Yep. If we get Laurie, mbye will hold the #1 for a while, but might soon find himself in 14 or covering injuries.

He would have to be the best sub in the league given he could play 1-7 & 9 with great skill.

Best is a bit of a stretch...I reckon there would be quite a few that could play better

Name 1 team that would have a better 14?

Are we talking specifically 14 or just players that can play multiple positions?

Ben Hunt, Tyrone May, Tyrone Peachey, Brandon Smith, Cameron Munster off the top of my head

I reckon all those players are much better utilities if used that way.

Cameron Munster is arguably the best player in the NRL so I don’t think you can play him at 14. I’d rather Mbye than Hunt and May

Ben Hunt is severely overrated but he’s better than Mbye imo

He rarely stands out, but he’s had a lot of solid games where he defends well and does his job. His best games were when we first signed him, I especially remember a game against Canberra where he carved them up in 2018. He’s definitely not worth the money he’s being paid, but he’s not the worst player on earth like people make him out to be. I don’t think any tigers fans think he’s some amazing player who should be one of our first picked every week

The gane that most stands out was bulldogs game in rd 7. He ran for 175m. Definately the most energenic and emotional.

He is a solid player... the only reason people are upset at him is because we are paying big $$$... (thanks Ivan)
At the end of the day, it's not Mbye's fault. I'd take that payday also...

I think the trouble is (and I’m not sure why) but he hasn’t been able to nail down a position and as you said for the money he is on, it’s just not good enough.

But I do think he is a good 14 for us if he just wasn’t paid so much.

IMHO, he was great at fullback initially. For whatever reason, (I suspect confidence) he started dropping bombs. It's happened to far better players than him.

He did really good against cowboys until our team got ravaged by injury early last season too. Made some line breaks, scored and assisted too. Most weeks he didn’t do much in attack and defended well, nothing special unfortunately.

IMHO, he was great at fullback initially. For whatever reason, (I suspect confidence) he started dropping bombs. It's happened to far better players than him.

Hopefully he has been working on his confidence under the bomb.

So that's his best performance?
Those 175 metres came off 20 runs. Only 53 post contact metres.
0 line breaks
O line break assists
O try assists
9 tackles, 1 missed tackle
1 Handling error.
1 penalty conceded
Only 3 goals from 7 attempts
And that was a game where the rest of the team boosted their own personal stats.

The last round of 2018 against South when the team basically capitulated killed Mbye’s spirt for the club. He was never the same after that match.

Wow, we're going back to 2018 to find a decent Mbye game. Says it all.

He had a couple last year. Again, he rarely stands out and ain’t worth his money but he can have some good games.

JC99.... What games were they? Generalisations don't work for anything.

Played well against the cowboys until we lost half the team to injury - 1 try, 2 try assists, 1 line break, 1 line break assist, 120 running metres and 5/6 goals. Played well against dogs in round 7 with almost 200 running metres, second time we played dogs he did well too grabbing a try and kicking 4/5 goals. Again not trying to say he’s brilliant, Just saying he’s not incapable of playing well he can play good.

I hope he can be serviceable as a fullback until we sign someone better. Needs to catch the ball though
