Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I hear Oliver Gildart is a done deal.

very nice. with BJ a certainty to not be retained and the jury still out on JTJ, we need another centre. with Kei and Hoffman in the top 30 next year we don't need too many but hopefully Gildart makes the transition. a winger and a 13 now thanks Harty.

Gildart has abit of speed, good step and hands - his size would be a worry for nrl level but he is young and can still fold out. Hope we didn’t break the bank on him.

Recent history is up against him, as no English back in the modern era has made it out here. It’s good to see the club are thinking outside the box though. Just wish they were targeting pommy forwards.

Just hope we haven’t paid a heap for him.

Widdop was brilliant but is an exception. Hall was solid for the Roosters but had big names infront of him.

Backs struggle as they aren’t use to the speed & size during development stages. Here you are always up against big boppers from under 7 upwards, there it’s very different they don’t have anything like that to help the development. He is young & appears talented touchwood and we get an exception. Hastings plays his side of the park which could take a load off him as well.

Pros:

* Runs really hard with the ball - when he's switched on

* High work rate - when he's switched on

* Offloads all the time: to his own team - when he's switched on

* Faster than he looks

* Nice bloke, quiet but well-spoken and great smile

Cons:

* Has no idea what to do in defence - even with simple even numbers plays

* Goes missing for months at a time

* Is switched on for two or three weeks per season

* Drops his bundle when things go wrong

All the best Esan.

I thought you were describing Nofa there 😉

They're both very similar in style ?

2021 by any chance?

Dunno but doubt it. I hear exact terms are still being ironed out but it will happen.

last time Pom was on here he said we were looking at James Bentley who's a 13 for St Helens I believe

If my memory is correct, we still have 2 more signings to be made this year, I wonder who the club is looking at, I'm hoping they are backs, but we need them now, not in another couple of months or so.
Hurry up guys, the clock is ticking.

Gildart has a bit of pace to him and a decent pass. If we're not throwing major coin at Naden you'd think Oliver's deal isn't big either. Only 24. Low risk, sensible signing.

Danny Weidler reports the playing future of outstanding Warriors winger David Fusitu’a is in serious doubt. He is battling personal issues. Footy is the least of his priorities at the moment. Reckon he's homesick for sure.

I like the look of him and just watched his 2019 season highlights. Its hard to gauge a little as the Super League defences are absolutely disgraceful.

Talk about short memories Esan was let go for good reason. He just didn't cut in attack or defense - and the Cowboys paid good money to discover that too.
He is still young enough to turn things around but he has a mountain of work to do.

Talk about short memories, we didn't learn and signed Joey Leilua.

He went back to NZ last year too right? Obviously has some stuff going on back there poor bugger.

Are we talking about Esan or BJ - or is it Cleary v Maguire?

Would make sense. Has been terrible since the covid hit. His head is obviously not in it. He was a wonderful player before 2020.
