You might not want to read or hear about it, but it's fairly obvious players don't want to come here.

Tamou, Blore, Douiehi, BJ, Luciano, Garner, Stefano, Hoffman, Simpkin, Tuilagi, Reynolds, Mbye, Packer, Walters, Musgrove, Fonua, Thompson, Lolohea, Taylor, Chee-Kam etc.

Pretty long list of players who didn't want to come here, just within past few years.

Rule out Nuffies and guys released/discarded by their prior club and this list is virtually non-existant

"Rule out guys released by their prior club", he says in a thread complaining about not signing JAC.

So we can't sign anyone that another club released; I mean that's how Storm signed Papenhuyzen and Jahrome Hughes, but it's not the way to go apparently?

We are the ONLY NRL club that is unable to sign an elite player. Dogs, Titans, Knights have been regularly performing worse than us yet they sign several origin players, titans obviously with their recent raids and even the Dogs could sign Cotric. Yes they overpaid players but it kick starts their rebuild. We’re still in our 9th consecutive year of rebuilding and are still tipped to get the spoon next year.

Cool bananas looking forward to how those ongoing Bulldogs, Titans and Knights rebuilds are going. Bulldogs and Titans in particular, many many good decisions over many years of success.

I specifically asked where 10-20% overs comes from. Also "least desirable" and "immense issues selling ourselves".

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. You say yourself you are dealing in crumbs.

We just signed the captain of one of the Grand Final sides, but apparently we cannot sell ourselves.

We did sign the ex Captain of Penrith but some context needs to be given. After all, most would agree that while he has been a very good player, he is in the twilight years of his career.

The fact his family didn't want to move the kids from their school, basically made us the only optiion

Why is that? Nine teams in Sydney.

Because none of them wanted him

No, I used one of our poor decisions to highlight how good released players can be.

When you say "discards that nobody wants", that's nearly impossible to define from the outside. What is a discard? A player you wanted to leave, or a player you weren't fussed about keeping, or a player you really wanted to keep but only for the right price?

Is Sam McIntyre unwanted or were we outbid? What about Eisenhuth? Unwanted by Tigers and yet signed by the minor premiers.

Even Ben Murdoch is on his way back, another player Tigers didn't choose to keep, but Warriors are interested.

Tamou and Mansour are your classic examples. Their current team told them they would not be required in their best 17 next year.

I agree that Tamou fills a need for us, would be filthy if we gave Mansour the money he probably deserves.

It can go both ways in terms of outcomes, my point is we aren’t a desirable location - the original starting point.

Yep. Search up 'James Hooper Wests tigers' and it's all hate.

The only way to turn the narrative around is to stop the leaks about players "coming" and then pulling out. This is all from Lattrell and JAC and our Chair coming out in the media beforehand.

Maybe we try the bulldogs or Titans approach and make some last-minute offers. That way, it has no time to get out in the media and it doesn't look so bad if we miss out.

But, we definitely need to be smarter. The junior recruitment has been brilliant, but we certainly need to change how we're engaging the big names,

ALSO, we need to stem the bleeding with losses like McIntyre. Sure, he's not a big name, but the media will be all over that one. Was just pure laziness and threre is no excuse.

Panthers need him off the books to keep the junior talent, if they don’t get him off they will lose 1 or a few.

We should be making a play at the kids not a winger who TBH tried hard but was found out abit during this season.

We need to start showing clear intent on the building blocks not getting more bandaids that keep falling off.

Michael Chammas and Christian Niclousi have both said he’s in negotiations with tigers too. They’re decent sources for tigers info

This is the problem with all this talk. It's all in people's head. It's basically all rumor and innuendo.

If the comments were more like we are struggling to get a tier one talent and then discussing who and how we can get a tier one talent that would be cool. The problem is that sample size is so small and even then as jirksyr stated we had tier one stars and still didn't make the finals.

You have to build a good quality squad. We've lost some great players over the years but to me the big losses have been Tedesco, JAC and Koro. Those guys are all quality and would be huge for us but JAC and Koro also left the club they went too because they want more money. Tedesco is on top dollar.

We need a better team. I think top tier talent is the quickest way to get there but it's not so simple.

None of this makes sense? Why are we chasing Roberts and Mansour? Dont worry about failures to sign or immediate success. We need to build and give our youth a chance.

Maybe a performance clause in Madge's new contract has changed his thoughts on looking towards the future. Now he has to try to buy a win (with with almost no cap).

Very true. Noticed a few times now we’ve signed up a club’s reject, they then replace that player with a marquee player that we wanted. We’re shooting ourselves in both feet 😞
