Maumalo and Nofo, aren't the fastest but they definitely aren't the slowest.

Nofo, we only see run sideways usually though.

Both are tidy finishers and are capable of doing their job...

Nofo needs to get back to his best. The lengthy contract has appeared to kill his motivation and desire.

With some better centres inside them, they could both take their game to the next level.

100% wingers just hang around footballers, we need footballers for them to hang around.

Beau Ryan looked like super star franchise player on the wing, falling over the line and making some easy hit ups.

If Nofo can get back to his best or 2020 form, I'm happy with these two going forward...

As @GNR4LIFE said, 4 year contract... Get use to Nofo and his lack of effort.

Beau Ryan had Chris Lawrence, Benji, Tim Moltzen and Tim Simona playing with him. All were quick.. We have Brooks and Laurie. We have a huge issue with lack of pace.

The good old days.
100%

I wouldn't mind looking at some of the Dragons up and comers.

Tyrell Sloane, 1 of Danes best mates.
He looks like he could become a JAC clone on the wing.

On a dev contract as well till 23. Should try force St George’s hand a bit

With Thompson it's win win for us. If we get him with Dogs chipping in 350k a year then all good. If not then he stays and keeps thier salary cap out of whack and we continue to wait for a good pickup. We have front rowers so no rush.

From James Hooper

Not sure how it's bent out of shape now? Getting rid of Leilua, Packer and half price MBye. That's 1.6mill there. Our salary cap is looking in real good shape considering the bargains we have or Laurie 150k, Stefano 330k etc

We would have 2 mill at end of the year. Upgrades for sure but we still can get a couple of rep players if we want.

“If we want” ?

Yeah like it’s that easy for us.

And the guy then immediately admitted he had made it up

It's not hard to start a rumour these days.

Don’t sign that bulldogs prop, I forget his name.

He is contracted til end of 2023 as I understand and wants to secure his long term future? reeks of ‘I want to get my pay sorted and slack off’

See, he is contracted until end of 22.
He has an option for 23.
Now if the talk of moving him on is correct and the dogs want to move him on first. Unless he decides to activate his PO for 23 before agreeing to a deal with another club, another club could be taking on the full deal from 23 onwards.
Depends entirely on how cooperative the Dogs are with the situation.
Can a club refuse a PO payment if they move them on beforehand? I know I read with Brisbane and Lodge they activated it to allow them to spread out the funds over more time.

Yes which is why this doesn't make sense. Thompson should just stay there and take the option up. Unless the Dogs need him gone to get a hooker/halfback.

We would offer him 600k for the last year I'd imagine. So-

Year 1/2 - 450k + 300k (dogs chip in)
Year 3 - 600k

Anything other than that we should wait.

We have some options. Move AD to the centres. Gildart/Talau/Roberts may do the job in the centres.

Hopefully Blore and Tuilagi come good.

I agree with you though that our edges are ordinary and need a massive improvement. It's just not that bad. I'd love to get a quality player like Thompson.

Centre is definitely weak for us.
The mentioned players are not in anyway strike players.

Weak? It doesn't exist mate....
This club hasn't bought a first grade centre to the club since Paul Whatuira in 2004.. (No that is NOT a joke)
It seems like we forget the position exists.

We also need another starting backrower, We have plenty of back ups - But we need a top tier back rower.

And for gods sake - BUY A 'KEN CENTRE

Tim Simona was a good centre.
But yeah, this has been a obvious concern for years.

I really hope it is addressed before season 2022 kick off.

All the talk from Madge leads me to believe he really likes Talau and he's in the plans going forward which doesn't fill me with much optimism...

Simona could have been the Games best winger... All his highlights are from Wing Play. He played OK at centre - But would be lucky to hold that position in any other club at that time. Fantastic Winger - OK at centre when needed.
To my point though, Tim came through 20's - We haven't bought a quality centre to the club since 04...
And haven't really developed any either..

Chris Lawrence says hello.

Also, Dean Collis looked absolutely amazing for one season, then he fell off the wagon for some reason.

Did you see the bit where I said "Bought a quality centre to the club"
Lawrence was developed - Played various positions (including wing and lock) before his 18 month stint at centre that fuelled the rest of his career...
Keeping in mind you could hardly consider CL a first grade centre for the last 10 years.

I see where you also said "And haven't really developed any either.."

Rowdy says Hi again.

Sorry Russell the professional Negator...
- I just don't consider a guy that was below average with every excuse from "He's still young - to He Hurt his leg" for all but about 18-24 months of his 15yr Career "Developed"

I mean like real players, at real clubs - Developed over a couple years and then played to a first grade level for most of the rest of their career...

If Rowdy still has his hand up - Well, that is exactly my point.

ps: That's 1 player you've argued (Not well I might add) out of the 170 odd we've introduced to the team since.

Don’t get me started but as I have alluded to before, I’ve been kicked off this forum for making the same comments about Lawrence and having an opinion.

Queue the account deletion in T minus 5 minutes.

Self-induced persecution complex aside, in my opinion, Lawrence was a world class centre prior to his hip injury. Making the Australian side and NSW squad was testament to that.

So, to say he was 'so overrated' , which is a tier above simply just 'overrated', is categorically false.

But that's the beauty of opinions, eh.

Yes but after the hip injury he was busted and we were paying good money for him. And he was rubbish.
Thanks Mrs Lawrence.

Simona was a tremendous player. His highlight clips are outstanding.

Is this the same Simona who was betting on games and in 2017 against Canberra with the 8 on the line and booted the ball to the back fence over the deadball line

I assume you mean 2016? He played 1 or maybe 2 games in 2017.

can someone ask/email Pascoe if they are going to extend Steffs contract now, for another two years, or upgrade him so that he doesn't get poached end of next year when other clubs can.

I know we have him for another two years but other clubs already be in his managers ear about him holding off.

We should upgrade his pay, for the next two years because we got him cheap, IF he signs for another two years on top of that.

What makes you think we got him cheap???
2nd to that what would you want him to be on?
I estimate his on 300 this year and 400 next.
It’s the only way we can get these youngsters interested in coming across. The Daine Laurie deal for 21 was an abnormally due to the fact he already spent 6 months contracted to Penrith and we brought him over for a further 6 months. If you think about it doubling your wage in 6 months ain’t a bad deal. But Daine probably pocketed 250-300 by the end of this year.

I didnt think that was his job (well according to Pascoe and Hartigan's explanations on how it works). He states what we need, and other find it. He's already said we need pace.

So Maguire, NRL Coach, is not involved in recruitment because it is not his job?

I have just read the news release on the Maguire thread. Maguire has a lot to say about recruitment.

Except when it’s going well it’s because of Hartigan and if it’s going poor it’s because of Maguire. Yes we know.

If you have watched Gildart play i doubt he would be Englands best centre,if he was Australian he wouldnt be in the top 20 centres here.He is another Hardaker

Funny that Cleary was trying to bring him over in 2018 before he decided to resign long term with Wigan…..
