Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He seems to have only one play and that’s the crash over the line from dummy half. It’s how he seemed to score all his try’s in the lower grades, and it’s how he scored the two in first grade. He looks very meat and potatoes. Liddle at least has a bit of spark and will break into the back field.

Simkin looks like a "1 trick pony" but he is young so that hopefully will change over the next 2 years.Liddle is the better of them atm but needs to work on his cv.I would hate to see either of these 2 moved on for a 32 year old who has had 2 acls over the last few years,he used to be a very good player but the game seems to have passed him by.

Liddle is already mid 20s

Liddell is 24 , I think , and cook didn’t even look like a first grader until he was 26.
That’s the timeline I’m talking about .

25 this month 26 next year

Wow...in 10 years time Liddle will be 35...quick, flick him now

Liddle passing was pretty poor last season

Passing was fine until he was Gassed...
The middle was much worse defensively when he wasn't there....
Still have nightmares of Simpkin standing there flat footed looking stupid when George Burgess strolled passed him.

So one must be replaced.

simkins will learn alot more of hodgson than he will off liddle he cant even kick the ball from dummy half andhe gets bumped of in tackles most of the time .Its hard but one must go if hogdson comes which I dout anyway Simpkin needs a full season with wests in reserve grade to help his game growing.

That’s unfair.
Simpkin was very very good in that game up until that last play.
He was one of the main reasons we should have won that contest.

Speculative only, certainly doesn't change what I said...
Simpkins' first game was good - The others he was found out.

No not speculative. He was very good.
Simpkin is a better all round footballer and under a good mentor will accelerate into an asset.

I agree.
If Wests let Liddle go, I’m likely to become a tad huffy.

God there is some negative people on this forum.

So it's not ok to be negative about the club ...but people neg rep .....this place is just full of hypocrites of the highest order .....gutless ......argue your point instead

It would be good if the club top brass read this forum but I am definitely sure that they don't. The result is that this forum becomes a depressive site to read, especially during covid lockdowns etc.

There’s is some NRL hierarchy chatter today about the importance of having more balanced rosters and have a competition where teams begin each season with genuine hope for competitiveness.

That includes the possibility of a rookie draft. So Clubs with some $$$ cap space like WT may hold off some money to see how any of this that pans out and if it impacts 2022 recruitment year.

Not interested in a draft to be honest.

PVL is an absolute moron. There's one big reason there's a huge gap between the top and bottom teams more than ever this year... THE STUPID RULES HE MADE

A draft wouldn't help struggling teams at ALL. Broncos let go of Walsh and Walker, we let go of Paps, Paseka etc, bad teams already suck at identifying junior talent, as if they'll make smart picks in a draft! Harry Grant went unnoticed in reserve grade for years!

He should reverse the rules back to 2019 rules if he wants the competition to be closer.

Honestly a fair gap had formed between the top few and the bottom few well before PVL got involved. The main difference 2020 was the size of some of the floggings metered out, but on the ladder it ended up about the same.

His rules created one of the most uneven competitions in the sports history. Only 3 years ago was there one win between first and eighth

Don't get why people need to crap on one of our promising rookies in Jake Simpkin all the time, let the kid develop and see how he goes. Clearly he's worth putting time into

If you like Liddle that doesn't mean you have to hate Jake Simpkin fellas, end of the day it's about the team not individuals 😂

Totally disagree - maybe in the future...he certainly is not the better footballer at the moment.

Could part of the reason they might be happy to move Liddle due to rumours of him being one of the agitators behind the scenes regarding Madge? Not sure if the truth of that but there has been some commentary on this forum regarding that and potential other players whiteanting. So it’s sometimes more about what whether a players is a negative influence around the club rather than their actual playing talent. Anyone have any insight on that potential angle?

This is all hearsay methinks.

If Liddle is against Madge or causing problems - HE NEEDS TO GO NOW.

If he isn't (there is no evidence I have seen) then people saying it's true are just rumour mongering. We need proof at the very least.

This is quite ironic. As soon as you criticise players like Simpkin or Hastings, it’s seen as unfair. Yet for players like Brooks, Noffa and Liddle, it’s open slather. To the point where a lot of it gets personal. I’ve seen Brooks called an imp, Noffa is constantly referred to as Nofoalooza. But it’s the ones who criticise darlings like Simpkin and Hastings that get called out for being unfair and should rein it in. Classic double standards.
