Some thoughts:
1. I think clearing out the dead wood is a bigger achievement than the signings.
2. The halves and backs should look better behind a more competitive (dare I say “dominant”?) pack.
3. If we can add an improvement to the coaching and game plan on top of the improved roster we will get another bump in performance.
4. The club is getting very close to being perfectly set up with enough experienced talent in the top 30 and the pathways stacked for the future (not to mention financially strong). This will let us choose who we let go when we want to bring a star junior through. I don’t believe the salary cap position or the contract lengths should inhibit this (although I do wonder if Kotogua is a risk with both IP and Bateman on 3 year deals).
5. Better on field performance will lead to better off field performance financially through membership, merchandising, sponsorship, attendance, etc.
Overall, everything is looking positive.
