Great news... I would assume if we are letting him go we would have another target up our sleeve ?

I think Gutho is in a bit of a Josh Reynolds like category. Everyone talks about his competitiveness, and he's definitely a good player, but he's not that fast or that big or particularly skilful.

I wouldn't spend big money on him and I think he suits the Eels. Not sure he'd be all that impressive for us.

Is he a really consistent last tackle kicker? No. Does he organise a backline? No. Is he like Latrell Mitchell or Turbo in just being such an athlete that he can single handedly change the game? No.

So he's a clever, scheming, quality support player who plays really hard, and that sort of player would be great, but you don't want him as your big money signing. Just my opinion.

Inclined to agree. I wouldn't think him to be in the top 5 fullbacks in the game. I'd rate Turbo, Teddy, Pappy, RTS and Latrell all in front of him. I would rather chuck a million at Manu if I was going hunting for a big name back.

Sad thing is when Moses was jumping ship we tried to get Gutho in a swap. Parra said no and we let Moses go anyway. We should have tried a bit harder.

We still had Teddy then so it wasn't a dire situation. Then Teddy dogged us and we missed out hanging onto Pappy and a quality replacement. Honeydicked us big time.

Does anyone know much about a guy called Tony Sukkar from our 2021 Balmain Tigers Harold Matthews squad.
Souths forum are talking him up and wondering if he is under contract or not and if he goes ok.

Front rower and captain of the Balmain Harold Matts this year, so only very young still. Souths juniors are middle of the road, kind of like Balmain this year so it wouldn't surprise me if they made a play for him.

Thank goodness for that. Almost as good as a signing, in some aspects better as it gets the fake out of the squad so he can’t influence the young blokes anymore.

We have an absolute truck load of money to spend so we’ll probably front load contracts again.

The way we are going attracting external players we will front load all players and have a full salary cap free for 2023 :joy: :joy:
