The dogs won't be at the bottom for much longer. Barrett turned the Panthers into a point scoring juggernaut and Cleary into one of the premier halves in the game. With Hansen acting as a consultant above him they look more than likely to shoot up the table in the next few seasons. Gotta give them credit, they're doing everything they can to turn the place around. The dogs and even the titans are ahead of us because their big long term contracts have finished up 12 months before ours, but I do believe we will catch up by 2022.
I'm not saying this to criticise our own football department, we've headhunted Melbourne and Easts recruiters and poured plenty of money into our own backyard, and the COE will reflect that. Whether we like it or not we have only ever briefly had pulling power for players (2010-2012) and we've addressed this by signing some of the best young talent in the country as opposed to going all out for established stars like management has in the past. That's the way Melbourne do things. I do believe we're on the right track, it's just that we the old and weary fans will have to wait a little while longer until there is success of any kind, let alone sustained.
Is this the same Barrett who was an average coach at Manly?
made the 8 more times than we did when he was there. yes he got sacked, but went back to Penrith as an assistant and plied his trade, and plenty of their players have said how big of an influence he was for them this year. do you not think he will improve this time round?
Came bottom 4 with a gun roster that Hasler turned into a premiership contender team
