There’s is some NRL hierarchy chatter today about the importance of having more balanced rosters and have a competition where teams begin each season with genuine hope for competitiveness.
That includes the possibility of a rookie draft. So Clubs with some $$$ cap space like WT may hold off some money to see how any of this that pans out and if it impacts 2022 recruitment year.
Not interested in a draft to be honest.
PVL is an absolute moron. There's one big reason there's a huge gap between the top and bottom teams more than ever this year... THE STUPID RULES HE MADE
A draft wouldn't help struggling teams at ALL. Broncos let go of Walsh and Walker, we let go of Paps, Paseka etc, bad teams already suck at identifying junior talent, as if they'll make smart picks in a draft! Harry Grant went unnoticed in reserve grade for years!
He should reverse the rules back to 2019 rules if he wants the competition to be closer.
Honestly a fair gap had formed between the top few and the bottom few well before PVL got involved. The main difference 2020 was the size of some of the floggings metered out, but on the ladder it ended up about the same.
