Ew a Greyhound. Good luck to him!

Downvote!!!!! LOL

Singleton were my most hated opposition.

My two boys are greyhounds. I would have been a thoroughbred but now they are the scumbags of the area!

The guys that played for Singleton in my age group were dirty players and their parents were trash, so my dislike comes from there. I remember one game when we were about 12 or 13, they were going the squirrel all game, we ended up punching on and they walked from the game with their parents abusing us. Worst game I have ever been involved in.

So I take it you don't enjoy being squirreled.

I think that says more about you then anyone else mate. lol

It says a lot about squirrels.

Speaking of which, did you know Germans commonly struggle to say "squirrel"?

H o g a n!!!!

I’m curious to see if the lure to pick up Hodkinson is to change tack and direction in the spine. Could very well be obtained to offset the loss of Brooks, I guess the first domino has fallen so we’ll wait to see what move is next.

What domino has fallen?

Barnstorming Eels back-rower Isaiah Papali'i looks set to knock back a massive approach from the new Dolphins franchise for 2023, leaving his future a two-horse race.

Papali'i's manager Daniel O'Loughlin has told Wide World of Sports that the much-improved forward doesn't want to leave Sydney.

That reduces his options to staying at Parramatta or accepting a big offer from Wests Tigers.

"Isaiah is settled in Sydney with his family and prefers to stay here," O'Loughlin said.

"The Tigers are very keen but he also feels a loyalty to Parramatta so will probably give them the last say.

"I think they are meeting this week so we will see what they come up with."

His ability to play both middle and edge forward adds to his value and the tough forward has been in hot demand.

Papali'i finished 2021 third in the NRL for post-contact metres and should only get better in coming years.

The Eels are desperate to keep him but also have several big names off contract including skipper Clint Gutherson, hooker Reed Mahoney and prop Junior Paulo.

Need to make this happen...

Can't make it happen if players want to stay where they are. All it will take is for the Eels to come back with a competitive offer. The ball is in their court, we have done all we can do.

To @cochise, @jirskyr, @tigerballs, @Strongee and plenty of others - I ask you to please move it to another thread.
>Or do we want to just do away with topics and have it all as a free-for-all?

Whilst I support your position in general, to ask that people "stay on topic" in this thread, of all the threads on the website, is in interesting one. This must be the most meandering, ill-defined, arbitrary and baseless collection of jumbled musings on the whole forum.

On a technicality, discussions about salary caps and TPAs do have a direct, single-degree of relationship to signings news. They are the mechanism by which signings occur. This is not the "signing news" thread, this is the suggestions and speculation thread, and some folks are discussing new suggestions about how signings can be better policed in the competition. I would put it to you that ongoing discussions about Liddle and Simpkin similarly have nothing specifically to do with whether Josh Hodgson has signed with the Tigers, but rather are a line of discussion about the potential impacts of the rumour or suggestion.

And respectfully, anyone who reads 10 pages of this thread and gets their hopes up must not have been around long enough to know better.

I do agree that the Liddle/Simpkins talk should also have been located elsewhere, but I choose to try and focus on the one I thought might be more easily relocated.

And yes, one could argue that the TPAs is related to signings, suggestions and rumours. Just about everything is related when you boil down to it.
But that's not meant to be the focus of that/this thread, and I think you've been around long enough to know that.

And it is the off season as well, so more leniency should be given. All fair enough.

Your final comment is a cheap shot. You say 'respectfully' and then put a barb in about not knowing better for good measure. I don't see the respect in doing that. That sort of thing is why I don't comment much, I'm not interested in a slinging match. Throwing put-downs around. No thank you.

I come here hoping for good news about the WT, as unoptimistic as I might be, always hoping against hope.

True but there’s only one more thing we can do and that’s up the offer from our end too to see if that’ll entice him to leave but with Eels the more they keep the more they’ll lose too e.g. if they do retain Papali”I they could lose Matterson, Paulo and a couple more forwards depending on how much they plan on paying Papali”I but honestly if he does stay I would give Paulo an offer I think him and Nofa are good friends so it could push him over to us

Same as always, we are used as leverage for player’s to squeeze a bit more out of their current club, and they would be mad not to. Our offer would have to be 40% or more to attract a player from a top four club to join us at present. Let’s hope Iam wrong, as once you get one good player to sign it gets a little easier to attract more

Eels will undoubtedly up their offer (they couldn’t be that stupid) and I’d say the most we could increase by is 50k. Depends where his head is at. He could re sign a 2 year deal with the eels and come off that only 25 and then get his big money contract. Not very confident that we get this done as all we can really offer is cold hard cash and a shiny new training centre

Also depends on who they want to keep they won’t be able to keep them all they still have to resign Mahoney, Gutherson and a few other players to try and avoid not making the 8 in 2023

If Parra were smart they'd cut ties with Matterson before losing Papali'i. Let's hope they're not. I'd throw a few bucks at Paulo too, really get them excited....

Matterson took up “his” option for next season, so it’s going to be hard for Parra to just cut ties with him.
He took up the option as he knows that not many clubs would go near him, as he is a problem wherever he goes.

I’d be happy with either of those guys. Go in for both and take whoever falls out.

I reckon the Dolphins will be interested as they do need players to sign for 2023 and so far to my knowledge they have signed one of their young players to a first grade contract can’t remember his name

For '23 though. He will be off contract then and will need to be resigned if they want to keep him.

If they don’t want to keep him the Dolphins will probably have a crack simply due to needing players for 2023
