If O’Brien wants Brooks that bad we should do a deal .
Maybe get Klemmer or Best ( or both ) in return .
Are you available?Surley we start bringing sone players in soon how many spots do we have to fill?
That's not how it works though
The clubs have no sway in trades that's why trades just don't happen.
The player, players manager, RPLA, NRL, Sponsors etc all need to be involved.
A new contract for both players get drawn up with means brand new contractual terms are agreed ($$ length, conditions etc) and then for a trade to happen both players would need to move at the same time. We are then talking homes, kids school (if applicable), partners work, family & other support networks + need TPA/Sponsor agreements etc which aren't signed via the club but player directly.
People think trades are easy but they just aren't which is why all the trade talk was BS.
If Brooks was to go to the Knights it would be on a release and the only guarantee would be we get a roster spot and cap benefit for next year which adds zero benefit to us given we have an abundance of cap & roster spots already available to fill
Yeah mate I play centre but can also cover wing and I know if the ball hasn’t traveled 10 meters on a kick off not to touch it do I get the job?Are you available?
What position?
then we’d have to shop for another half …Maybe get Klemmer or Best ( or both ) in return .
Madden departing is the best indication Brooks is staying.then we’d have to shop for another half …
Madden is already gone

Yep and still take Klem or Friz.don't give Newcastle anybody
2023 they will have zero halves
2023 we will have
Brooks
Douhie
Hastings
In much bigger sports than rugby league , trades & player movements happen immediately . They move states & countries in a heartbeat .That's not how it works though

Clubs absolutely have a "sway" in trades. It may not be easy, but if Newcastle want Brooks we just have to say "we will entertain the idea if we get player X". It's then up to Newcastle to enquire if player X has any interest. If so, then negotiations heat up and we see if an arrangement can be made that makes all happy.
I imagine it would be a very difficult process and negotiation, but clubs certainly can have a lot to do with it.
We keep IP and build around him as you do with Laurie and Brooks.Ok this might go down like a bag of cement for some but if, and a big IF, Papaali wants out of the contract, I'd be supportive if the Club can win out of it.
What I mean is that the club he goes to or stays at (let's say the Warriors or Eels as mentioned) provide an outcome better than IP coming.
Eels - Shaun Lane + Will Penisini for 2022 onwards (both off contract 2023)
Warriors - Josh Curran on lower contract than IP (I reckon he will be better than IP and has the type of attitude we need). Then we use the $$$ we save to land another experienced backrower John Bateman or Tyson Frizell.
The only way out that will be acceptable is if Wests Tigers win out of the deal otherwise the club will be crucified.

What’s BS is signing players 12 months in advance . Ipap needs a year to go from Parramatta to Concord . Lol .
If players don’t like professional sports go get a job in a factory .
I think that's what I said mateLets be real the clubs have a say, sure - if a club asks for player x and the existing club wants them then it won’t happen.
But even if they go yes player x could be traded they actually don’t have the definitive decision as to if it happens and the process to make it happen is extremely complex. This is even harder when you’re talking about significant deals.
It’s hard enough to release a player not wanted by a club on the books at inflated prices let alone trying to swap them.
The bloke must have been on dope to say that, or he is a complete dope, totally laughable.I heard something on the radio about Adam obrian saying Newcastle would have won more games if they had brooks? Did I hear it correctly or where my ears doing me wrong lol
It's a very long way to the top from where Wests Tigers are at the moment.… building up the pathways
Goin' to a show
Stop in all the byways
Playin' rock 'n' roll
Gettin' robbed
Gettin' stoned
Gettin' beat up
Broken-boned
Gettin' had
Gettin' took
I tell you, folks
It's harder than it looks...

That logic seems fairly sound, that is until you consider that we let a coach go and the best indication was that we had another one lined up to come in and take his place.Madden departing is the best indication Brooks is staying.
