Parra fans on twitter are proposing a brooks for brown (d) is on the cards.

Not keen on this one. I’d take Dylan Brown but not at brooks expense

I'm a Brooks fan but that would genuinely be sensational. Brown is restricted by Moses. him at 7 would change us completely. would be brilliant next to Doueihi. that said I doubt it happens

Quite a lot of our players have regressed in their standard of play. How long can WTs afford to stick with Maguire?

Depends on how you look at it Utoikamanu, Laurie, Blore, Maumalo, Luciano, Douihei, Twal, Mikalele, Ofehengaue are players who play for Madge.

The group that doesn’t Mbye, Brooks, BJ, Liddle, Nofa.

Which group is the club trying to move on? That will tell you what will happen with Madge.
The players regressing under madge are the players that have to be moved on not the coach.

The narrative is wrong it’s being pushed by media and people are jumping on it without realising the issue it’s our senior players.

Our playing group is better than what our performances and place on the ladder suggest.

The issue is with Maguire and he should be sacked asap.

I disagree with pretty much everything you said.

This is the same playing group that Maguire has to a large extent signed or re-signed. You involve yourself in a blame shifting exercise. Put Maguire on the market and no club would want him. Put Brooks and Liddle on the market and plenty of clubs would be interested.

I wonder how many supporting Maguire actually have a vested interest in doing so - you know snouts - trough?

We are a bottom 2 roster as was called by a majority of experts at the start of the year. It’s a rebuild. Our level of mediocrity predates Maguire as no one has had the balls to take a long term approach. It’s about living in reality and not some fantasy land where we have a good team and the coach can’t coach.

I’ve heard this from many wishful thinkers.
The roster is average and will only be rebuilt slowly through youth.

If there’s an upgrade I’m all for changing the coach. There won’t be one, no good young coach is coming here. Flanagan is the only realistic option. I’d prefer they stick with Madge.

At the end of the day whatever decision the management with Sheens on board makes will be the right one but using arguments like Madge’s roster etc is a joke. He can only sign who wants to come here and the mess was not created by him.

Well said tyga

I've been saying this for ages

Some people just don't get it though and never will

They have blinkers on

Madge may not be the answer in the end but changing coaches over the years has got us no where

Everything bar the NRL squad is heading in the right direction

Just need to wait for the youngsters to develop

I agree. Though Madge has his deficiencies (which would be mitigated by a half competent assistant or two) it isn’t his fault in my opinion that we can’t attract talent.

Had a little browse through the roosters forum for Fantasy/Draft purposes and found a thread on the Butcher Bros. In relation to Egan being rumoured to us there were some interesting responses…

**Quote 1 -** “Money does talk, but how much value does that hold against learning your craft in a better system at such a young age.

If he remains with us for another 3 years his value will be much higher at the end of his next contract than if he were to go to the tigers and fall prey to their player management.”

**Quote 2 -** “ I can see why they're interested - he's been great the last month but can't see that going to the tigers is a good career move at this stage”

**Quote 3 -** “ I would love to see the Tigers have success but if I was Egan I would stay away from them”

Even with AD when he signed with us said that all his friends/family told him to accept his Roosters offer and to decline the Tigers offer (which I think we offered more $).

To me, our recruitment (or lack thereof) doesn’t seem like a Madge problem, but a club problem.

Club needs to rebrand itself to the public. Getting better facilities via the COE and hopefully the doco series can stimulate public opinion to see us in a more favourable light.

Madge isn’t going great in many areas, though the recruitment troubles were conceived long before he got here in my opinion.

Hard to argue with any of those quotes. Are you sure you were on the Rorters forum? lol

Funnily enough (or it's not really funny actually) but the biggest way we can turn around our poor image is to win and to do that we need better players (like Butcher). If he came over, we could attract another, and another, and then finally be a better team.

Arrogant bastards. How quickly they forget the 80s and 90s, and a good chunk of the 2000s.

Dylan Brown for Brooks.
Where do we sign?

Agreed. Brown is an unreal defender already which is rare for such a young half and he’s quick. Age is on his side and he’s worth the cheque book.

Yeah but he’s another 5/8. Again, if Doueihi moves to lock i am for it but we need a halfback to take the lead…

Hastings perhaps?

Interesting to note that not only is Brandon Smith off contract at the end of 2022 but Harry Grant actually has a Mutuak option for 2023 so if effectively off contract at the end of 2022 at this stage as well. I say go all in for Harry

last year showed having Grant in our team isn't priority and I would extend that to Smith as well.

We had Grant and still missed the finals terribly, we have far more important areas to fill before throwing marquee money at Hooker.

Without Grant we’d be last.

But seriously, I’d throw 1Milly at Grant. Even 1.1..

The influence and everything he had on the whole of Wests Tigers, I actually never felt or seen that effect a player can do to a team.

What do you do with the two capable hookers we presently have?

The 19 yr old nsw cup player or the injury riddled bloke who missed 8 tackles vs the Warriors and left dummy half empty and tjrows a bunch of average passes. You give them to someone else snd take the Origin star

Too bad the tigers have re-signed Liddle.

Only for 2 years and Grant would not leave the Storm until 2023 anyway.
You could offload Liddle pretty easy I reason and Simpkin could be a super sub / back up.

Or you could get rid of Simpkin and keep the better hooker at only 24.

Lol ? or get rid of the guy who can't play 80 minutes and misses 6 tackles and throws passes around ankles. At least Simpkin is still developing. Simpkin will be an 80 min hooker

At this stage Simpkin is below average - will he ever get above the mediocrity line....who knows. Anyone can play 80 mins Mate. It is how you play the eighty minutes. The games I saw Simpkin play in the NRL, he was not an 80 minute player either.

I think I would get rid of the guy who also can't play 80 minutes, stands with his hands on his hips after he passes the ball, hogs the ball in try scoring situations, slow as a wet week, no experience and couldn't tackle a decent size sandwich.

There is so much wrong with that I can’t even respond, your love of Liddle blinds you from seeing his missed tackles poor passes and ball hogging himself.
I didn’t down vote your post because I don’t down vote, but boy I really should have

Personally I don't interact with you any more.

However just so you know in spades.... I don't give a rats what you do... Downvote as much as you like.

I’d keep the 2 hookers we have atm, as well. They do the job and wouldn’t cost the earth to keep, unlike Harry probably will?

I think we have more pressing positions to cover before we worry about the 9.

I think 9 is a big issue. We need players in other positions more but your hooker touches the ball more than anyone and currently we don't have a decent one.

I think Jake Simpkin will come good but he's still so young and Liddle is struggling big time. Our service and direction from hooker is lacking and that's one of the reasons our attack is so slow.

We have to trust in our development system. Simpkin was a dominant hooker in the QLD system. He will come good in my view will be the starting 9 next season. Lack of reserve grade is really hurting teams like us looking to build through youth.

If Simpkin is the 9 next year - God help us.

TBH, I don’t like the bloke. But should we spend big on a back or a forward?

He's not worth that.

This team lacks the drive to win .. I do not care who they bring in backs /forwards as long as they have a winning attitude and are driven on field ..Gutho fills those requirements but not at a $1 mill .. $850 maybe how old is he ?

We already have a dynamic FB - people on here said we don't need to look for at least 10 years. Obviously why people didn't want Hynes.

Hastings at 7 and Brown at 6 with Douehi at Centre or Lock would be a HUGE upgrade on what we have currently

Lol ? or get rid of the guy who can't play 80 minutes and misses 6 tackles and throws passes around ankles.

This is possibly the worst take on any up and coming player I have ever read.

Russell loves Liddle so much he literally said he'd have him over Harry Grant

Can you please show me where I said that.

Here's you saying you think Liddle is the better dummy half and opposing letting go of Liddle for Grant. Your extreme love is Liddle is evident and I was merely showing that haha, I'm impressed by how you stick by him through thick and thin.

Mate, what people are saying about Liddle is much worse. If you don't like it ..... we are all entitled to our opinions, this is a public forum.

What are people saying about Liddle that's so outrageous? His distribution is below average bordering on poor and he is not a strong defender. That is just the cold hard truth

We will need gods help either way ?

Can you imagine that trade???? We would be is serious deep poo. Needing a back rower, lock, centre, winger and a half back! Would guarantee wooden spoon for the next decade. We could not be that stupid to even entertain the thought! Ok i give up!!! Some really are dumb!

Mate we haven't had a halfback since Robert Lui
