Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

JAC Seen at Belmore yesterday.

The dogs will offer him the 800k he wants . Crazy money really . But they are desperate. They have no juniors , and they desperately need him . I wouldn’t say we desperately need him . Just to jog everyone’s memory , we and the dogs fought over another gun winger around June last year . That winger is now on 700k and dogs can’t pay anyone to take him .
My point , I really doubt thier ability to recognise talent and valuation . Sure JAC is a gun . But at the moment he’s a gun wi get and should be paid accordingly . The fact they are guaranteeing that coin speaks volumes .

Burton is a good signing for the dogs

Not really sold on Cotric for them, good player yes...but not the type to turn your club around. And apparently they dug deep for him. Smells of a desperation signing for me

dogs are getting the right players in, but still need a 9 and a 1 in order to do anything remotely exciting.

Flanagan is an unknown commodity with them, he struggled to produce the goods in a Roosters side that had a roster far superior than Canterbury's. a rookie halves pairing could backfire on them regardless of how well Barrett mentors halves, hence the initial Green signing.

Re JAC on above any winger wage, i get it, but he isn't really just a winger, he is the best winger, and he provides more in little things like kick chase pressure, repeat sets etc etc than any other winger in the comp. His meters are outstanding and speed creates opportunities. Plus he is exciting and a star for a club. He brings in young fans. I think he deserves a few hundred K above winger money myself, absolutely. How much more? Not sure. But those scoffing that he wants more than a winger wage, I disgree with that folk. I think he deserves it for sure.

Flanagan will team up with his dad at the Sharks in 2022....

Hi friends. First time poster. Spent many a time on here throughout the years reading all the info.

With Burton staying on at Panthers for 2021, does that give us any advantage in getting Laurie for next year?

Apologies if this was mentioned elsewhere.

Cheers.

I guess Penrith are just keeping stocks up in the hopes of challenging for the premiership. A Burton or Laurie this year could prove vital in the event of injury. If they let either walk early and then there is an injury that suddenly could have been filled by one of them they'd look rather foolish. If they were not competing for the premiership they probably would let one or both walk.

to be fair, Laurie can't play until Round 16 anyway under the development rules. Burton's a different case, but I mean you'd hope that Penrith would release him due to it being in the best interests of the player. that said though and as Pom did say, Penrith gain nothing by releasing him to us a year early.

Burton is a big signing for the Dogs.

All they need now is a fullback and a hooker. They’ve got a solid forward pack and some decent outside backs

Big question is whether Barrett can take the step up to head coach or not. Struggled at manly with a good squad

I know they're doing a complete turnover of personnel, but they can't have too much cash left for new recruits now. Surely?

They are probably throwing so more at JAC.

Well they could if we gave them a replacement developmental player.

They'll probably release one of Burton or Laurie. If they release Burton they'll probably upgrade Laurie to a top 30 contract so that he's available prior to round 16 as depth at fullback/halves.

True, but as both are gone after 1 year, Burton would be the better one to keep for 12 months, might even change his mind about leaving if he gets some game time and the dogs stink it up next year

Apparently given a tour to show him their set up
With the doggies pick ups so far they may not have enough cap space for JAC

The Panthers have another very good outside back Sunia Turuva. He made the NRL Schoolboy Firsts Team with Keane Tavui and Brandon Tumeth from WTs. He is related to Api Kororisau. I'd think he'd move into the Top 30.

Yeah aparently it's like the Dogs are spending 7 million on 8 players and the rest of the squad will be development players.
