We have some options. Move AD to the centres. Gildart/Talau/Roberts may do the job in the centres.

Hopefully Blore and Tuilagi come good.

I agree with you though that our edges are ordinary and need a massive improvement. It's just not that bad. I'd love to get a quality player like Thompson.

Centre is definitely weak for us.
The mentioned players are not in anyway strike players.

Weak? It doesn't exist mate....
This club hasn't bought a first grade centre to the club since Paul Whatuira in 2004.. (No that is NOT a joke)
It seems like we forget the position exists.

We also need another starting backrower, We have plenty of back ups - But we need a top tier back rower.

And for gods sake - BUY A 'KEN CENTRE

Tim Simona was a good centre.
But yeah, this has been a obvious concern for years.

I really hope it is addressed before season 2022 kick off.

All the talk from Madge leads me to believe he really likes Talau and he's in the plans going forward which doesn't fill me with much optimism...

Simona could have been the Games best winger... All his highlights are from Wing Play. He played OK at centre - But would be lucky to hold that position in any other club at that time. Fantastic Winger - OK at centre when needed.
To my point though, Tim came through 20's - We haven't bought a quality centre to the club since 04...
And haven't really developed any either..

Chris Lawrence says hello.

Also, Dean Collis looked absolutely amazing for one season, then he fell off the wagon for some reason.

Did you see the bit where I said "Bought a quality centre to the club"
Lawrence was developed - Played various positions (including wing and lock) before his 18 month stint at centre that fuelled the rest of his career...
Keeping in mind you could hardly consider CL a first grade centre for the last 10 years.

Tell him I said hello back....

I see where you also said "And haven't really developed any either.."

Rowdy says Hi again.

Sorry Russell the professional Negator...
- I just don't consider a guy that was below average with every excuse from "He's still young - to He Hurt his leg" for all but about 18-24 months of his 15yr Career "Developed"

I mean like real players, at real clubs - Developed over a couple years and then played to a first grade level for most of the rest of their career...

If Rowdy still has his hand up - Well, that is exactly my point.

ps: That's 1 player you've argued (Not well I might add) out of the 170 odd we've introduced to the team since.

Yes - thank god someone sees Chris Lawrence the way I did. I use it to describe some of my work colleagues.
Great people, but they’re not worth their pay packet.
I call it the Chris Lawrence Theory. That guy was so overrated. Don’t take this as he is not a nice guy. I’m sure he is. Who wouldn’t like a guy with two first names for their name. That’s instant trust right there.

Don’t get me started but as I have alluded to before, I’ve been kicked off this forum for making the same comments about Lawrence and having an opinion.

Self-induced persecution complex aside, in my opinion, Lawrence was a world class centre prior to his hip injury. Making the Australian side and NSW squad was testament to that.

So, to say he was 'so overrated' , which is a tier above simply just 'overrated', is categorically false.

But that's the beauty of opinions, eh.

There's plenty of other mate...
You're not alone.

Chris is a lovely fella, and great clubman - But it's no co-incidence when an inform Benji Marshall stopped Stepping, Jigging and Running around in Circles to confuse defensive lines - CL was also barely sighted in good form again...

It’s public knowledge because his management have leaked it to the media. It’s called fishing, they all do it every time.

Agree. For 99.99% of the time, contract negotiation stories are put in the media by the player manager.

Tigers have nothing to gain from making recruitment public knowledge. The manager, on the other hand, has everything to gain. Whether or not the story is true, it puts pressure on the Bulldogs to resolve the issue to stop distractions. As you say, it also puts all NRL clubs on notice that there may be something available with Thompson.

Yes but after the hip injury he was busted and we were paying good money for him. And he was rubbish.

I doubt we've made an offer.
Like we didn't make offers to Harley Smith Shields and Egan Butcher but everyone thought we did...

Probably just discussions being had.

Demps, how do you know we didn’t make an offer?

I had a chat with Pascoe on email the other day and he told me....

Call me silly but I believe that statement.
At the end of the day, the club probably doesn't share too much with us fans though... even the ones with closer contact.

No not with "closer" fans either. For example The Ambush has regular calls with The Duck (that's what I call Pascoe, from that first episode of the doco) and he basically denies all recruitment rumours, or gives a very strictly true response.

For example, if Duck says we did not make an offer to Egan Butcher, I am 99% sure we technically didn't make an offer, even if we had several conversations with his manager about a move. Personally I think that means we, as fans, need to really understand the difference between being interested in a player (like viewing a house) versus actually going hard for a player (getting to the pointy end of a house auction). And I also believe many fans misunderstand the difference, which is why they get upset when rumoured targets don't sign. I am pretty sure Tigers look at far more potential signings (and speak to far more player managers) than the forum ever hears about.

As far as I am aware, the people who have "good oil" have direct links to non-management like sponsors, maybe players, player managers, or staff at other clubs. That is also why some of the inside information changes abruptly, because the information has not come from a direct source involved in recruitment.

The actual Tigers management responsible for recruitment - they get almost no advantage naming recruitment targets in public, unless it's a big fish player.

his manager started this merry-go-round, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't him leaking info again. two sides to every story.

This is correct.. I would go as far to say that 99.997% of every player movement that ends up in the media is initiated by player managers..

That’s the best way to have an auction which is what the managers want. Even if there is a desired location, you want competitive tension to drive the price up.
I reckon the articles in the media about players talking to this club or that club should start with “going once, going twice!”

Hooper has no idea.... Looking to re-sign LL has nothing to do with trying to fix a bent out of shape roster.. He is a clown.
I personally think we have now fixed the roster problems with Mbye and Packer going and now just looking to add the right pieces. LL would be a good guy to extend for me as he seems to be the funny guy that boost morale around the place plus he is a good football player

Not sure how it's bent out of shape now? Getting rid of Leilua, Packer and half price MBye. That's 1.6mill there. Our salary cap is looking in real good shape considering the bargains we have or Laurie 150k, Stefano 330k etc

We would have 2 mill at end of the year. Upgrades for sure but we still can get a couple of rep players if we want.

Too many bongs and too much KFC creates a Bent, Out Of Shape roster.

As much as I dislike the media, guys like Brent Read and Chammas are all over it before it hits the randoms.

I have a feeling we will get 1 or 2 'good news' signings over the next week or two. Slowly strengthening the squad. Good times ahead...
