Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Its now over a year since we signed any stars and now all this talk about Douehi and Hastings like we are struggling to keep these two semi stars we already have ? With recruitment admit it ! Its like apollo 13 said
" Houston we have a problem "
It sounds worse when we consider that the current coaching team didn’t sign those two stars.
But we managed to sign Houston, who could be good? Depends how long it takes him to learn the game?

Douhie must have had to many knocks in the head to expect that much money for his services....
A reasonable player at NRL level, plays centre, fullback and demands to play 5/8..
You would expect to pay that money for a specialist halves player with experience and knowledge of the position after years in that position...
I would say Hastings provides experience, leadership and football smarts for about $300k per year is what I would say his worth is...Man of steel award in ESL as part of his resume and is just as versatile as AD,his 13 role he played this year shows that..
AD has some quality about him,but injuries and his demands may be better off elsewhere....

Hmmm, shopping himself to a rival club as a no 7 for $900,000... he is definitely trying to land at the knights because he knows how desperate they actually are for a half.

Puts his passion for the club into perspective. His only reason for wanting to play in the halves is that he wants top dollar.

I'd tell him we don't view him as a spine player and we are going to play him as a utility or edge backrower. If he sooks he can play reserve grade.

Problem solved.

There’s something to admire in Doueihi’s declaration.
Kinda reminds me of the time Moses put himself out there asking for $900k.
It shows some arrogance, sure, but more than that it’s a sign of self belief, a view of how he sees his future.
I’ve seen a few graduates with the same sort of bravado ask for and get good salaries because they are convinced the will live up to their self perceived value.

just think 2024 the lure may be two fold
Moses wants to play with Brooks
Brooks prepared to play for less to play with his mate Moses and be a one club player and coached by sheens
This time roles reversed
7. Moses
6. Brooks

Tigers then take the 900k for Douhie and 500k for Hastings along with a reduce rate for brooks (1 million to 750k)

That should leave up to 1.6 million to land Moses

Doueihi set to manage himself

Wests Tigers playmaker Adam Doueihi is taking over his own management and has placed a hefty price tag on his services.

Doueihi has been selling himself as a No.7 or No.6 to a rival club and is after a three-year deal worth at least $900,000 a season. I’ve been told by those with knowledge of the situation he wants a minimum of $850,000 for the first season, with his price going up in future years.

With a dearth of quality No.7s in the competition, it’s a good tactic, but it remains to be seen if a club will go for that price. He is a quality player, but has had knee issues in the past. Even with healthy legs, he is going to need a breakout season to reach that level of income.

There are about half-a-dozen $1 million halves in the NRL, headed by Nathan Cleary, Cameron Munster and Daly Cherry-Evans, but Doueihi is not in that class.

The Tigers’ roster is better than it has been and if he can cash in on good service from the likes of Api Koroisau, Jackson Hastings and maybe Luke Brooks he may mount a case for an upgrade.

Need some of the drugs he's on if he thinks he's worth that.

Well that all makes sense( except pay gap between AD and JH, imo more like 650 ea) but when do you think we might know ?

You and me both. I'm in shock. His career is on the line. He mightn't make it in the halves, he isn't a fullback, he is a liability in the centres defensively or in any position.

I'll go and ask for 900k of other teams and see if they are stupid enough to have a bite.

Well he’s certainly not a $8-900k player, yet.
He’s got to keep that educated ego in the real world.
My opinion on him is he is a centre trying to transition to 6, he needs to work on his defence and ability to create space for those around him to make that transition. I am happy for him to continue that transition but it wouldn't be paying him as a half, it would be paying him as a centre until he can show those improvements.
