No but we openly accepted someone who knocked a guy to the ground and then stomped on his head.
You want to look at the meaning of "Double standards".

Not to mention the love for the grub which I have never understood.. the bloke is a star in the nightclubs but nowhere else.

That's a bit savage - crucifying a guy for one small incident in a night club. You obviously had an axe to grind before that incident.

Also I don't think 475k for Matulino and 650k for Packer (both Internationals) is overpaying. We were and never will get Crichton at the time because he wasn't on the market. Were we to not spend anything in the hope that he may come on the market.

Where did you get that figure for Matulino, Russell cause what I saw was $700k. Just wondering because thats a big difference.

It was on the Forum when we signed him and everyone said he was a steal at that price.

I'm pretty sure it was Smoking Gun who said he was 475k. He also said we were talking to Matulino weeks before the journos caught on so, I'd be pretty happy to trust those numbers.

We paid Packer our highest paid prop 575k p.a.
Matulino was not wanted when we signed him due to injury Newcastle and Warriors went cold.
The figures reported on WT are nonsense designed to make us look incompetent. The numbers would add up to cap of 12m if you add them
Up.

Interesting. If different sources/people report such different figures very hard to determine who really knows and who is talking through their hat. Just found his contract particularly interesting because of the vast difference in reported figures.
Regardless hope he is good value for us.

I really couldn't give a rat's what we paid for Matulino. As long as I see him playing at his best in our jersey, that's all I need; the money is a matter for administrators, coaches and CEOs, although it does seem that we have plenty of those on our forum.

Say we're paying Packerlino 1 million between them, that is a lot better value than what we were paying the fake captain and Ava.

I can recall reading Matulino's deal being worth $475.

So this is way off then …
http://i.stuff.co.nz/sport/league/91908273/ben-matulino-agrees-terms-with-wests-tigers-report

Who knows? Could be including TPAs, or could be wild speculation from someone with no info inside the club. Or could be right.

The 475k figure came from somewhere here who has inside info. I think it may have been Yossarian.

Im fairly certain I recall an interview with (I think) the Kelly dude who came to the club this year on MMM. It wasn’t long after the Matulino signing, he was asked about it and the reported price tag. From memory he actually said ‘it’s more like $450-$500kpa’

I take every player's price tag with a grain of salt.

Yeah true , especially hen you have no idea if the figures quoted are with or without TPA's

Actually it would be interesting to find out how many players in the NRL actually get TPA's

Don’t count your pennies with Packer, he is our best acquisition and should be captain next year. He’s a tackling machine with Arthur Beetson style offloads, throw in the mongrel as a bonus!

Not as many as you would think….Kenty said on NRL 360 earlier in the Year something like 6 or 7% of players receive Non-Club Affiliated TPA's..The elite players and personality players of course..

I don't think many journeyman of standard NRL player would be attractive to sponsors for promotional purposes...

So we are talking on average 2 players per club

Until we get to the Boosters who have 60% of their rosters in TPA's or about 17 players

Kent made one good point the other night , since TPA's were introduced the salary cap has tripled

Do we really need them at all or should they be limited to say 3 players per club

I think any sort of restrictions will be viewed by the RLPA as a restraint… we need to find another way.

Make them all take up celebrity boxing

These blokes have the best deal , they've ever had , lets see what they offer now they are supposedly part of the game and its integrity / finances

When they don't do anymore than they currently offer , shove that down their throats and take them to court for falsely taking liberties on our games behalf

Watch them squirm out of that
