That Sam Burgess thing can't be true....surely not to play????

Apparently so

Reeks of desperation. shambles of a franchise.

It’s embarrassing

If that gets approved then yeah, the board and everyone else should be sacked.

But surely, given he was medically retired, could he be signed?? Seems like a rort to me

Well if you actually read the non-article ...Sam or should I say Bwiath said he's not coming back anywhere..it was one of them clicky bait things..

As reported by The Daily Telegraph, a pair of clubs – one believed to be the Wests Tigers – have miraculously moved to sign the 32-year-old, who medically retired in 2019 after ongoing shoulder issues.

Just caught this chestnut, I hope to god that this isn't true.If it is, the sackings should start at the top and work its way down to anyone that thinks its a good idea.

I think if you read the article it says he won’t come back.

Interesting article I’d say burgess may be thinking of a come back I’d say it would come from Souths not holding up their end of the bargain by not offering him a coaching job.

Sounds like he’d be satisfied with a coaching job somewhere but who else would take him?

I hear Eric Simms is interested in making a comeback too, we could use a good goal kicker - may as well sign him up Madge!

Actually, are Tony Ford or Dave Barnsley available?

Barsley.

Yep - he was a good one!

Agreed. Good footballer. Good kicker. Champion bloke.

We need leaders in this team. No one chats and encourages during adversity. Bring back Woods, Siro, Nathan Brown. I cant believe I am admitting this but I would think about bringing back Mitch Moses too

That flog Moses' name should never be mentioned ever.

Why? Because he was treated like crap by the same bloke who tore our club to pieces?

I forgive Moses seeing how Cleary treated our club. He probably treated him the same for all we know.

My understanding was that Moses had a contract sitting on the table for a matter of months and he chose to sit and wait for something better and then his contract was taken off the table. Is there something Im missing? Correct me if I'm wrong, but if that's the case then it's hardly treating him like crap. He chose to carry on like an immature fool after his contract was taken off the table.

Nearly 12 months from memory.

Don't forget that Mitchell (Isaac Moses) agreed to terms with the Roosters before he had a change of mind (extra dollars) and extended with the Tigers. That caused Uncle Nick to swear he's never do business with anybody who was a client of Isaac Moses again. Minchello had to act as the go-between to get Tedesco there.

Mitchell and Isaac have got a bit of form in this area....

In the meantime Madge and hartigan are continuing their outside the box style by signing another young PNG players

The Mole: Some much-needed good news for Tigers fans - the club has signed a brilliant young try-scoring winger from Papua New Guinea - effective immediately.

Jimmy Ngutlik, a 20-year-old speedster who was born in PNG but has been playing for Redcliffe Dolphins in Brisbane, has been on the radar of several NRL clubs.

But the Tigers have come to terms with the young flyer, who can also play centre, and he is expected to start in the club's under 20s in coming weeks.

With the problems the Tigers have been having in the top grade out wide this year, don't be surprised if he gets a start in the NRL once he has settled in to life in the big city.

If that is true it is another positive step for the future

Sign Dufty for Fullback
Reynolds to Replace Brooks
Ferguson to wing
Move Laurie to the halves
Doueihi to centre
Shift Brooks to 14

1 *Dufty*
2 *Ferguson*
3 Doueihi
4 Talau / Gebbie
5 Nofoaluma / Fitzgibbon
6 *Reynolds*
7 Laurie
8 Amone
9 Simpkin
10 Stefano
11 Simpkins
12 Blore
13 *Hastings*

14 Brooks
15 Twal
16 Musgrove
17 Ofahengaue

18 Liddle
19 Tamou
20 Garner
21 Asu

Gone are
Mbye
Roberts
Bj

Our can forwards go ok but when our backs let them down continuously then they crumble
We need to invest in new backs
I think those Signings are achievable
If we could also sign a Staggs it would go a long way
Would also like John Morris to join Madge
I think he is a players coach

John Morris may also be able to attract some decent players

Manly cut us up through the middle...our forwards are not going ok.

We should have scored easier then from a deflected kick
We had plenty of ball in their 20 but we couldn't break the line
Both teams were tackled 20 times in the opposition 20 which says something
Manly's backs scored 6 tries
Our backs scored 0
It was a lucky try from us
We need to be able to break their line more often with the ball in hand
All the hard work to get us there and we always seem to struggle to put the ball down over the line
It doesn't install alot of confidence in the team and we drop our heads
We had 52% of the ball in the 1st half And 6 points from a lucky try

Diabolical in our attacking 20. no one calling the shots, no one standing up. one out garbage. Love to see the stats on what we actually do down there

IT actually blows my mind that our most consistent and best player in Laurie keeps being moved out of the position he is killing. Surely we lock that down as one of the few positions we have a solid player and be working on the ones we don't.

He's young and a talent, could become a very good fullback but reality is he is far from killing it at the moment.

While he has many friends among these his line defense is atrocious, urgency in getting across on the goal line poor, stifling backline plays by running sideway, positioning at the back for kicks is iffy.
Taking the rose coloured glasses off the only things he is offering is being a bit elusive and solid under the highball.

All that been said i would persist with him at fullback we have enough "5/8's"

It's almost as if he missed pre-season and isn't on the same wave length as many of his teammates

Hard to gauge sarcasm on here at times however I hope that's what you were trying to achieve? He literally joined the team 3 weeks before season started and only had like 1 trial match to get to know his team mates and their playing styles.

Reading the Mole comments it sounds like Dogs have got Naden over us and Eels.
Big money it sounds like so good luck to them paying overs for ANOTHER back.
We as a club could do with a big name signing to take some pressure off but very unlikely.

I get the feeling that Mikaele will leave. I have a sneaky feeling a certain former captain might make a comeback as a replacement.

Naden is good but I bet you he won't be worth what Barrett will pay him. He's also got defensive issues and off field issues... would've liked him but we shouldn't try compete with bulldogs money for someone like him

Is it time to bring our fearless (former) leader home?

Agree I would not be over paying for a guy with concerns until he proves himself.
But From Naden side I would not knock back big dollars either to join us unfortunately.

Maybe need a few more props, get rid of those few remaining pesky outside backs we have

I agree and at the right price that former captain would be a good buy

I feel like the game has passed him. With the current speed of the ruck his backing in to the line and being held upright kills a lot of momentum.

Wouldn't make a bad cheap replacement for injury but can't see him making any impact to our pack.

How about no thank you. A player who runs up thw line backwards, player who when the going gets tough he gets up and leaves trying to take others with him out the door?

Signing him back would be very typical WT-like, and the sort of mediocre signing that has been our 'culture' and problem these last ten years.

Please don't bring him back, I hope we can turn into a good team, Woodsy returning will do nothing but solidify our reputation as a laughable team tjat doesn't compete.

Naden's management asked for a counter offer late Sunday afternoon.
Our offer was 2 year deal $300,000 for year 1 & $350,000 for year 2.
Bulldogs have offered him $1.3mill over 3 years, averaging just shy of $450,000 a year.
