Who did we play on the weekend and how badly did Brooks play to warrant this sudden urge to rehash the same bashing over and over again?

Agree.
Tiger supporters have been let down more than any other team's supporters and it's only natural that they have a scapegoat to heap the blame on.
Brooksey, who has not performed consistently over a long period now, will simply have to play incredibly well before opinions change in this forum.

I'd suggest he wouldn't be concerned about the handful of fans on this forum who blow in and out like flatuence to offer their biased and irrelevant opinions. Sheens stated he will be staying so it will be SNAFU.

A number of people on here knock Brooks, but I had a look at the video showing the 'top tries' Wests put on last year and Brooks featured in many of these tries. His try assist stats from last year were decent. There is room for improvement in his game, particularly with last tackle options, but I personally hope we keep him. Letting him go without getting a player of equal value is just plain dumb.

Agreed. But what is his value really?

A bit.
His value is a good running game. Good handoff, can get over the line and can definately play.

His defense has improved but whole team needs to upgrade.

His value is not his weakness. His weakness is he does not think like a Half, does not organise or marshall the team, does not boss people around.
Move him or Fire him. Brooks nor Benji was ever a halfback.

You could sum up Wests Tigers very easily:

The interesting perspective on this is that when Scott Prince was here, a big chunk of the forum thought he should be moved to 5/8 because he wasn't a natural halfback. I remember people wanted a player by the name of Kieran Kerr to play 7. The year we won the comp this talk died down.

The whole "X is not a halfback" argument has happened ever since I can remember.

Brooks is a halfback, the question is, is he good enough?

Well, If Brooks is the halfback he needs to go.

Our defensive structure is haphazard and no one is organizing the team in defense. We often have overlaps and open spaces.

Our attack is moderately ok but our structure in attack is hopeless.

Now I want to put this radical idea that people can change positions. This actually worked for Chris Lawrence and IMHO could have worked for a fair number of players.

Ofcourse maybe we could get an organizing 5/8 in Hastings and Brooks keeps playing his 7 game. I honestly think that would work worse then moving Brooks to 5/8. Because you get 2 halfbacks then and with 2 halfbacks you get None.


Don’t worry about the numbers on their backs. Hastings and Brooks, and this is just my humble opinion based on hope and prayers, will be a revelation. If Brooks’s obvious talents get a little assistance from a reasonably capable footy head, he’ll show his potential, which is massive. Rip in now if you like but if I’m right, I want an apology by round 10.

Yep, agree with you regarding the numbers. Luke Keary was Rooster 6 and played on the left just as Brooks does. In fact, as good as Keary is/was his main problem was to crowd the Centre Mitchell & then Winger Topou by crabbing left whereas Brooks strength is his straight running dart to set up the outside backs. The problem is, we don't have a decent dummy half to get clean ball to the left sided Brooks. Hastings will provide an effective option simply cos of the unknown factor i.e. will he be the go to guy or will Brooks? Hopefully, the dummy halves have improved in the off season.

Brooks has under performed some games, others he has clearly been a high performer in a lazy team. Brooks has never managed our team and he never will, you can't coach that.

Robbie managed our team from NR9 and we need to see the 9's give the halves good ball. Brooks as a half will never call for it, I hope Hastings change this. The platform has never been there for Brooks and Brooks hasn't built the platform.

In short our spine needs a Chiropractor. Madge isn't that. Brooks can't straighten it, but if it is straightened we can see the peak form we have seen from him in the past.

I hold no hope for 2022, 2023 with Karasau and Hastings we will see a great side.

The problem is when I've seen him he hasn't been that good in State Cup. If he kills it in State Cup then I think he is a good chance of killing it in first grade.

He might come good. I wouldn't write him off yet but to me he should kill it in State Cup prior to being considered a valid first grade option.

Get rid of Brooks. Hasting and Douhei are the future. If Douhei is out, replace him with a good defender.

Doueihi might not even have a future if he does his knee one more time.

Brooks is lucky to be even being mentioned. I swear to God the Freemasons must be pulling strings for him the way he has made a career out of doing sweet FA.

Looks like the two boys from the Cowboys are playing the Dolphins. They’ll most likely play the season out at the Cowboys to boost their value and wait for a big offer from Wayne. Makes sense I guess. Luki was spotted at a cafe in Catherine St Leichhardt talking with the Tigers hotshots but wouldn’t commit.

That’s a shame. A bit optimistic but I was hoping of of those two could make the starting side at 2nd along side Blore.
A guess we are now stuck with Lucy for 2022. Would prefer Lucy coming off the bench. Don’t know if we have that luxury with whoever partners Blore will be pretty green.
Manly had a lot of injury in the backrow and the young guys that came in killed it.

Surely they have offers on the table from the Cows, Dolphins and Tigers by now, if not even more clubs. Why would they wait and play out the season? Very risky moves for two youngsters having played a handful of games to turn down big money in the hopes that an extra 10-15 games will see them earn even more.

They surely need to be advised to decide where they want to play and sign. If they do happen to turn into superstars in the very near future they can always negotiate an upgrade, like Stef is in the process of doing

Just looking at the roster on Zero tackle, it really does look the best it has been for some time. We don't necessarily have the cattle this year, but the way it is structured for the next few years is awesome. You can really see the intent coming together. 🤞 some of these kids coming through are as good as advertised and our fortunes may finally be turning around for the better. I'm really keen to seen what a fully fit Shawn Blore has to offer, I can see him really making a mark if he stays healthy.

Halfback of the Year for a team who came 9th. In 2018, Cronk had his debut year at Chooks and won a GF, Adam Reynolds got South's to Top 4 and Cleary debuted in Origin, but yeah Brooks was the best 7 in the Comp ???

He never said he was the best halfback that year, just that he was halfback of the year, which he was.

The anti Brooks brigade have become like the anti vax brigade. They aren’t interested in having rational conversation, they just want to scream in your face and dismiss any facts that don’t back their argument.

Which facts?
Any fact supports our stance that a lump of drift wood would perform better.
It amuses me that his only supporters in the whole NRL fan base are a tiny minority of Tigers men. Everyone else laughs at him trying to play.

I don't understand what dragging the bloke down achieves. I'm sure the players would jump onto the forum every now and then.

Being articulate and coming up with an alternate option, sure. That's fine. But some of the vitriol on here towards him achieves nothing.

The only thing it does do is drag his confidence down (if he were to read it or opinions filter through to media), which only makes our team even worse. To argue that he should be bigger than that also, misses the point. These guys are human beings and can't avoid hits to confidence or attitude.

People who do that really have no view of achieving the best outcome for all of us as a team. It's unfiltered emotional rubbish, only achieving negatives.

Not as though the club could get any worse given we are being tipped for the spoon and yet Api & Paps had no issue signing with us.

Brooks would be a better player if he just played a supportive role.
If someone makes a break you would have Laurie and Brooks backing up on either side.
A bit like Billy Smith and Graham Langlands.
The recent stats showing Brooks as a poor defender but didn't reflect he played more games.
It does highlight our edge defenders are not up to scratch because there were some notable players on that list that had poor defense but don't come under the same scrutiny because their teams had a better points differential. Lucy is going, does that mean someone like Garner gets more game time this year?
Personally I think we need another gun backrower who can tackle and be involved in set plays.
I know I'm going to get smashed here, however, a player like Ryan Matteson would be perfect. He and Papa would be lethal.
Is there someone out there available like him.
