Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Credit to Hastings.

Outstanding return/comeback season(albeit interrupted by suspensions and injury) and showed a lot more positive than negative.

He deserves better what this club is alleged or rumoured to be doing to h
Lol closer to ever before

Yeah it’s confusing brother
I have to agree
Brooks has never played behind a dominant pack because he can't organise. We've had plenty of good forwards in his time here.

Why did the same pack with Hastings in the 7 hold up against teams like the Storm, Parra, Souths etc but couldn't do so when Brooks was in the 7 instead.

God I don't get this club.

They'll end up punching on for sure.
Probably make our halves pair look bad.

The old over and end kick. Of all the Tigers on field issues, that kick from 50m over and end that does nothing annoys me the most 🙄
Take a ball down the park, get three big blokes to sprint at you really quick and try to do any different with about 1.5 secs to get a kick away. Better forwards will help.

Clarke might be an option for ‘24. would make sense considering Maumalo’s contract runs out end of this year and the RWC will be done. probably a pipe dream at this point but stranger things have happened.

He plays on the same side too left
wing. Mutual option for Maumalo
In '24. Clarke would be our biggest
singing in the club's history.. wow

Gotta say that overall this has been the best roster improvement the club has had for a long time. I’d probably rather Brooks/Hastings over Douihei/Brooks but we’re talking possibly 4 or more genuine class players coming in.

I worry what the backup plan is if AD doesn’t work out. I assume we get Laurie at 6 unless there’s a standout in the lower grades.

Something people said about Dale Finucane at the Sharks.. "he upgraded our game".

What concerns me is our front row needs an upgrade, someone who will help them train better. I think Tamou could have been that but he can't carry the pack himself. Tamou working with Martin and Isaah and all those Penrith young players worked well for him. It did not happen here, and I don't get that.

We need to have a good hard look at the WT as to why Tamou and our pack did not fire. All attention seems ot be on 1-7. Without go-forward as we saw last year..... WE are dead. We had Nathan Cayless, a great player and we had Tamou with our pack. We were steamrolled. Why?
We didn’t have Fisher-Harris, Yeo, Martin, Kikau, Leniu. Etc etc etc

a classy centre on $600

Nothing on RTS
But Caleb Clarke could be a surprise pick-up.
Mate all the cap space getting good players have we hired the trainee accountant from the Rooster's ? or did lending players and releasing players really help the cap so much ?

Did someone say big Ken mite be a medical retirement because of his knee ?

Hard to know what's really going on with anyone but didn't Brooks or his agent say a while back that he was likely to go elsewhere when his WT deal is up at the end of next year. That said, now looks like we are looking to swap Hastings for Klemmer with the Knights. And what happened to the story about Woods returning to play a final year with us?
Time to hate me forum!

Why not bring back Woods + Andrew Fifita for one year.

Seriously of all the old tigers we are carrying we could do worse. Moreover they set a standard, I know Woods hasn't lately played well. In almost every team he lowers the forward bar. Here, if Woods could be brought for unders (and he may just realise that the longer he plays, the longer his TV career will be) You would have someone who would upgrade the our squad.

Andrew Fifita in his time was a gun player, if it was on he was on, if it was off he was off. Inconsistent but ferocious.

Both I would start at Bench or reserves and were talking not much more then 200k each. (we might just get them at that price because Fifita has recently retired and Woods is close). Even trial and train, nothing that would commit us to serious cap money or long term contracts.

Why? It really worries me when people say you need 7 Props, 2 for the game, 2 for the bench 2 for when those two get injured and a spare or two. Our forward pack is so light on and if Sheens/Marshall does not get it firing then we are in trouble.

Ehhh, its a a start. Losing Hastings hurts any short-term success we'll have. We won't win the wooden spoon at least. Our forward pack is fine but we're relying on a few too many young blokes. And the Knights... talk about an overpay.

I'm very interested to see how well we are coached this season as the last two years were terrible. I like this move for Brooks, who is in his prime athletically and really should be playing better. Hopefully he gets the grubber back.
Across the game the short grubber is used less since the introduction of the seven tackle set. I think people forget that. You’re better off hitting opponents legs than whacking it dead.
