Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Momirovski’s release request is the third such demand from a different Tigers players in the last 18 months after Ryan Matterson and Josh Aloiai both asked to leave.

Wouldn't be a news article without taking a shot at our club in some way or another. They just couldn't help themselves.

Momo is a good player but is currently 3rd/4th choice at centre and is probably going to be used as a 5/8th back up if injuries occur. Can't see the club releasing him without getting Laurie or a 5/8th in return - would be very poor management tactics.

If only the media can look at a team's roster and work that out for themselves.

I’m probably sounding like Captain Obvious but Tigers not granting a release suggests they are after something in return from whichever club he signs with.
Not sure if he is a front runner with Penrith or Bulldogs for a starting position.

He would have a better shot at Bulldogs, can't see him getting a start at Penrith...which is where we need him to go to get Laurie. This is probably the issue, we want Laurie but Momo wants a starting position.

Momo is a very handy depth player. He played well under Cleary hopefully Ivan gets him across to Penrith. As he did with Eisenhuth.

We've got plenty of depth, don't really understand why they wouldn't let him go to get Laurie in return - unless that's not a guarantee, in which case fair enough no reason to let him go for no reason.

When did Momo for Laurie become a thing? I thought Cini for Laurie was the option.

I'd be disappointed to lose him.

The thing is Roberts and Leilua are no sure things. I wouldn't be rushing to let him go.

If it means getting Laurie then its a no brainer.

We will get injuries as well as players not living up to expectations, so even if Momo is 4th in line for the centre position, I would expect him to play about 12 games for us next year if he remains fit.

Since Momo asked for a release. At this stage he is a more valuable squad player.

If Laurie comes this year he will play more than 12 games.

I can . They are going to start Burton at centre . He is not a centre! Which means , considering Burton is off to the dogs , they have a centre vacancy.
It’s interesting that this release news comes out just after , the Penrith interest report .
I’m just guessing here , but I’d say the riff need a centre , thier best 2 options are other teams players , and arnt centres , they’ve approached Momo’s management (or his management saw the roster spot and approached Penrith) and now the Cini for Laurie stuff is Momo for Laurie . Momo let’s the tigers know he wants out to go to Penrith , but requesting a release , and, the tigers know who they have to negotiate with .
It’s all a game . We will swap Momo for Laurie IMO. Which is fine because we have A lot of centres and really shouldn’t be carrying a guy who is good enough to start for half the teams as our 4th / potentially 5th option if other youngsters come on .
Plus if it happens we leave the final roster spots open for a lock or edge back rower , whether that be a promotion , or external purchase .

Yeah it sounds like this is GM's being GM's. I reckon it will happen too.

don't think I'd want to see Momo head for the exits unless it's in exchange for Laurie. we have no backup 6 until Walters returns (and even he may be off to Brisbane) and he is a far better defensive option than Leilua in the centres.

He’s not going anywhere. I also know this personally. It’s just Penrith expressing their interest

Is Momo only signed with us for this upcoming 2021 season? Is he a free agent come 2022?

Stories I remember reading on his signing with us after the Storm swap were convoluted from memory.

To me the Cini stuff from a Penrith perspective would have been “really is that all we are going to get “ because despite Laurie signing here , that would have severely weakened the roster spot for which he was slotted. As I know he was a development player , but I’d say they were planning on using him after weak 16 , or , if they got a lot of injuries , an exemption to use him earlier .

I have no faith in BJ being a constant NRL centre all season, that’s why we don’t need release Momo.

He’s what 23/24? Now is the time for him to establish himself .
This next year is make or break for him . Whether he’s going to a Shane Elford type , which is a very good centre, but not elite , or an elite centre .... for Huddersfield Giants .
