RTSHere is something to ponder, in the last 10yrs or more does anyone recollect any east player that east want to keep being taken from them by another club
Crighton example,
east have resigned him with no offers being made by other clubs to obtain him, at least I think. And all the superstars they have, when there contracts are due for renewal they dont go to market, they just resign with east, but myself, I would want to check out my value on the market before signing with anybody, does anyone else see it this way, or is it just my imagination.
yea right and then you have players and RLPA continually ramming home the fact that a playing career is short and players need to be paid more. So what do the rorters players do - stay at easts for far less money than they could get on the open market. Total BS.While I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if the Roosters are rorting, according to organisational research the practices below are more important drivers of engagement/retention than remuneration and benefits. A comparison of us versus Roosters on these provides some insight as to why Roosters players might stay where they are for less money:
Success - Roosters (make the finals almost every year, win a few premierships) Tigers (10+ years without finals)
Wellbeing - Roosters (rest players until fully recovered, take head knocks seriously) Tigers (under Madge guys were asked to play injured and we still kinda see this a little, e.g Ken M never looks fully fit)
Values - Roosters (sell players on pride in their history and their book of fueds rivalry with souths) Tigers (media tells everyone that we struggle with our identity)
Leadership - Roosters (Successful father figures to provide life advice and post career support in Uncle Nick and Robbo) Tigers (Lee and Pascoe)
Career Opportunities - Roosters (Rookies learning off guns and veterans, with very few mid range players; sacking players to upgrade a position - such as Cheese told to come and he’ll be given an opportunity to play hooker with Verrils dumped) Tigers (Struggled with development recently but this will be a focus ongoing)
Involvement/Empowerment (not too sure about Roosters approach, Tigers under Madge seemed a bit more command and control)
Recruitment - Roosters (join us and you can learn from a team of rep players) Tigers (join us and the pressure will be on you to perform as our only rep player)
Cross Unit cooperation - Roosters (regularly talk about a one club approach where everyone in the entire club plays a roll in success and all are respected - from the chairman to the strapper), Tigers (??!Can’t comment as I’m not really sure what communication and respect is like between football and non-football staff)
Thanks for the info, I hope your mate is right.Mate of mine is in regular contact with the recruitment blokes. Regularly gets his inside info.
He reckons...
Brooks WILL push for a release in the coming weeks...
The smart money says Brooks will be pulling on a Dolphins jersey next season. For whatever reason, he has never managed to find the right groove with WT. I won't shit on him, however he's given some sound performances over the years, although he will be happier elsewhere and might even fulfil his potential. Luke just needs a fresh start. Brooks and Tigers parting ways is best for both parties.
What about the young backs in our system - Scolari, Tupou, Bula, Kirk and the rugby convert? Surely there has to be progression? If that’s our best side then we can get the cabinet ready for another wooden spoon , we must have well over $ 2,000,000 to spent in the cap , and that is the best team we can come up with 💩💩💩💩
Has The Pom come on anywhere of late with any info coming up on any player we are are looking at or close to getting signed up , we need a solid update as it seems other clubs are on the ball and we are just sitting back
FactsIf it is, I'm sorry to say it is likely to finish in the bottom 5. While it is a much better side than 2022, it is 2 or 3 players short of a top 8 side. If either Madden or Brooks are the starting half we will struggle. Forwards are top 8 standard if Blore steps up but the backs are very average.

to put it mildly, we must drastically change the direction and end up with this mediocrity,Then our halves are what?
Madden and Brooks ?
They seem to want Jacko to stay at 13.
That seems a concern for me.
Very similar players.
I think we have issues lol
IMHO, we need at least three (3) new aggressive props, and two (2) 2nd rowers.Na.... No way
- I could count on one hand when our pack has matched the opposition this year
(And still hold an Ice Cream)
Blore returning doesn't replace Garner and Luciano (We're already backrowers short)
Api and Paps will certainly improve us.... Both are a heap of Footy off joining us though - With both headed to the WC.
But our pack lacks sooo much.... No desire, no mongrel, zero intimidators - Papi and Api will give us options but no Mongrel or Intimidation.
Matt Lodge anyone?
Garner, Look I like Garner but he was always a fingie kind of player. His last 5-6 games were probably his best, the rest were justification on why we punted him.Nice comments, but we have a terrrible roster. As the song goes- you have to know when to throw them,- and you have to know when to hold them. Lucy, and Garner out two best now gone! Two quality coming, and at least 5 that should not be renewed, But the Tigers percervere with duds.
Yes the above list looks incredible and no way Easts can fit them under the cap for multiple years. The NRL say the salary cap was brought in to make it an even playing field but its nowhere near it and they don't give a shit.. Integrity ... WHAT Integrity..
Roosters next year
Collins - QLD SOO Player
Angus Crichton - SOO player
Luke Keary - SOO player
Manu - NZ Rep
Radley - SOO and Eng Rep
Brendan Smith = NZ Rep
J Suaalii - SOO Reserve
Teddy - SOO and AUS
Daniel Tupou - SOO Player
JWH - NZ Rep
S Tupouniua - NZ Rep player
Sam Walker - Future SOO player
Some others that of course will be there :
Lodge - SOO Player
Nat Butcher
Of course they are losing these top ended players that would had to of been on 1.4mil each to accommodate the 13 rep players left:
Verrills
Naiqama
Tuakaiaho
Dead set there is like 13 rep players there and of course they are under the cap..
There is no way in hell these guys are not getting looked after on the side through TPA and special golf games etc...
If the NRL are serious they need to bring in a points system or take away the TPA or at least cap them.
He we are with all this money and cannot attract 1 of these guys because they are happy to stay where they are for 400k less.. Please ....
Their's my rant and it's now off my chest .... (Disclaimer - I know we need to get our own back yard fixed first but it hard when this shit happens)
First game us vs Newcastle.Na.... No way

Still a long way to go till we are a top 8 side. We really need some juniors to hit the ground running. Is this full strength 2023 ?

2 Starford Toa (Nofo, IF he returns)
3 AJ Kepoa
4 Brent Naden
5 Ken Maumalo
6 Adam Douihei
7 Jock Madden or Luke Brooks
8 Joe Ofahengauie
9 Api Korosau
10 Stefano Utoikamanu
11 Shawn Blore
12 Isahia Papali'i
13 Jackson Hastings
14 Alex Twal
15 Fonua Pole
16 Zane Musgrove

I'd take Matt Lodge in a heartbeat because he will improve us and give us the mongrel you talk about. But, we will be a better pack next year and in my opinion a top 8 pack. Api and Papi are big improvements, Pole will play a full season and be better than this year, Stefano will be back and will be much better if he stays injury free. A couple of the younger blokes (e.g Matamua) will likely come through. Blore is the risk, he could be great, he could be average or he could be injured again. If we have a reasonable run with injuries, I stand by my post.Na.... No way
