I was really disappointed with Benji's response last night on 360. It was was the perfect opportunity to respond to Kent's (very obvious) cues, and call out last Sunday's performance for what it was - poor. His replies reflect the club as a whole - '3 other teams are on 0 & 2', 'we have a new team this year and things will change', 'I don't know what the problem is', 'the tigers get bagged in the media more than anyone else' etc etc.
Love him or hate him, P. Kent is sticking it to the Tigers atm because he is hearing the fans and their years of frustration. I say the media should give it to us more!! At the end, Kent gave up on Benji because his responses were so lame, and Benji laughed at him.
The rotten culture has existed for over a decade and will continue to do so for a while to come.

I like Kenty.

You can tell he has a soft spot for the Tigers and I think he's trying to get the frustration from the fans out in the media and convey that we suffer unlike any fanbase. It's the first talking head that I've heard refer to the fans who have invested so much of their energy over the last 10 years and that this situation, with our team, is different to other clubs' supporters. It's like someone, somewhere, kinda gets it.

I'm not convinced there has been a rotten culture for a decade or more. I think we've typically fielded lower quality squads and we've managed our cap poorly.

I think this team now has a poor culture. On the flip side I think we have better players and we are recruiting well. I also think you can turn around the culture much more easily than improving the squad and cap.

I'd like to agree with you and after the Storm game, I thought we were finally on the way up. Last week, however.... It just seems like groundhog day.

Again, Our squad is poor... On paper - I wouldn't back us to beat any other side bar a couple in the comp, We're bested in most positions. The competition level of some of the players bigged up here and elsewhere also confirms this...

I heard Benji say it wasn't first grade standard which is odd, Considering I saw multiple team / performances he was involved in that were very similar - With much better players....
Getting lapped by Souths by 40 odd points in 2010 (We finished top 4) they finished 9th Springs to mind.

Souths are runners up and got lapped by 50 odd last year... TWICE!! Teams don't turn up....

We are more popular than we know, No one is talking about the team below us on the ladder that include the current Australian Captain and Current Dally M Winner - As well as a host of other top tier rep players... They're talking about us losing.

Culture? No one is talking about the Dragons that have had 3 Sexual Natured Assault charges out of the Dragons in the last 3 years - They're talking about Tigers on the Pokies at 9pm....

We've had a fair few blokes over the years that always had a never-give-in attitude. Darren Senter was a good example.
Our club doesn't seem to rate these sort of players very highly compared to flighty blokes that play 2 great games a year. Letting Corey Thompson go was another example of this, and a massive mistake (notwithstanding he has been injured a hell of a lot since going to the Titans).
When we sign new players their attitude to the contest should be our first and only priority. Papali'i looks to have that trait. Our club is screaming out for players that never say die, I'd rather a team stacked with those sort of players than flashy tryhards who only put in when they can be bothered doing so.

The young superstars went Hollywood and we lost all that old school bottle.... In 05 we had enough of them left to control it...

And just on culture - shared values, beliefs, behaviours - I think in rugby league it is the coach and a group of players that start a culture. Whether that culture stays in a club depends on other coaches and other groups of players.

I think back to Canterbury’s “dogs of war” period. Nobody can say that the current coach and players at Canterbury think they are dogs of war. Canterbury were also once described as ‘the entertainers’, that’s not true now either.

We need a coach who can start a new culture - Maguire’s not him and neither is this group of players.

Weve been trying that on for years..You cant manafacture culture, its something that grows organically. The players are the ones that bring it not the coaches. Cleary is a good coach, part of the reason is, is because he knows when to take a step back. I guarentee you he doesnt harang the players for the type of music they play, how loud, or call a meeting when the boys get together and post photos with westside and peace hand signs ... Let the boys be boys

According to a very good friend of mine who's tied up with bulldogs juniors (sg ball), Mr Mac has made and approach to 2 bulldogs reseve graders to come across, one has had nrl experience the other hasn't. Both weighing up there options, one on contract the other on train and trial.

Hopefully one is Aaron Schoupp...centre with plenty of upside imo

They get angry when the companies say no. Egos getting knocked down a peg.

That’s thing thing though. How many times in the last couple years have we put in a big effort where we have nearly rolled a premiership heavyweight which gets you to believing that it’s a turning point, only to come out the very next week and lose to a side down the bottom of the ladder. It’s a re-occurring theme.

Yeah we always seem to poop the bed against lower ranked teams. Maybe the strategy is to get to the bottom so there are no lower ranked team then watch us fly!
