Dudley’s gone mate. Nothing official yet, big city isn’t suiting.

Yep, heard that too.

Well that would be incredibly disappointing. We go to the effort of having talks and signing an elite young player and he calls it quits after a week? Sure it's a big culture shock for him, but he surely has to at least try. He's got a few mates joining him in the coming weeks too, which should make it easier too.
Surely living in Campbeltown isn't that far removed from Cairns?!

Hopefully he hasn't just given up completely and the club can still work out some arrangements to make him feel more comfortable away from his home.

I am sure that the club would be trying to do everything they can to give him the support he needs so he can adjust to life in the city but it still could be a forlorn hope

Yeah, he's a young man trying to adjust to a new environment that is a chalk and cheese like difference to that which Dudley is used to. 50/50 like chance of youngsters dealing with such change, so let him go and good luck to him in his potential career.

Can someone tell me with all these signings & offers, are we in danger of not being able to secure Stef?

Maybe he misses family, but seriously soccer players relocate to the other side of the world much younger than this. If you want to succeed, you have to get a bit uncomfortable.

I’d like to think that by signing better players around him, should make it easier for him to stay?

Nothing official from the club yet, hoping it’s still saveable. But it’s the type of thing if it wasn’t, it would be a quiet exit as well if you get me. They won’t draw too much attention to it.

I get that tiger-ferret but our track record doesn't really ooze with success hey! I guess when we look back at these posts in 3 years time after winning the comp we'll have a chuckle

I’ve seen a young bloke forego an overseas rugby opportunity for a chick only for her to dump him 6months later. Probably says more about him than it does about her.

Michael O’Louglin (Swans legend) said when he came to Sydney from the country as a 17 year old he cried to his mum on the phone every night for weeks.
Not saying it’s easy for these country kids but perhaps in some cases it comes down to how badly you want it

Of course it's going to be a significant change for him. He would have known this. I've no doubt he'd be finding it tough in the early days. But many players have gone through this and thrived after the initial teething issues.

It's not as if he's living in the CBD. Cairns is a town of 150k, living in the SW where it's semi-rural should ease him in to life in a big city. Once Cathane and the halfback from Kirwan arrives it will help, Tuki has also experienced the transition recently, and even if one of Nenai or Luki arrive that will also help.

He has to stick it out until mid January at least, and given we've been targeting players with certain character traits surely this issue would have been known well in advance and have systems in place to help

My brother in law turned down a storm contract about 15 years ago over a girl. Lasted about the same amount of time.
Still call him a dickhead over it

He signed a contract to move to Sydney for at least 2 years. To say it's all a bit tough after a week in unacceptable. Either he wants to try become a professional footy player or he doesn't.

No, I am saying that he simply does not have the drive to hang in there to see what its like at the other end.

Even if he goes back to NQLD and joins the Cowboys, will he only play home games, not away games?
