Rumours of Mitchell Pearce coming now. Thoughts?

If I remember rightly he never wanted to play for us for fear of living in his fathers shadow. He can staying living outside his shadow.

True and good call. He’s not fit to shine his old mans boots as a player...

Mitchell is more talented than his Dad ......but thats where it ends ...wouldn't know a morale fibre if if jumped on his face and wriggled

What cheating on his missus ? He’s hardly the first bloke to do it , and who’s to say what was actually said in those messages , have they been released ?
Some guys just find a hard time keeping it in the pants , doesn’t make him morally bankrupt , just a deadhead on the turps .

Many aren't deaheads on the turps ......how many times does he have to prove he is a tool and only achieved half of what he has achieved because of his name .....that bloke from Penrith who Dad coaches him ....peas in a pod

Mitchell Pearce’s captaincy position at the Newcastle Knights is under review following revelations of an inappropriate text message exchange with a young female club employee that led to the cancellation of his wedding.

Chief executive Phil Gardner and coach Adam O’Brien are known to be bitterly disappointed by his actions in the week leading up to Christmas and just days before his marriage.

Up to 150 guests had been invited to Pearce’s wedding to fiancee Kristin Scott in Byron Bay on Tuesday. The guests were only notified last Wednesday that the wedding was off and were scrambling over the weekend to cancel accommodation and flights.

Pearce said coronavirus restrictions were to blame for the cancellation but The Sunday Telegraph revealed over the weekend the 31-year-old halfback had opened up to teammates after being caught out in a text message scandal that involved a young female employee of the Knights.

He and his partner spent Christmas apart with their families.

The issue has now put his captaincy and long-term future at the club in a shaky position.

Especially at an outfit with so much young talent merging in the likes of Bradman Best and Text Hoy.

The Knights are now looking at other options, although there are no standout contenders.

Superstar fullback Kalyn Ponga is at least 12 months away from taking on such a role.

Front-rowers Dave Klemmer and Daniel Saifiti are the club’s most experienced rep players but don’t have standout leadership claims.

A Newcastle Knights source has told The Australian: “The club is crying out for better leadership. This doesn’t help us because the coach has worked hard to lift standards over the last 12 months.”

Everyone is allowed to make a mistake but Pearce now has a long history of stuffing up and being caught out with inappropriate actions.

O’Brien and Gardner would not answer phone calls or text messages over the weekend.

The only response came from the club’s head of media and communications Frank Barrett.

“The Newcastle Knights are aware of the issue (text messages) but it’s a private matter that stays between the two individuals,” he said. “There will be no further comment.”

Pearce is also off contract at the end of next season and was already stuck in a contract stalemate with the club.

Pearce is on $1 million a year at the Knights but has been offered just half of that amount to extend for another two years. That was before this latest drama.

There is talk he could even finish up back at the Wests Tigers, with the links to the Balmain Tigers where his father Wayne was a club legend.

Mitchells Father wayne was one of the best locks this country produced,part of the invincibles and should have gone on the next tour,but politics won out,Lewis was a lock at the time and was told he would never get past Price or Pearce hence his move to 5/8.Mitchell is/was talented but Junior was exceptional.

I agree, but most people don't choose a career that throws them directly and constantly into the media limelight.

The reality is that it's part and parcel of being a big profile figure, you stuff up, you get called out.

The tall poppy syndrome is alive and well in Aus and that won't change anytime soon, especially with how powerful social media is today.

Brooks has proven time after time he is not a first grade half back. It’s actually preventing marquee players from coming here, it’s make or break this year for him.


I think Liddell will have an injury free year as I’m confident with our physio s, weather he is a full time first grader

Did JAC change his mind after he saw Brooks down at WT headquarters or something?

Packer, Reynolds, Matulino and Mbye were all considered “marquee” the time of the signings. They turned out to be hot dog water all of them, but they were still marquee at the time

So what players have we missed out on because of Luke? And don’t say Latrell, he was always going to souffs once roosters punted him

Lattrell said wanted south had proven halves in Reynolds and walker then looked at our lot and saw josh Reynolds brooks and benji and thought god no don’t blame him.

Do you actually believe that or is it your hidden agenda talking. What about when JAC signed with the dogs with no rated halves. Or the big name signings Titans made with ash Taylor as half

I’ve finally figured out why we can’t sign billy slater, Cameron smith, Cooper Cronk, Greg Inglis. It’s because of Luke Brooks

Junior junior’s form was terrible at the back end of the season. He would be okay in a top 4 team but would struggle with our mob
