Same mistakes over and over. We embarked on a proper youth strategy a couple of years ago which seems to be working and now we are bringing in average players who really aren’t worth the prices they are asking and being discarded by others for a reason, mind you. That’s not how youth get experience in first grade.

No team can carry 3 or 4 rookies making 4 errors a game just so they can get get experience. There are a lot of basic skills that need to be mastered before first grade. Effort, ball security, reading an attack, tackling technique and many other skills should all be learnt in under 21's and reserve grade, and developing players should be our main focus in those grades. Some players will become impatient and leave and some will be ready for first grade at 17.

It is a difficult balancing act but we have promoted some players in too early in the last few years because we did not have enough depth in our roster.

James Roberts has all but sealed his option being activated for 2022. Leilua not looking likely he'll be here, was briefly discussed that they'll let the option expire & then re-negotiate terms with BJ on a lesser deal but have to see if he's keen on that.

But he's still done nothing to warrant an extension at this stage. Friday was his first decent game, and even then he wasn't targeted in defence once all game. Did he even make a tackle?

Even if he's cheap he takes up a squad position that isn't going to the likes of Ogden. We already have Hoffman and Kei next season taking up space next season, we can't fill out the squad with a whole heap of sub par players.

100% BB - surely we should be giving the likes of these priority and spending the dollars in other key positions?!

Talau can barely catch a footy and we can't afford to have him in first grade. DWZ fixes that problem. Madge has clearly shown he's willing to give rookies a go regardless of who's in the top 30, stop worrying about things that haven't happened.

Your whole team can't just be rookies who are finding their feet, you won't win games then the best ones leave for the big clubs - it's all about balancing youth and experience.

Madge and hartigan have been massive in the youth department, they know what they're doing in that regard. No need to worry about it just because we are wanting to sign a 25 year old New Zealand international in a position we desperately need. We've still got plenty of spots in our 30 next year

On 350k a year he's a fine signing. The talented youngsters in the backline we have are a few years yet (Saukuru, Compton) and guys like Hoffman and especially Kei, are not ready atm. Cini deserves another shot imo but hasn't achieved 1/20 of what DWZ has.

By '23 DWZ has either recaptured good form or a benchie and our young blokes have kicked on.

He's not a bad player and 100 miles ahead of Jennings, Nick Meaney, Tuala, Toa who start for NRL teams on not that much less. He's Momorovski level atm and they'd be roughly the same price.

Just another good, solid player to have around the team. The rebuild continues well.

Agree ..... he’ll do a job for us on the wing .... something our occupants have struggled to do all season.
Also a cheap fullback backup ..... he’s a type of player that ... if signed by the Storm system would flourish his career ..... so I suppose it’s up to Tigers system. And on Madge to call it.

We embarked on a proper youth strategy a couple of years ago which seems to be working and now we are bringing in average players who really aren’t worth the prices they are asking and being discarded by others for a reason, mind you. That’s not how youth get experience in first grade.

What duds have we signed and who's spot are they taking.... we desperately need a winger, what young winger is standing out?

Talau can barely catch a footy and we can't afford to have him in first grade. DWZ fixes that problem. Madge has clearly shown he's willing to give rookies a go regardless of who's in the top 30, stop worrying about things that haven't happened.

Your whole team can't just be rookies who are finding their feet, you won't win games then the best ones leave for the big clubs - it's all about balancing youth and experience.

Madge and hartigan have been massive in the youth department, they know what they're doing in that regard. No need to worry about it just because we are wanting to sign a 25 year old New Zealand international in a position we desperately need. We've still got plenty of spots in our 30 next year

He must be good if clubs keep offloading him. Employers never let the good ones go.
