I'd be happy with either however I think McInnes is a more likely target. Despite working with Madge at a NZ level, I can't see B.Smith moving to Concord.

Seems most are in agreement re the definition of overs.
But then why when a good player in a position we need comes up do people say “I wouldn’t pay overs”?
Wouldn’t a good fullback/half/winger/hooker be worth their weight in gold to us?!?!?

To me it’s how much you think that player moves the needle . I understand why we offered LM 1 mil because we had Thommo , who tried hard but had to have been a net 0 at fullback . He’s probably worth 700k , but he really would have moved the needle had we signed him , no matter what we paid . It’s contracts like Mbyes , where i don’t think at any point he would have been viewed as someone who made us grossly improved. He would have made us better ,sure , but his value was finite . I think this is what they mean .

I like the term move the needle. This term could also describe a players ability to uplift the brand of the club and attract other premium playing talent. It’s my view that we still need a couple of top line players to ‘move the needle’ to get us right up into that top eight conversation. Crichton from Panthers or Staggs would be that sort of signing. Not much around for 2021 though unfortunately.

Staggs is the one for me . That kid looks like he could be anything , and I trust our coaching staff to get the best out of him. What a crazy statement that would have been a few years ago huh ?

Crichton is the better athlete but Staggs is the better instinctive footballer. And before anyone misinteperates what I say....it takes a special player to look world class in a basket case of a team. That’s what Staggs was last year pre injury. His side was getting pumped but he’dstill be one of the top 3 players on the field.

Id lean towards Staggs

In defence Staggs fitted in perfectly with the basket case of a team. He was terrible.

NRL.com have profiled all the clubs new signings so far for 2021. When comparing clubs I'd say WT have made the best improvement, along with Warriors and Gold Coast.

Sharks, cowboys and broncos are probably the worst so far. Parra have added a few but all plodders

There was a post and picture today on the facebook group 'All About PNG Rugby League' stating that Edene Gebbie finally leaving to join up with Wests Tigers. Nothing official, but looks like Gebbie could be over shortly.

Yeah that was his downfall. I think with proper defensive structures in place and without the pressure of carryin a team he would be fine though
