Bulldogs just signed the biggest signing yet imo. Hansen from the all blacks

I was wondering who you were talking about but, apparently, it's Steve Hansen their ex-coach. What position is he going to play ?

That's actually a massive signing. Almost game changing. Could see them catapult into the eight despite still having a mud squad.

Is their strategy to put 15players on the field?

I would not blink offering him the combined totals of Packer and Reynolds salaries and maybe a bit more. Why not offer to make him the first 2 million a year player in the game.

And then he does his knee game 1 too risky for 2 million

Ok
I'm going to call this from way out of left field
Tedesco has been given a time frame to re sign with the Roosters (not the way to do it some would say)
I wouldn't be surprised if we made a big big offer to get him back to our club
On the quiet of course
We have plenty of money to spend on 2022
If we could bring Teddy home what a coup that would be
That would get the tongues wagging
So we miss Addo-Carr but sign Tedesco for 2022
I am being very optimistic but it is possible
Shoot me down at your own peril

Just a long shot but I am sure the question would be asked

Why can’t we get both back? Why don’t we have a buy ba+k the farm mentality and restore faith in our long suffering fans?

Says signed as a consultant, a consultant by nature is not "exclusive".

Could only see him as a long term vision expert especially around discipline and culture

The dogs won't be at the bottom for much longer. Barrett turned the Panthers into a point scoring juggernaut and Cleary into one of the premier halves in the game. With Hansen acting as a consultant above him they look more than likely to shoot up the table in the next few seasons. Gotta give them credit, they're doing everything they can to turn the place around. The dogs and even the titans are ahead of us because their big long term contracts have finished up 12 months before ours, but I do believe we will catch up by 2022.

I'm not saying this to criticise our own football department, we've headhunted Melbourne and Easts recruiters and poured plenty of money into our own backyard, and the COE will reflect that. Whether we like it or not we have only ever briefly had pulling power for players (2010-2012) and we've addressed this by signing some of the best young talent in the country as opposed to going all out for established stars like management has in the past. That's the way Melbourne do things. I do believe we're on the right track, it's just that we the old and weary fans will have to wait a little while longer until there is success of any kind, let alone sustained.

Is this the same Barrett who was an average coach at Manly?

made the 8 more times than we did when he was there. yes he got sacked, but went back to Penrith as an assistant and plied his trade, and plenty of their players have said how big of an influence he was for them this year. do you not think he will improve this time round?

Came bottom 4 with a gun roster that Hasler turned into a premiership contender team

a lot of people whiteanted him because he wasn't "Manly"....the flogs on the northern beaches always say that only a manly person can coach manly....

To see how hasler left manly a wreck, went to the dogs and wrecked them, to go back to manly shows their mentality. IMO they did everything they could to make Barrett's time there like pushing it uphill.

Agree mate but still hard to sit each year watching clubs below us on the ladder make good signings while we watch out the window as dust passes by..

The Manly attack clicked big time under Barrett. Both Trbojevic brothers and DCE were unreal under him. The problem was the defence was utter dross and he couldn't manage the big personalities at the club. DCE has slowly gone backwards under Hasler. Jake Trbojevic isn't as effective in attack as he was.

The 2017-2018 Wests Tigers and 2019 Panthers were some of the worst attacking sides I'd ever seen. Ivan Cleary has no clue how to coach offence. Before Cleary came, they were a great attacking side under Griffin and Ciraldo. Barrett went to Penrith in 2020 and suddenly they were an attacking juggernaut.

Some people are excellent assistants and some people are excellent head coaches.. big difference

The dogs are bonkers. The last Kiwi they brought in didn't work out too well.

Definitely looks like the new sponsors are trying to legitimise themselves by throwing around their cash. Make it look all professional and smooth sailing from the outside, when in reality the different factions are tearing at each others throats every day including Sunday.

Hansen offers nothing. He's a by-product of a great system that employs coaches for their tactical ability and nothing else. Plus the All Black aren't run by the Canterbury Leagues Club board. Big difference...

Exactly, all this feel good news about Barretts bulldogs is typical of a new coach coming. We had the same when Cleary came, with appointments of training staff and of course the big 4 signings (groan)

I would offer $1,300,000 a year for two years, with an option of a third year in the clubs favour at that price
Should his form dip then we may offer less
That offer is not just for his playing abilities
It is also to show that a our club has turned the corner and we can attract the best players
If Teddy came back it would do alot for our club
Both on and off the field
Think of it this way
Teddy is worth more than Cherry Evans

No big signings is a good thing for us. Trust me we won’t win anything if we continually recruit big money players. Keep at it sign young players with pedigree that want an opportunity. Build a club the kids want to stay at and play for. At some stage the investment in pathways will deliver the players we want at the right price.

Recruitment should only be to strengthen areas we are weaker at and or for experience or leadership to help the young players.
