Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Woods doesn't add anything to our pack. He's slow and a bad lateral defender - we've got Twal who is good at everything Woods is good at but better, same as Seyfarth and Tamou is another Woods type forward

We need another Mikaele type forward who runs hard and offloads, not another Woods. A very sideways move

I wouldn't use Mikaele as my prototype but yes was are short at least one forward that has impact in attack and defence, not another metre eater that is a workhorse in defense, but provides little impact.

When Benji recently spoke about the welcomed return of Sheens and then also about the amount of the negativity that gets reported about the WT then added saying that this could be the reason why good players aren't coming here but those players are even going to clubs like the buldogs, and because good players want to go to clubs who have a good vision? Really? What would this good vision be that they have and makes these good players attracted to clubs like the bulldogs?
I'm very interested to know,
The WT have been working on this for the past 10 years but apparently and according to Benji, the bulldogs have a better vision then ours?
What could be this good vision that the bulldogs have that the WT don't have?

The bulldogs major sponsor once said, "We want to be the next generation family pub for the family club."
Could this be the reason?

Helium Luki still unsigned from what I can find.

Obviously need to balance experience and youth in the roster, though our experienced players are the ones that have let us down this year which means experience is good but has to be the right fit still

I think Helium is a gas player.

He should be light on his feet.

He wouldn't be able to speak though or everyone would fall down laughing.

Does Musgrove fit that role, though still think we could have another to cover in this area as well?

The dogs have made grand finals in every decade since the 60s. We've made the semis 3 times in 22 seasons.
I know which club I would back to get back to the top first. Especially if I was gambling with my career.

He does but his defence was woeful in 2021, our biggest weakness in the forwards is the lack of a guy that hits hard in both defence and attack.

If tuki fixes his defence

He ticks the offload box easily

Not Mikaele as a whole but when Mikaele feels like Charging onto the footy and producing good offloads, that's what we need more of ?

You are the first person I have seen speak highly regarding him and I am concerned he is a bit of a lightweight.

I get where you’re going but “family club” to describe the dogs over the last 20 or so years is ridiculous- had stupid amounts of off field atrocities and behind the scenes back stabbing to make Game of Thrones look like a kiddies show.

Still an octave lower than Blocker.

Imagine this team
Teddy/Papps
Thompson
Suli/Marsters
Moners/Seve
Addo-Carr
Marshall
Moses
Brown/McIntrye
Matterson
Sironen
Woods/Sue
Marshall-King
Taupua/Ava

They all use to play for WT. And we stuck with Brooks and Nofo. WTF

I have high hopes for Tuki, I hope he puts in a lot of work this offseason, loses some of the puppy fat as that will improve his game out of sight. Look at the transformation Stefano made last off season.

No I agree with you fully mate. The top sides have 2 or 3 really damaging runners of the football, we have about 0.5 in Mikaele. That .5 is the most important thing we need to add to this team.

Other than the fullback/wing, that is a bog average team full of players who cant get a run at their current team. Marshall King? Woods? Marshall? Seve & Marsters?

I genuinely think our current team beats this team.

I was thinking the other day that the perfect 14 would be a forward that can also play hooker.

Cameron Mciness would've been perfect, starting 13 and moving to 9 to allow the hooker a break... however he is now signed, sealed and delivered to the sharks.

Examples are players like Radley, Cheese or going back to guys like Elijah Taylor and Lewis Brown.

Lock, second rower types than can and have also played hooker also.

Long story, short...
If we can move on from forum favourites... Nofo, Brooks, Mbye(Gone) and now Liddle, with news of him being a detractor from the coache.. I'd be all in on moving Liddle on and backing young Jake Simpkin... then bringing in, the forward/hooker type for that 14 role.

The guy I'm thinking of is Ray Stone.
Seeing him play 9 for Parra right now in the semi final and he's definitely doing a job.
Great defense and hits hard.
Has a crisp pass.
And he's off contract I believe.

Thoughts?

Sorry @Russell

The club has discussed using Hastings in that role.

Guys like Twal and Seyfarth are good but they aren't big physical game breaking forwards. Like you said the top teams all have a guy or two like that. We need a JWH type prop
