Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Was speaking to my mate at the Roosters today.

Matterson has been given a release. He was told he will be at the Tigers next year but wasn't sure if the deal was done.

Tapau deal very close apparently. Manly and a few other little hoops to jump through but looking like he will be a rooster in 2019.

Gotta love the roosters, just buy the best players, scant regard to the cap, I hope they never win another premiership ever, I hate the cheats.

Yep.

Only way they were letting a good player like Mattetson walk was if they had someone else lined up.

Taupau or TPJ. Taupau looks like their man.

We got lucky.

Who cares, their fortune is ours. Hopefully he can help us build into a regularly successful unit that allows us to make the signings that other clubs are always in the market for.

Bronson Xerri has been locked up by the Sharks until the end of 2021\. He might force his way into their back line next year with Ramien, Leutele and Lee going.

He is a very good player but I think Ethan Parry who played left centre in the Aust Schools team is also a very good player.

Ethan Parry,
That name rings a bell.
I mentioned him about a year or so ok after I saw a Roar article about him tearing up schoolboys rugby. Is he still contracted or linked to the cowboys?

He'll probably re-sign with the rabbits but wouldn't mind Robert Jennings in our back line.

He is with the Eels but had a few injuries this year. With our Eels' connection at the club I'd like to see him at WTs. He is big and very fastl

Would rather Toupu or Feki. Still think we will probably announce an outside back as well as Matterson.

Of course, they need more forwards. They're a bit thin up front.

Yea, no doubt we'll announce an outside back or two soon enough. No issue from me with either Toupu or Feki signing with us.

Apologies, I was wrong on two counts the Ethan I was thinking of was Ethan Bullemor and it is not North Queensland he is affiliated with it is Brisbane… (no surprises).
His 18 now.

Id take this one step further. Lets form an official partnership with Patrician Brothers Fairfield and St Gregories Campblpelltown etc

Blue ribbon school = Well coached kids from decent families who understand structure and discipline.

While we are at it lets go get our Keebra Park system back. Was never happy that the muppet played a part in taking that away.

A lot of the Pats kids already in the Eels and Penrith systems. No sign of us in sight

The U15 ASSRL Championships have just been held and from what I have read, we have William Abou-Arrage (Balmain and Christian Brothers Lewisham) in the Aust U15 Merit team and Brandon Tumeth (Balmain and Holy Cross Ryde) as NSW CCC most valuable player.
\
\
The Open Championships happend from 15 to 18 July in Kingscliff NSW. Does anyone have information on players from Balmain. Wests or scholarship players in the CCC, CHS, QLD or CIS squads?

Wouldn't happen to know if William Abou-Arrage is injured as he hasn't been named in the 2019 Balmain Tigers HM side?

Not for me. He’s run about 21ms for his 20 tries this year. Jordan rankin would have scored them.

George at Parra is a better player, just playing in a much worse team.

They actually are Spud , it is their weakness , they are a different side when JWH or Napa is out

This is true Happy. They're choc full of backrowers, but not many props. They miss JWH when he is out, moreso than Napa I reckon. I'd love to take JWH off their hands, he's a pack leader, but they will need to find a way to keep him _and_ get Tapau if they are to fix their front row weakness and I'm sure they will.

I am happy with have signed the young centre from Easts and appears to have a lot of upsides to his signing. Comes from a winning culture.

Ryan Matterson (if the signing is true) is another great signing from the Easts and again a lot of upside to the signing and he plays a position we have struggled with.

WT are not going to attract real quality players until we can start consistently playing semi finals football.

In general front rowers improve with age so Trent Merrin (29 when next season starts) and JWH (30 when next season starts) are both a great age for props and with the number of NRL games they have played plus representative experience I would be happy to sign one or both of them. Both have play over 200 NRL games

A front row rotation of Merrin, JWH, Packer and Matalino would be an improvement on 2018\. Twal would make a great 80 minutes lock forward. Lock forward in the modern game are a third prop.

My pack for 2019

JWH
Farah
Matalino
Lawrence (C)
Matterson
Twal

Bench

Merrin
Packer
Michael Kee Cham (can play backs and forwards)
Liddle

what about chase blair as a center, he only gets a look in at the storm every now and then, would not cost much, if he wanted a 1st grade start. hes big and fast and comes from a winning culture.

He's another former Eel (I believe), so they tend to do alright with us usually.
Storm can make an ordinary player look great, so in our squad he would probably be average not a standout. But still we need some bodies, some depth, so I would be happy if we signed him as long as we kept looking for a better centre.

George is good too. Should've mentioned him as well.
