Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Joffa is our 4th/5th choice prop and likely getting paid overs for that role. If we can get out of that contract I think it would be fine business.

Would our team realistically lose a lot with Blore/Matamua/James taking his 35 minutes a game? Blore arguably offers more versatility as he can play wide and we have Bateman move to lock and Pole up front...

If Joe O is released, Parra will take over his current contract.
For the Tigers, I don't think we will get anything in return, however that will free up a top 30 spot
I believe Aitasi James will be promoted.
I agree that if Joffa leaves, it's likely that it won't be for anyone in return. It would free up a Top 30 spot to fill by June 30, give us more salary cap space & enable the club to use Blore/Matamua/James/Seyfarth in the 17.

We'd have 5 weeks for Fulton then to weave his magic to try to land a mid-season external recruit or if not, upgrade from within (like we had to do last season with Henry O'Kane taking a top 30 spot) which gives players like James, Mansfield or even Feledy etc a chance to push for this upgrade.

Why on earth would we do that?

James is eligible to play now. We're already well under the cap, lots of cash to spend this season. We need quality players who can help us win games now.

Either Parra give us that or they dn't get him.

We cannot strengthen opponents without getting something in return. It has never worked for us. We have one of the worst squads in the comp, with large gaps in our roster and prospects.

They want a player they MUST offer us a swap for someone that we want. Or they get nothing.

Maybe we can offload Tuki to the cows and promote James if that's what we want to do.

great post. Doueihi for mine is done. very rarely do you ever see a player come back from a third ACL and into a spine position, and even then I don't think you'll ever see him lace a boot for WT again.

that said, having Johnson, Brooks, Wakeham and Sanders in the top 30 with Lawry, Conti and Large either on development deals or in the pathways is a smart move. the first three I mentioned should all be signed on 1-2 year deals (potentially an option of a third for SJ) and it ensures we're completely covered in an area that has hampered us in recent years.

I'm unsure if they'll give us Sanders, although he'd be my top target. I think Dunster (Benji's cousin) is the likeliest to head our way, but Blaize Talagi played a stack of footy at Westsfields with our SG Ball boys and I wouldn't be unhappy if we got him either.
I believe Sanders is off contract next season. nothing has been officially announced, but he was waiting to see what Moses+Brown did. They stayed = there's no space for him and he will leave Parra. Where is the question.

So releasing a player who's path is blocked and is off-contract is not unimaginable. Though Talagi is also a top prospect, but we need an organising half first and foremost.

Maybe joffa going is freeing up space for a mid season move for Ben Hunt

We can’t fill the millions of cap space we already have available we don’t need to free cap space up.

And do they even have the cash to take him for 2.5 years? If he did decide to leave you'd think we are freeing up cash to make a big offer for a half.

We're strong in the middle because we have 5 FG quality options, that's just enough with no proven depth. James might be no 6 but we don't know yet. I wouldn't let him go unless we get something we need.

I hate this crap. You are a couple of injuries away from playing playees not FG standard and you want to strengthen other sides mid year who are struggling for depth. Is it any wonder players kick stones when they get dropped the system encourages them to.

You'd assume they'd have a replacement in mind which could be from any club.
