market is dry as a bone. better off planning for 2023 and signing a few players after November 1 and trying to get them a year early.

That’s a pretty pitiful home truth given the amount of space there is in the cap. But really, how do we expect to fair any better trying to attract players in for 2023?

I'm not sure mate, but we have done our business late these past few years. Daine, Luch, Stef, Doueihi and Joffa all come to mind. I'm not sure what we have in mind but we will certainly have money to spend.

I would think Sims could be like Beau Scott was for Parramatta at the back end of his career. Teach the team how to defend and I would support a 2 year contract (max )which would have him and Blore in the second row and Luc coming off the bench as an impact forward to create some attack as he was dreadful in defence for most of the year.

He was not alone but he did create gaps for the centres and wingers and we all know Noffa loves to blame others for having to come in, leaving his wing open.

Imagine if we had gone all in for Saab when he wanted a Sydney club.. Size and Speed ???

Sims is not a good defender. He's got 1 less 'try cause' than Luciano Leilua

Yeah he's missed more tackles than Luch this year and average running metres is less by 20m per game than Luch.

If Luciano's defence drives people nuts, Sims will drive them over the edge.

Would rather us go for Bateman based on his form in Canberra, but he's been lukewarm even in the ESL, missing 34 tackles in 15 games. Averages 110m per game though.

Just read on the mole NRL that Jimmy the Jets younger brother Michael is a classy 17 year old utility back who is contracted to the Titans for next season but is free to talk to rival clubs from Nov 1st.Can play five-eighth or fullback and is every bit as fast as his brother.Maybe Jimmy can get him to the Tigers and apparently there are clubs lined up to talk to him already.

Or to follow the Storm's approach and sign a young quality player. It isn't the brain surgery, and we have done it the last year: Utoikamanu and Laurie!

The biggest recruitment and retention failure we have had revolves around a lack of on field leadership.

We lost Benji Marshall, Chris Lawrence and Elijah Taylor in quick succession.

Other players we had looked at for leadership like Packer, Mautalino, Musgrave,McQueen, Thompson and a couple of others did not work out for one reason or another.

These players were never replaced. All we got was a washed up James Tahmou.

It has been an epic failure to understand what we had lost and do very little to replace it. Imo its the main reason we are where we are right now. A laughing stock!

Regardless of who coaches this mess not much will change without some on field leadership. For that reason we need at least 3 good quality on field leaders.More if we can release some contracted players who arent shaping up.

Hastings and Doueihi are what i would call on field leaders but we need to add to that.

Luke Thompson and John Bateman would also help if we could fluke one of them.

The cupboard is pretty bare, we have left it too late to identify the problem.

Hopefully a couple more senior players are set to be shopped around, we sure as hell need them.

Luch is better than him. Better defensively and more run metres. Also has an offload.
