He was one of my favs so I can’t say I’m happy to see him go. Alot of attacking flair came from him, through a break or off load. Despite this I have no issue with the club not going to $700k. The problem now is that we need to hold him to his contract unless we get something in return. We can’t keep being the roll over club that allows players to break contracts while we wait for players we sign early to fulfil their contracts at other clubs. Big stand needs to be taken here.

I was thinking along those lines with Aloiai and Matterson but not with Luciano. You are right he offers something different in attack but then the other team gets the ball and he goes for smoko. Wests Tigers can’t afford to carry a guy like him. Plainly and simply he can’t defend.

He was never a 80 minute player. You play him for 60 minutes and I reckon he wouldn’t have been as bad. Still don’t think he’s worth anything more then $500k.

I think he should have been playing in 20 min spurts too but I think it’s more a mobility issue rather than fitness. I also think Tauomolo has started to struggle with the increased speed of the ruck. Cows not looking too good in my eyes.

Talk of Blore and Tuilagi is premature if we can’t lock them up. If they leave it is the next lot of kids coming through.

Blore already re-signed in 2020 - until end of 2023. So at least no other club can speak to him until November 2022.

Looks good in the photos. If ever a breakout season was needed!

Interesting that apparently the dogs are shopping Cotric around but he is reluctant to come here.

If he wants to play in the centres would not have a better opportunity.

I hope it is media spin but there does seem to be a significant problem recruiting and retaining talent.

Cotric has told the club he doesn’t want to join us…..cause we are not a wining club

Don’t take any notice of what they say, I’d be more than happy to spend every penny on forwards and hope some youngsters surprise us in the backs. Been pushed around too long.

DT article also says his priority "would be a return home to the ACT."

Why didn’t the cows go after Pap from parra like we did , he is a better all rounder then Luc , but I’m ok with us going after him and getting him we just need to do the same again , secure 3 guns in positions we need filled and we will be very competitive , Centre , Hard head prop , and ?

Think they did. Papali wanted to remain in Sydney.

Only one defensive liability left now damn we must have some money! Would love Bateman and Thompson

I can think of more than one

Stick a lockdown second rower on Noffa’s side and we might not have to watch him do so many butterfly impersonations. It’s amazing what a good defensive second rower can do !

Maybe , but to think Nofa doesn’t chase the glory intercept rather than hold the line and bundle his man into touch , is to deny the fundamental truth .
I like nofa , but he’s definitely a mug lair .
The Morris boys are the poster children for backline defence because they seemed to play the percentages. .
It’s why Nofa is the perfect tigers player .

Lmao very well said

I mean good luck to the guy if he’s been able to convince an NRL team to pay him $700k a year given his known defensive issues and injuries. His output certainly deteriorated over the year. He probably peaked in the trial against Manly. Would I have liked to keep him? Sure. Potentially he’s a good attacking weapon. Is he worth more than Papali’i? No. Is he worth substantially more than Luke Garner or the other kids coming through? No.

Best case scenario we squeeze some more juice out of him in 22 and possibly give Manly the irrits because Garner is no longer surplus to requirements.

To be honest holding firm on Hodgson and Lucy has been encouraging so far as how the club conducts business. If we can dig up a top line half though…

I’ve met the bloke,
Why worry about recruitment and retention choices or background info checks when that isn’t your job/nor does it mean we have any said speculated recruitment problem.

Lot of younger guys don’t seem to have the same dogmatic mindset that if... the footy players... aren’t winning footy games which they’re paid handsomely to do - we want our staff members and coaching team sorting the wheat from the chaff!

I want the club ran in the same frame of mind that I do it daily. I’m trying to get in contact with SOMEBODY who will give me a nibble regarding Manu and a Madge connection (there is one, he is well liked).

Let’s cut the BS before the season starts. Who did we miss that was actually damaging to our reputation and that we did not actively put a deadline on first, in order to avoid getting played

Have your cake and eat it? Latrell spent the entire year trying to take my boys out

And the golden boy can’t scrap to save himself

I never, ever wanted a grubby dirtbag “woah is me, I’ll always need sympathy” *despite* getting what he clearly wanted? Who are you laying the blame for this at? Media or club...

What if we got Hodgson AND Thompson?
Hodgson could impart his wisdom of the Hooking role on Liddsy and Simmo. Robbie Farah's still in the house, and I always thought Hodgo was very similar in his toughness, craftiness and skill-set to Robbie, so I feel like they'd be on the same page in nurturing the young 9's. One on the field and one off it...best of both worlds. We could use Hodgo in tandem with one of the younger guys to pace him and reduce the chance of injury to himself and fatigue for the sub.
Regarding Thompson, he's got the foundations of a bloody good footballer. He's just young in the head and lacks control (so many suspensions). He's a hard-nut but he hit the training hard during his 2-week isolation upon landing in Aus. so he has drive and motivation.
Hodgo grew up tough, his brother was a career crim, so he knows the type, plus the fact they're both Poms - instant rapport.
With Hodgson's guidance he might learn to control his temperament and realise his potential... The best part being the Tigers jerseys they'd both be wearing if and when they kicked on.
Just makes sense to me.
Having said that, it's a gamble to take on contract money and like everyone else, I'm sick of us being door-mats. I'm happy to play hard-ball and not roll-over so easily, so if Hodgo's out of reach then so be it. I sense a new-found strength in the club and I have renewed faith in the powers that be.

Both make the 17 in 2023, along with Seyfarth.

Is cotric going back to Canberra? Heard he's leaving dogs

Apparently - dogs want to offload him and he wants out of Sydney - maybe Hodgson will end up at the dogs although wouldn't help their cap.
