If we get RTS the only place Tui could fit in would be in the centres. He'd be our third best 5/8 after Reynolds and Marshall IMO.

@ said:Even if we were to get RTS, it wouldn't be till 2019 anyway, so we still have 2018 to worry about. And the front runner for 2018 is Tui.
@ said:I may not be a case of Ivan not wanting to pick Tui. But more Tui wanting to play In the halves and not at fullback.
Tell me once where you hav heard Tui mention he wants to play fullback because I haven’t.
Five eight is his preference and maybe Ivan has had a tough time trying to convince him of an alternative.

Don't you think if Ivan wanted him to play fullback in 2018 that would have been a major part of the conversation before they signed him. Ivan's too smart not to make that crystal clear. At this point he won't start ahead of Reynolds.
