**NRL news: Who will Parramatta Eels sign to play hooker in 2023?**

Api Koroisau, Reece Robson and Jacob Liddle have all been pitched to the Eels in the wake of the crushing departure of Reed Mahoney to the Bulldogs.

Liddle is another hooker off-contract in 2023 with the Wests Tigers dummy-half linked to a move to the Raiders in a swap for Josh Hodgson.

Liddle has also been spruiked to Parramatta as an answer to Mahoney in 2023.

Maybe Robson could be a good swap for him but I’d be more inclined to let old mate rot in reserves for the year no matter who NQL offer us. Maybe only Luki or Tuilagi (Murray?)

Seyfarth isn’t a lock his lateral defense was ordinary to say the least. He is a direct hitter and runner and should be in the middle.

Locks defend in the middle.

Liddle is the new brooks. Every excuse in the book why his passing was horrendous. Why in key moments he wasn’t at dummy half, why he dropped of tackles, why he was gassed after 30 minutes. It’s everybody’s fault but his.

First sentence is dead on. He’s the new scapegoat.

He was terrible that’s what he was. Would happily drive him and brooks to redcliffe. Let’s give these guys another 5 years and see if they will improve. Wonder if brooks csn get to 500 games with no finals at the tigers. Can you imagine the banner and the party at Leichhardt oval for him.

10 line breaks for Liddle. One of our only shining lights in attack. If he was terrible, God knows how you would describe some others

His running game is his strength. Unfortunately for his 10 linebreaks he's caused 13 against us. His defence, passing and stamina needs to improve.

Where the blokes around him, what were they doing?

Probably telling him off at training for throwing a simple pass from dummy half way forward or being too slow when passing from the play the ball well that’s what LL did anyway during last off season and honestly he had a point but extreme with the push and shove that occurred but he was right to tell him off and for him to be better

I think it is up to a player to fix his own game, before having a go at someone else. Don't agree with your other assessment either just by the way, just my opinion.

That’s fine mate and I agree it should be up to the player to fix his game like I said probably a bit extreme with the push and shove but LL was trying to help him personally wouldn’t have done the pushing and shoving if I was in the team but hopefully Liddle just took it as professional not personal

Wasnt there a bit of tension when they went into the hub in Qld giving the "star" players Moses, Matterson, Gutho ect gun rooms with a view and the others were looking at brick walls. Thats not something that segregates a team i wouldnt have thought :grin:

Mitch certainly didn't get on with Nofoalama before he left wests tigers. Must be something about him.

There was a game at Leichhardt oval, may have been mitchy’s last game in our colours where he threw a cut out ball and it went over the sideline

Mitchy of course blamed Nofo…Nofo looked like he wanted to deck him

Don't mind either of them. Herbie has some things he needs to work on but he's a big body and a out and out centre which we need.

I don’t know what some on here want , Liddle is not origin class but he is a good 1st grade player , doesn’t miss many tackles has great pace , just needs to fine tune his play around the ruck maybe Farah can work on that

He was the 2nd worst hooker in the NRL this year for Try Causes and Line Break causes in defence. He's a massive liability in our middle defence. Probably coincides with his lack of stamina

There's 16/17 Teams, 4-5 Top Class hookers in the game (Maybe less) Unless we're getting one of those (Which we're not),
Then I'd prefer much prefer Liddle Stays.... LONG TERM!!

Liddle is not at the top level, But our Team as a whole are not at that level (Yet)
Both may never be... People here need to accept that.

But NOT ONE is followed up with a realistic, suggested player to fill the position
I'd be throwing 1.2 at B Smith, I seriously don't think that would land him....

The only way we'll ever land those type of players - Is buy building a tough, mid level side that shows to be on the up. Get the numbers right and then land that big fish...
We're not there yet, And I for one... AM NOT letting the Hooker or Half go anywhere until we firmly have our hands on a much better option - Which we don't.

Which statistics are you referring to? - His 92(ish) % Tackle efficiency?
If we had a goal kicker that kicked that well, He'd be the pride of the team....

87% actually. And his 10 try and 13 linebreak causes in 20 matches. He missed 65 tackles last season, second most for the club (funnily enough the apparently great defensive half Brooks missed the most tackles in 70 for the season). He needs to be better

Sorry to add to the Liddle/Simpkin posts but I wanted to clarify for everyone, the tackle efficiency stats are measured differently on nrl.com versus fox sports lab. Fox sports lab are stricter on tackles. If someone flops in late then they don’t count that as a tackle whereas nrl.com does. Fox sports lab are again strict with their definition of efficiency. Both ineffective tackles and missed tackles are included in the denominator. For some reason, fox sports don’t round their stats, so an efficiency of 87.9 is incorrectly shown as 87… For the Liddle vs Simpkin debate it’s much of a muchness as they’re both within 1% of each other when comparing on the same platform. The issue becomes when you compare across platforms. Then you could make ones stats look better than the other to suit your argument.

Cannot believe the crap most on here are leveling at liddle , has he stole ur girls friends or robbed ur house , or is that those shoveling shit on him don’t have a clue about football . Yes he has faults but he has 16 other players each week who play worse than him , lay of the kid , and find something else to do .

Couldn't understand most of what you said but I think it has more to with the fact he can't pass or kick..he's a dummy half.
