I for one wish we still had him, he and Chris Lawrence and Brooks are the last players to come through the grades at WT, ( stand corrected if I’ve missed someone) next year we will have a team made up of mainly mercenary Kiwis who are playing for the bucks, they would never consider having 2041 tattooed on their body, so I hope Ivan has a means of committing them to a team, mentally as well as physically

Well there is Sauaso Sue, Moses Suli, Jacob Liddle and Benji Marshall still from our junior base..

Then again the focus on junior development in the past few years whilst something to be proud of hasn't really translated to much on-field success…

The recruitment of mercenaries as you say is a step in a different direction for Wests Tigers..we have bought in more first grade experience than we ever have since early 2000's players from Clubs that have had success as well as representative players....IMO that can only be positive for the youth we have in our squad..

Nofo? Can't see him getting a 2041 tattoo though, maybe a 2560.

How could Nofoaluma slip my mind..I shall go stand in the naughty corner..

Point is though sole focus on Junior development hasn't led to much success..I think that 3/4 of our development players have come from other junior systems is also a change of direction..

We’ve been a club that’s big on holding on to juniors before giving the market a jersey, and I agree we haven’t had much success at all.
While it’s a loyal trait and one to admire, successful clubs besides Brisbane who have a monopoly on the Queensland system are not as loyal to their junior systems.
Maybe it’s worth a try to change the formula to see if results change.
When the sharks won 2 years ago there wasn’t many shire boys in that team.

I’m getting tired of reminiscing about Woods, Tedesco and Moses, they are all great players but they never had any intention of resigning with the Tigers - it’s a pity they were too gutless to show their hand instead of leading us all on. Lucky Ivan was able to see through them and drew a line in the sand. Woods fell in love with Graham and Klemmer so I can understand him making a lustful decision, the other 2 were BIG HEADS that fell in love with themselves.
Let’s ditch the history and start talking up next year - please, I want that warm and fuzzy feeling back again.

You’ve only been here a couple of days mate, how do you reminisce over a couple of days.
No one is game to mention the obvious, we have become Warriors mk2 without their talent, will be a long season 2018

There's only one coach whose ever gotten anything out of the Warriors consistently. Want to take a guess at who that is?

There are a few more locals, with the club emblem kissing Nofo at the top of the list. The postcode tatt seems to have had little to do with WT.

Consistently bad

Our squad for next year looks solid right across the park.
A team is on the verge of nailing Jermain McGillvary.
Would anyone be upset if that team was us?

Roosters have picked him up 150K !

Nobody would be upset but I think the money could be better spent on a forward or saving up money for 2019.

Ig we were to buy a minimum wage player for #30 then we could start front-loading a few contracts so we have more room to sign off-contract players like Cordner, Lowe, Thompson, Kikau, Cleary.

But I think the club will just wait until quality becomes available and no other clubs have any space, which is a smart strategy.

I think if your rumour is true then McGilvary will be off to Newcastle. They have plenty of money and they are lacking quality outside backs after Gagai left.

I really don't know what Woods has to do to please some people. Over the past few years he hardly played a bad game for us, played long minutes and was extremely durable. On the rep stage he was much the same, okay he had a average 3rd SOO game, but was brilliant in game 1, and from what I saw of the World cup he was our best front rower. I think his loss is twice that of Tedesco.

Okay he is thick as a brick and said some pretty dumb things and IMO has made a pretty dumb move going to the dogs, but I still rate him highly as a footballer and I think we will miss him and his personality

Hes a costly, lazy arsed slack defender

I think the whole team had defensive issues. I would not signal Woods out. I also think that he was being asked to play to many minutes because there were no other options, and that would not have helped his ability to defend, or should I say the quality of his defence

He is lazy. As eceidenced by a video someone posted earlier in the year of a game against the Dragons. Saints made a break and he was the last one to get back in line, despite being the freshest player on the field, having only come back on the field a minute earlier.

Ask Blocker if Woods played too many minutes….

Way to build an argument GNR.One incident out of how many career games, defines a player. Yeh right.

It's an example.

Putting my issues with his leadership aside, woods is a good prop, his strengths are his metres gained and he is strong when standing and looking to offload.

For premium prop money he is a bad buy, because he can be trampled in defence. 95% of his tackles "do the job", very few sting and every now and then he gets steamrolled. He is probably one of the best props in the game ATM, but a guy like Matt Scott will go down a legend, and I think Woods will be remembered as a very good player, but not a great.

His current status in the game is probably helped by the fact his stats are excellent and there are only a few premium options in his position.

Gee this sounds like barrel scrapping to me, One lapse in concentration and he has a video uploaded to prove what?
If one our new props rips in all season defends with grit but has one bad game or makes a bad decision then what? Do we upload a video and say"gee mate your lazy time to pull ya socks up".
We finished 4th in points conceded this year….Cant blame one man for a team effort.
