I don't get the lack of love for JTJ. I thought he looked dangerous when he had the ball this year, it's just that he didn't see enough of it.

Definitely VALUE for the price tag. Value is everything in this game.

We don't need value, we have a squad full of backup players. We need quality, and have heaps of cap, probably more than any other club. Signing rejects that haven't played well in years because they're cheap is just tragic. His defence has always been crap. He doesn't work that hard, he's not versatile. Pretty much exclusively a centre.

Unless we're signing someone for 6-700k on our last player and needed someone else on peanuts then this is just absurd. He was on a train and trial and could have played if we got a huge amount of injuries.

If you needed any more sign that we're giving up on 2022 this would be it

Signings for 2022 are still pretty light.

Yes, close to non existent

Gildart - Great Britain international
Hastings - GB international
Maumalo - NZ International
Tupou - ACT Brumbies and star raiders Junior
Peachey - recent NSW origin player

1 was here last year, 3 have no recent NRL experience and the last is a 30 year old that could not hold down a starting position at the Titans.

If we were semi finalists who had kept most of our roster, tinkering around the edges is acceptable. We needed major improvement and these guys are not that.

When your best 17 includes Kepoa, Garner and a question mark at centre, you are behind the eight ball to start with

I'm sorry but that is a falsehood regarding Peachey. By the end of the season he was first choice 5/8 for the Titans who played in the finals, he was picked ahead of a bloke they were paying $1mill a season

Maybe, but they showed him the door. GC

Maybe , but they showed him the door. . GC clearly didn’t rate him . His selection was probably “ best of a bad bunch” senerio . If he has the talent , clearly his attitude must of sucked. GC had the dollars to keep him & let go of him for a reason.

How do they have the $$$ to keep him, They've got 3 million dollars worth of back rowers...
And were looking to spend a mill or there abouts on a hooker.
He played Origin playing for them... Filled in all over the place.

He's on 1/3 of the money we were paying Mbye last year and is Twice the footballer....
Get real... Best signing we've made in a dogs age.... Fills in anywhere on the park bar maybe wing and prop.
Not only does he fill in, He can actually contribute.
Smart, Smart signing.

Again, if he is “good value signing “as you say

If he is a “good value signing” as you say why did GC let him go? Example- Daine Laurie a “ good value signing “ There is NO WAY we would let him leave without an substantial offer. Peachey shown the door for a reason .

So why did Penrith let Laurie go?

Because we had signed him for this year and they wanted a centre, so we swapped Momo for him last season?

BB you hit the nail on the head. The last thing we need is another so called depth player and if they are going down this track for what even reason, give the contract to a kid with potentially a big future.

Reports of Peachy wanting to return to Sydney have been going for a while...

Was talks of a Penrith return, 12 months or so ago.

Heart wants what the heart wants.

He's on a mutually beneficial contract.

Peachy will provide some in game experience and a little eyes up footy.

From Newcastle Herald....

Despite denials that Luke Brooks wants out and is keen for a release from his club, the Knights continue to monitor the situation between the halfback and the Wests Tigers with a view to potentially signing him if he was to become available in the New Year

From Newcastle Herald....

Despite denials that Luke Brooks wants out and is keen for a release from his club, the Knights continue to monitor the situation between the halfback and the Wests Tigers with a view to potentially signing him if he was to become available in the New Year

They just won't leave it alone. If he did want out I would say he would be gone by now. I wonder if the Newcastle Herald is part of News Ltd

Was that article from Barry Toohey, he is the mouth piece for the Knights.
Still interfering trying to get Luke released, he should butt out.

100% Toohey is basically Newcastle pr
they are desperate for a 7
we will not release Brooks when we have douhie out and an unproven Hastings at nrl level
next year who knows for brooks but he will be here for 2022 for sure

Yea, from Barry.

I still boggles my mind we won't release him. At best we're coming what? 11th? 12th? Hastings might be unproven at NRL level but Brooks has proven he's average at his absolute best, so what's there to lose? We save cap space, give Madden/another fringe FGer/young bloke a run and see what they're like, and then at midseason go forward with Doueihi and Hastings in the halves.

Depth.
We need someone in case Hastings gets injured.

Same reason a top 8 team is chasing him. NRL quality player leading a poor roster.
