Talks between Bulldogs & Tigers with DWZ advanced quickly over the weekend, strong chance he's playing for us against Eels in round 14.
Money being the biggest issue for 2022, dogs expected to chip in around the $300-$350k mark, Tigers offering this season & 22/23

That would still leave us paying a good $500k for DWZ next year wouldn't it? Seems too much. Not against the signing, he's a solid enough winger but wouldn't pay a cent more than $400k a season, ideally $350k a season

This is were the negotiations are currently, you'll find his total value will be spread out over the length of the deal, secure long term future with a lower price.

Announcement in the next 48 hours??

Thanks @THE_POM , are we looking at anyone else??

Brisbane have closed the door on Issako (For now), don't think they expected the backlash from the well documented trip, Every chance Walters will still be released to free up another roster spot.
James Roberts has all but sealed his option being activated for 2022. Leilua not looking likely he'll be here, was briefly discussed that they'll let the option expire & then re-negotiate terms with BJ on a lesser deal but have to see if he's keen on that.
Discussion with re-signing Luciano have begun & everyone involved is confident something will be confirmed prior to November 1st

Thanks Pom, hope we’re not paying JTJ any more money, apart from finishing a couple of tries on the weekend, what has he done?! Needs to prove he actually wants to be a footy player. I hope we hold off for another month.

His option for 2022 is only 50k more than this year.

Good value if he can stay on the pitch

No big fish Jonesy, but at least we're getting dwz who's a big turkey

@THE_POM, thanks for the update, with Gildart coming, Talau and Roberts who play centre, is Doueihi moving back to 6, where does that leave Hastings.
It is always good to have options, just wondering if Doueihi is happy playing centre long term, I think he wouldn't be, he has stated often he is a 6, and wants to play there

it's hard to judge a back and his quality when playing in a team with no halves or hooker, and have come bottom 2 for the last 5 years or so
whilst i'm not a huge fan of it, if it's cheap enough it plugs a hole we currently have and **offers some fullback coverage too**
guessing that means isaako is a no go

The backup fullback coverage is important in being able to let Mbye go.

If I remember rightly, they were talking about Lock for Hastings... originally...

sure is
people can push mbye out as much as they want, but without him we have no fullback coverage (you can argue that AD can play there but we tried that before)
chasing isaako, and now DWZ at 300-350k allows us to pay 450k for mbye and still come out on top 100-150k PLUS have a back-up fullback
not the worse trade off

Poor signing ..

He makes more errors than nofo and Talau combined .

I really don't get why you would pay anything for him. I back Maguire on most things but have seen nothing from DWZ that would warrant earning a contract ahead of a developing player - apart from helping the worst attacking side move him on. Don't get it

Might be time to put some live mullet out the back..... Soft Plastics don't seem to be working

Re DMZ

It is worth noting he has ONE try assist in the past two seasons...ONE...and has played a ton of FB, where passing is crucial.

He is, by far, the worst FB in the comp.

Yes, he may be better at winger.

But on the past 18 months he is about the same level as his brother.

He would want to be 'really' heavily subsidised by the Dogs for us to even consider him IMO.

Often disagree with you but on this - 100%

Not sold on DWZ but two weeks ago couldn't come up with a name to put in the backline.
So having some FG standard depth or toilers isn't the worse.

Just hope its fairly cheap

They did, I was not really buying that, Hastings is a 7, maybe a 6, played some 1 and 9, 13 sounds a smokescreen, but you never know.
He would have a combination with Gildart, so playing in the halves would probably be the smart move

I’d rather give Fitzgibbon a shot
DWZ is puss

I hope the DWZ deal falls through. I really don't see him adding to our squad, unless we're looking at depth, in which case he's over priced.
