I'd take Woods over Tamou tbh.

Woods is a ? in coming home imo

I was deadset against this. I hated 'it is what it is', and having our captain try and lure our best talent away from the club. But he's a former Origin and Test prop. He is a local junior, who is one of few that would feel anything for that jersey. I'm not saying he is Benji, but Benji wore an Auckland Blues jersey while still playing for us, and then later came out and said he was immature and shouldn't have done what he did. Which is what Woods is saying now. The future of the pack (Stefano, Blore, Tuki) has basically no experience. Could do worse.

Gutho would be an excellent motivator and improve the team dynamic for sure.

Imagine if one of our players had blown up on the field we would be bashed from pillar to post by the media, whereas he does it twice and it is deemed passion

He is a flog and the haircut is just the cream on the cake to affirm it.

If you write it on your arm, it's a ban. If you say it out loud it's tolerable.

Woods as a player is okay and would not be a terrible signing based on abilities. However, the way he disrespected the club on his way out means he gets a big no from me.

"There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love" - Moses Mbye

I'm all out of love and forgiveness when it comes to this man.

Wouldn't know how he is playing as I don't watch for him. Similarly for Tedesco and the tanker, even though they are somewhat harder to ignore.

Please NO to Sharron, will not provide us anything at all except a $$$$ value of some amount that will take away from a young up and comer while putty his feet up on the couch and say retirement is great isn't it

Marata Nikore is off-contract, a centre who can tackle and can catch and hold the ball 🤫

Some great quotes in here from Pascoe in 2017:

We did everything we could to keep James Tedesco and Aaron Woods: Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe
By Michael Chammas
April 21, 2017 — 7.47pm
Wests Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe insists the club did everything in its power to retain James Tedesco and Aaron Woods.

The Tigers are disappointed the superstar duo didn't take up the lucrative four-year contracts offered to them, failing to notify the Tigers of their intention before the Friday, 5pm deadline imposed on the pair during the week. Woods is bound for Canterbury, while Tedesco is set to sign with the Sydney Roosters for next season – leaving Luke Brooks as the sole survivor of the "big four" following Mitchell Moses' decision to sign with Parramatta.

Deadline passed: Wests Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe says he is comfortable with how the Tigers conducted the contract negotiations.

"I'm really comfortable that we afforded them every opportunity to stay here," Pascoe said of Woods and Tedesco. "We can always learn from the way we do things. It's been a challenging time for all involved. These things take time. Throughout any negotiations there's a lot of going back and forth. But we're really comfortable with the fact that we afforded the players every opportunity that we could to stay at the club.

"We respect their decision and they'll continue to play with the heart they've played with for this organisation for some time now for the rest of the season."

The defection of their three biggest names leaves the Tigers with close to a $4 million war chest to spend next year, with Josh Reynolds high on their list after learning Gareth Widdop is set to re-sign at the Dragons.

The club is hopeful Ben Matulino and Russell Packer will add some mongrel to a pack that will be without Woods next year, excited about the prospect of finally overcoming what has seemed like a never-ending battle with salary cap restraints.

"The club is in a really exciting position," Pascoe said. "We've had years and years of salary cap challenges. We believe we've built some really robust processes to make sure that doesn't happen in the future. [In] 2018, there's a lot of freedom around our salary cap.

"For the first time in probably the club's 17-year history, we enter a market that has nearly 200 players on the market with a freed-up salary cap and significant amount of power to help build this club's roster into a strong football team."

The decision to impose a deadline on Woods and Tedesco was designed to give the club more time to move in the player market in the event the pair decided to leave the Tigers.

Pascoe stands by the decision to set a deadline and believes it was made in the interest of both the club and the players.

"The intent and motivation behind that was to place some certainty, not only for the club but for the players as well," Pascoe said. "That deadline passed today at 5pm and as a result of not receiving official confirmation from the players' manager, the club has decided to withdraw the current contract offers in place.

"Both James and Aaron and their manager have been really engaging throughout the process. This has been a really challenging time for all parties. It's gone a long time and certainly with regret that it has gone on for so long. But these are really tough decisions for any player who has been at a club for a long time.

St George Illawarra Dragons set to retain Gareth Widdop as Wests Tigers turn to Josh Reynolds
"Whether we like it or not, it is a business today and the players have been going through the process of making a decision that is in the best interest of themselves and their families.

"We have the utmost respect for that and for them in doing that. Imposing the deadline, that creates certainty so that we can make decisions in the best interest of the club and the club first. We will always act in the best interests of the club.

Woodsy goes ok for mine , ppl say he disrespected the club , but that was two way traffic as the club promised to bring in forwards to help him carry the load and they delivered nada

Woods said in his press video that his name is mentioned to every club and now that the deadline has passed it should slow down.... Interesting as the deadline has not been mentioned anywhere and if it has in fact closed when does the club announce the upgrades to internal players to make us at 30 ?? Maybe they will update us in the off season :face_with_rolling_eyes:
In past years they would have informed members and fans of this so either its closed and they are waiting on approvals or maybe its extended.

As much as I like Lomax he’s not the player that we need going forward. If the tigers are committed to developing our juniors like they say they are we are bound to have great centres come thru. The tigers lack mental resilience, so instead we should look to target Brandon Smith for next season and Clint Gutherson for the following season. These 2 give 100% every game and their ‘McGuire players’. Tbh I don’t where Gutho would play but to have him in the team would be a massive boost to the team.

**Lomax is not the player we need?**

He is a better centre than who we have and who we have played in our NRL team.
i.e. Joey, JTJ, Talau, Mbye, AD, AJ, Pauga, MCK - probably missed someone.

He is better than who we have coming through in at least the next three years.
i.e. Hoffman, Cooper, Kei, Cini, Wilson, Hughes, Fuatimau, Alexander, Tavui, Soakai and so on.

You must have a centre that is a plausable get up your sleeve that is invisable to all others.

Funny you forgot about the best one of the lot, Ogden.

Knew I had forgotten somebody Needa.

Still prefer Lomax.

Will be a good signing getting Woodsy back. No issues from me

I'm with you and he would come cheap... He would give his all unlike some others here

Actually crazy the amount of people who think woods is a good move. Not even going to mention all the crap when he left but he was a bog average player that has somehow gone even further backwards. This club is asking to be ridiculed and mocked for decisions like these

I seriously don’t know. Given his downward spiral, performance wise, after leaving the Wests Tigers I somehow doubt it. But I could be wrong.
