Don't get why people need to crap on one of our promising rookies in Jake Simpkin all the time, let the kid develop and see how he goes. Clearly he's worth putting time into

If you like Liddle that doesn't mean you have to hate Jake Simpkin fellas, end of the day it's about the team not individuals 😂

I don't hate any of our players...
But the claims on here that Simpkin is a far beyond player than Liddle at this point are outright outlandish at best.
I can't see why anyone wants either gone if we get Hodgson - We have 3 Grades of Football and 3 Hookers.. With Bench use and Injuries, Surely there's room for all of them for at least one year?
(Pending Peachey)

Reading this thread, There seems to be question marks over all 3 of them. I see upside in all of them - And there's room for all of them.
Simpkin is probably still on his Development deal

Liddle is already mid 20s

Liddell is 24 , I think , and cook didn’t even look like a first grader until he was 26.
That’s the timeline I’m talking about .

25 this month 26 next year

Wow...in 10 years time Liddle will be 35...quick, flick him now

Liddle passing was pretty poor last season

Passing was fine until he was Gassed...
The middle was much worse defensively when he wasn't there....
Still have nightmares of Simpkin standing there flat footed looking stupid when George Burgess strolled passed him.

He gets gassed after 15 minutes though. Then you have 65 minutes of his passes missing the mark and hitting the deck.

And you have nightmares about 1 Simpkin missed tackle on debut? What about Liddle telling people to drop off TPJ and letting him score? Or the game being on the line against the Warriors and the ball being played and the hooker Standing 15m away with hands on hips gasping for air?

This is quite ironic. As soon as you criticise players like Simpkin or Hastings, it’s seen as unfair. Yet for players like Brooks, Noffa and Liddle, it’s open slather. To the point where a lot of it gets personal. I’ve seen Brooks called an imp, Noffa is constantly referred to as Nofoalooza. But it’s the ones who criticise darlings like Simpkin and Hastings that get called out for being unfair and should rein it in. Classic double standards.

The Simpkin thing is the same as brooks and Liddle . People built up their expectations , and when reality didn’t meet their fairytale , they turned on the player . It was obvious from 2017 brooks was destined for above average first grade half eg. Matt Orford career . But nope because he’s not the next Andrew johns , then he’s somehow a reserve grader ??
Same thing for Liddle and Simpkin is headed that way as well . They evaluate them on what they want them to be rather than what they are .

Simkin looks like a "1 trick pony" but he is young so that hopefully will change over the next 2 years.Liddle is the better of them atm but needs to work on his cv.I would hate to see either of these 2 moved on for a 32 year old who has had 2 acls over the last few years,he used to be a very good player but the game seems to have passed him by.

if simpkin is a one trick, name me one or more tricks that liddle has? I'll wait. Is it his superb service? Kicking game? Defensive expert? What is it? Whats his many tricks

There is always the option of letting one of the 3 negotiate with another club if we get on a roll with 2 who work well together. As it stands atm though, Liddle is no more in a position to be moved on than Simpkin is. So keep them both.

That is the best thing I have read in a billion years - Every forum is the same...
Fans think you buy the 2 best in every position for your club and 1 just plays in Reserve grade until the 1st best gets injured.
It doesn't matter where the club is based - The players only play for Money, And Money doesn't matter - Just pay them more (there's no limit)

People are people - I shop at Woolies because I know what is where, I work for who I want to work for, and work with who I want to work with - And I live where I want to live..
Job offers come and go all the time - But very rarely do they gauge my interest... Because I know my game, and what is going on where.

We simply can't afford the best players in every position, We've got no Beach or Lifestyle to sell - Stuff all TP's - We're not winning (Not that it helped when we were) Liddle isn't Cameron Smith, May well never be...
But I'd certainly rather Liddle playing for us than against us, And us having The next best of what we'd realistically get like a Billy Walters, Danny Levi or Michael Lichaa....

That's Liddle's only trick though. He is a very good runner from dummy half. I really wish he had a first grade standard aerobic capacity so he could utilise it more often.

But other than that he has no kicking game, is weak in the contact in defence and his service from dummy half is really bad.

If we miss Hodgson then Liddle is the better option right now. Simpkin has missed the best part of a season and a half of footy with COVID shutting down KOE Cup and that's vital development time. But Hodgson right now even though he's not where he was a couple of years ago is still IMO a much fitter and more well rounded hooker than Lids and also provides the spine with on field leadership, game management and direction which we had none of in 2021

Roosters come to mind here. Not quite, but they had enough in reserve that they still made the finals with their positional backups.

I get your point though and agree. We need to keep the okay ones we have; the alternative is scary.

What’s Simpkin’s trick though? As I said in an earlier post, it seems to be crashing over from dummy half. He doesn’t look a threat with the ball. There was one game I remember, he took off from dummy half about 30 out, with a retreating defensive line, I thought “here we go, let’s see what he’s got”. And he took the tackle. So disappointing. Lot of people will point to the fact he’s 19 as an excuse. But so was Farah when he debuted. And you knew from the moment he made his debut that he was going to be special. Some players just have it. The “he’s only 19, give him time” doesn’t cut it when he hasn’t even shown any glimpses. If he showed flashes of brilliance like Walker or Walsh who are both younger, you could understand. However there has been literally nothing from Simpkin. No moment that has made you go “gee that was good, this kid has got something”. Believe me, I’ve been waiting for it. The only thing he seems to have on his side is the fact he’s 19. But that doesn’t mean it’s a given you turn into the player everyone claims. Given the hype around him before he debuted, I just expected him to show more.

we should give Simpkin the same 5 years and 64 games we have given Liddle

Hopefully he doesn't spend that much time on the sidelines.

God there is some negative people on this forum.

So it's not ok to be negative about the club ...but people neg rep .....this place is just full of hypocrites of the highest order .....gutless ......argue your point instead

I am being negative because I am using my head. I have looked at our roster, I have looked at our recruitment and I have looked at how the club has reacted to a terrible decade.

My heart is always positive about my team, thinking 4 unknown super stars are going to turn up out of the blue, but my head says…your dreaming

Will being negative improve anything?

No but it beats the frustration and disappointment attached to being positive about our club. Last preseason I actually thought we could be in for a good year, how silly was I.

Liddle has a more rounded game than Simkin he tackles better engages the line and is far more likely to make a break as i said. The service from dh is about the same.As i said Simkin is young and has it all to learn, you can only go so far diving over from dummy half.He needs time and at the moment i would much rather have them both at the club

Sorry but there's a massive different mate, Brooks and Nofa have been consistently average for 5+ years, people have good reasons to criticise their performances when they are on big salaries and underperforming. The name calling is dumb but I don't do that

Hastings and Simpkin seem to cop it off people purely because of personal grievances (liking Liddle more or wanting Brooks to be 7) and are written off, told they're terrible or even said they should be swapped before they even get a chance to prove themselves!

Criticise players on how they go with us all you like, that's your right as a fan. Having a go at someone because you like another player better, before they've even proven themselves, is ridiculous

End of the day it's about a team not individual players.

I think that he has to be a centre, possibly Curtis Scott.

If the Raiders' cap position is bad, someone would need to be released?
