Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Do you think what Hoppa senior got up to at WT might be a deterrent? There'd be a lot of media interest that Hoppa jnr might wish to avoid.

How could anyone consider WILL HOPOATE when he can not play Sundays????

That means this year for the Tigers he would of been unavailable 5 of the first 9 rounds???? Unless he plays fulltime its a no from me.

I would only sign him if he can play all matches inculding Sunday games. Pretty sure I read somewhere he said he now play Sunday's in next contract.

It's been said before on here - his next contract won't have the Sunday clause. No club is going to put up with that.

There's a fair bit of optimism on this forum about WT's future. That optimism is based on a couple of good signings so far and the hope of quite a few more. I want to be as optimistic as the rest of you but I'm a little worried that we won't get the quality we need to challenge for the top 4 next year.

We've got a few irons in the fire (Packer, Milne etc) in terms of offers but we are still quite a few players short of having a good side and I'm not sure we'll secure the quality and quantity we need to be competitive in 2018\. Can someone give me a megashot of optimism please.

Well this year we are only spending roughly 80% of the cap on players at the club. In 2018 we will be spending 100% of the cap on players at the club. Now with 80% we have beaten a couple of finalists from last yr in Cowboys and Dogs and fallen just short agianst the Sharks despite being down to 15 players and 1 of whom was playing injured and almost and prob should have won.

Can we start a partition to sign Graham..????
I think he can have major impact with our club.

And what will the Dogs reaction be?

"Gee we really don't want to release you James, but Tigers fans started a petition. We can't keep you now. Best be on your way old chum"

Which makes me wonder: If he's happy to do it next year, why not do it now? If it was truly a matter of faith, he would never change his stance.

Completely agree. What do you think his asking price will be?

anything under 450k is a steal. Analytics rate him a 600k player due to versatility.

What is analytics? Only an idiot would pay anywhere near $600k for Hopoate. He had a good game the other night but from what I've seen he has been pretty damn ordinary the last few years.

Career statistical data, win % with him in The team +/- PD when he's on/off the field etc it's ok if you don't understand not everyone does but basically it breaks down a players worth into a % in comparison to the salary cap.

For example when talking +/- PD brooks (-10.2) and Moses (-9.11) are literally the second worse halves combo behind lamb (-13.77) and hodkinson (-10.89)

Our newest recruit Reynolds (-2.2)

Stats are per 80mins played

The Bulldogs are actually a +5.33 point team per 80 mins Sam kasiano plays so those who think he's a bad signing. The proof is there for you that he's not. He's actually one of the best +/- forwards per 80 mins played in the NRL. Awesome value bench forward

Agree on Kasiano, he has tremendous impact when he comes on. Would be happy to sign him. Problem is he wouldn't just be looking for impact bench forward money- he'd want $700k+ wouldn't he?

SG where do you get this data I'm impressed.
Who are the best that are off contract in the +/- that are realistic signings.

he only mentiond holland because hes a goalkicker.

Whats wrong with these players? if they learned how to goalkick they could earn a extra 50-100k a year 😂

Nope not just because he is a goal kicker…..
