I hope that if we sign Joe O, the club doesn’t go ‘oh that’s a good replacement for Aloiai, he can go to manly now’

Screw that, demand compensation from Manly still. Sironen or they can pay us a couple hundred grand for us. Just because we’ve signed someone in his spot doesn’t mean we should let him go

They won’t have a choice they will want the player starting training shortly and Aloai gone. We will need the cap room. Will play out the same way as it did Matterson. We brought Leilua in who arguably had the better season at a lower cost.
NRL has to fix this.

There were only really 2 options wanted to replace Matterson in a swap and we signed them both anyway.

Yeah that page is apparently run by Wests Tigers media staff, my wife showed me the same post they put on facebook earlier.

Do we need the cap room? He’s on $350k and we’ve got plenty of cap left even with signing Roberts and Joe O. Don’t see the need to release him, make manly compensate us

I can't see them doing it, they are already going to be overpaying him so why would they give up more?

I agree but I don’t see it happening. Manly are clever why would they compensate us they have signed him for 2022. Only thing we can do is make him come back to training and play out the year. Possible fine and suspension for breach of contract. We could make him sit on the sidelines and tie up the cap but it’s counter productive.

Titans made Jai Arrow fulfill his contract even though South's wanted him earlier. I think we need to force this one if Manly don't offer a replacement. Josh was more than happy at WTs till he got the better offer. If Manly want him bad enough let them show it otherwise he sees out his contract.

Maybe Josh has been told he’s back to the bench and that’s part of it too. Especially with signings coming in. Stef, Tamou and 🤞🏻 Joe

Lindsey Collins looks a good player but Easts don’t lose players they want to keep.

RTS
Latrell
James Maloney

But I agree it's rarer.

Good signings low risk high reward.

Madges has done a great job recruiting at this stage with on 1/3 of his cap still unplayable

Certainly different vibe on the Forum with a couple of signings the word for 2021 is PATIENCE

Facebook on the other hand is still packed with whingers complaining about every signing. It's a frustrating read.

That's why I read opinions here and not on FB. That's like the wide ocean of madness compared to this forum.

The Joe deal hinges on Brisbane and how much off his contract they will cover. This one has developed very quick!

Asiata is lined up for the Broncos and they are fairly desperate to offload money. Kevie and Cartwright are smart operators and recognises the importance of getting the longer contracts off the book in order to re-sign Staggs, Coates and Nui.

Joe has agreed to the deal we have presented. Brisbane are paying a very large portion of Jack Birds contact (around 500k for 2021) and don't want to pay a big portion of Joe's.

Although, admittedly I do not know the full specifics of what was agreed, the deal will be subsided by Brisbane to some degree.

After Joe, there would likely only be one more and that would wrap it up for the 2021 squad (dependent on other player movements/departures).

Would one assume that we are happy enough with the portion the Broncos are prepared to pay seeing as though the Insta thing has happened today?

Really not sure, especially considering that happened today by all accounts?

Sorry, i don't really pay attention or put too much stock into what players do or do not do on social media. I only base things off what i personally know/hear.

Despite the negativity at times on the fourm, there is a lot to be positive of. Considering the challenges that the club faces and the difficulties the club sometimes faces with recruitment (considering we do not have the pull of the Roosters, Souths or Melbourne), I personally believe that we are doing a really good job overall with recruitment. Despite the criticism that the club gets in the media and from some fans, Madge and Hartigan especially have really shown class in rising above it all and persisting in improving this team in the best way they possibly can. Lesser operators would not be able step up and rise beyond the criticism the way they have.

It is not an easy job, the fact that they have taken it on head first, not taken an easy way out and shown their willingness to stick with it and sign on long term is admirable. Quite frankly, it's exactly what this club needs and is the kind of mindset that will deliver a stability that will eventually resonate with the high profile recruits.

Know if there is any truth to the Curtis Sironen rumour?

Know if there is any truth to the Curtis Sironen rumour?

There have been some discussions between the clubs. There were previous discussions for Garner (initiated by Manly) that did not come to fruition.

From my understanding the recent discussions between the clubs have been in relation to Josh. I believe a few ideas have been floated in terms of players swaps and that's really all it has been, just discussions. Siro has been a named mention but as far is know, so have quite a few names. Player swaps are much more complicated as there are more parties involved. Both clubs and both players need to agree which is complicated. Then you need to consider the cap and how both players fit in the cap.

It's a bit of a non-answer, but that is all I really have at this stage.

What a week it has been on the forum. From the McIntyre and Aloiai thread to here. We've gone from reaching for the razorblades to top 8 certainties in a matter of days.

Us Tigers fans sure are a fickle bunch.

Quite a risk.....

The Newcastle Knights have confirmed the signing of English youngster Bailey Hodgson, nephew of Canberra Raiders import Josh Hodgson, as first revealed by Wide World of Sports' The Mole earlier this month.

The teenager signed a three-year deal with the Knights and will join the squad for pre-season training after fulfilling two weeks in mandatory quarantine after his arrival from the UK.

Hodgson, who plays at fullback and centre, last month made his Super League debut for the Castleford Tigers, just over a week after turning 18 years old. He has also represented England in their youth national team.

No JAC and we have now let McIntyre go. To date all we have bought is Tamou, Stefano and get back Momo. 2021 is shaping up to be a long season. With some of this season's weaker teams looking stonger on paper I think WT will finish near the bottom of the ladder. 14 spot is my prediction. My other prediction is Maguire's coaching position will be under pressure and fodder for the papers who dislike WT. Bring on the cricket please.

Who is then 9?

Everything is ok above except Tamou, Stefano and Momo don't have 9 on their backs.

Reynolds?
Liddle for 40 minutes, sure.

IMHO if we are loosing Grant lets hire Brandon Smith. We need a fulltime 9 and a burst 9.

We don't need another 9 - we need second rower or a ball playing lock imo,

Then who is your 9? I agree, next signing should be lock, but who is your 9?

Little can't be relied on to make the year. I hope he does, but odds are he will get injured again.
