Surely the Bulldogs are going to be either pressured to release some players to keep some off contract or there are off contract players that are available.

580-600k is fair value certainly not upwards of 700k which he is going to get.Dogs will be rolling in their own poo within 2 years due to overpayments

At his best the outlay for TPJ is fine (from the Dogs). The issue is how often he produces said best. I’m also told he’s not the most appealing personality going around.

If I was a Dogs fan I’d be a little worried they’re moving into similar territory to where we were a few years back. A lot of money tied up for multiple years for a group that look good on paper but look a little unstable. I’m not saying it won’t work for them but it’s risky. As I’ve said elsewhere, buying a bunch of experienced NRL players en masse rarely works.

Mate Bulldogs have won less games in the last two seasons than Tigers have won in 2021 alone, and the consensus is Tigers are having a bad year.

Bulldogs have no position to be crowing or carrying on; they've been an absolute shambles on and off field for several seasons now.

Whatever you think about the Bulldogs for 2022, there hasn't been a ball kicked or tackle made yet, so you can only crow after the results have actually come in. I am sure Titans fans were tempted to crow last year about their 2021 fortunes, and they've done bugger-all with the huge signings they pulled off.

I agree, very Cleary-esque.

It's already been borne out in 2021 - Flanagan a flop, Cotric a flog, Corey Allan a flop. Hetherington still getting suspended, desperate to offload DWZ. I don't think Luke Thompson has worked out yet. Joe Stimson completely gone missing since Storm. They've had to sign plodders like Ava Seumanufunguy to plug the holes in their roster.

So they do have a few good signings for 2022 but I don't see that those new faces are going to swan in and change what has been a long-term losing culture, going on 5 straight seasons of poor to very poor results. Dogs appear to lack much capacity in their juniors either - Averillo is alright, but hardly brand new, and the new kid Biondi-Otto is fleet-footed, if small.

I just agree that Dogs are doing what Tigers did under Cleary - buying name players and hoping they turn things around, but being compelled to sign them to long-duration high-value deals to get the signings done. And Dogs don't seem to have learned anything from the dealings with DWZ, Aaron Woods or Kieran Foran.
