Niel Henry, coaches a great style that has become more relevant in todays game than ever before, NRL experience (Raiders, Cowboys & Titans) assistant coach to the Maroons since 2008, current coach of the Junior Roos, Nrl coaching consultant, not a bad bloody resume.
I wanted him to coach us ahead of Madge, I thought I was right then, now I'm 110% he should have been our coach. The bloke just doesn't talk about culture and accountability, he is regarded as the best tactical mind in the NRL, hasn't won a premiership but is a two time NRL coach of the year and most importantly appears to be a damn good human.

Henry had a massive fall out with the players at Titans and also struggled to get their attack going. He'd be a good assistant for sure, not sure he would handle head coach

Was all due to Hayne from memory? He had them travelling pretty well and then they signed Hayne (who he didn’t want) and it caused issues. Henry is a very good coach when rebuilding.

Tuilagi upgraded. Front load some contracts. Mbye likely gone. Chance to grab Lomax. Contract offers to Smith Shields, Egan Butcher and Hellum Luki. Plenty of good news to come. Stay positive.

Well we’re about to bring back an ex coach we sacked so why not bring back an ex captain who sacked us?

Woods Tamou

Anyone >Woods>Tamou

I know many bag Woods out now and deservedly so ...but at the age of 19 he was probably only bettered by Glenn Lazarus as a prop and how he coped with NRL

Whoever stupidly taught him to back into defensive lines should have shot ,hung and quartered

It is what it is

I'm all in favour of a different direction with coaching but I think I would only replace Madge with either Bellamy or Bennett. Bellamy's resigned so either Bennett or we let Madge see out his current contract. Nothing changes then we get Sheens to have a look around and see what's available. Toovey would be similar to Madge, Flanagan not that appealing. Always like Elliot and he knows his footy but too long away from coaching now and prob wouldn't want the challenge.
It would have to be an up and comer like maybe Ciraldo? Idk who else is out there. English coach?

I'm not really interested in Bennett

I haven't seen the Kelma Tuilagi upgrade announcement ..can someone point me in that direction..

So does anyone know why we haven't announced our 30th signing for 2021, given the deadline was on Sunday?

Tuilagi upgraded

still begs the question why it wasn't announced.

I remember that well. One huge negative ego caused a team that had been travelling OK at the time to spiral. A stint in Her Majesty's may be reducing Hayne's opinion of himself.

Some interesting suggestions...

Good to see some left-field but realistic ideas floated. Also, the poster seems to be thinking of areas the team needs to recruit in, not just any star player coming off contract.

Just an educated guess but we must be close to signing them as they have not been resigned by there respective teams and they are all good young players with big futures.

I remember the game they beat us at Cambo when he kicked the field goal, the press conference after, they asked Nathan Friend what Hayne had said after he kicked it, and he said something to affect of “I think it was something like this is my house” and he rolled his eyes. I don’t think he was popular, and bringing the US bravado BS didn’t help things either. What’s the norm over there makes you look like a moron here.

All still off contract for next year

Henry is a very underrated coach IMO, especially with clubs undergoing a rebuild. He got NQ into a position where they won a GF a couple of years after he left, and had the Titans heading in the right direction until the Hayne debacle which wasn’t his fault. Then Brennan made every mistake imaginable. I think the year before they played finals in a squad that wasn’t great.

I joke about Woods but at the end of the day he easily makes our team. Our forward back is wildly overrated on here.

Agreed. He still averages more meters per game than all of our forwards bar Twal.

So did Tamou before he got here. In saying that, I do think for the right price he could be useful.

If it's a choice between Woods and re-signing someone like Amone, I'd pick Woods. We need players who can play big minutes and not fall apart.

I see nothing in Amone.
