The Sheens bashers have been awfully quiet of late
More importantly ,what you do with it! Very few sub standard or ordinary panic buys, though we still have a couple to move on. We have had a habit of replacing crap with crap, that is why we failed so badly.Yep it’s amazing what you can do when you have ‘huge’ cap space in your first year in charge.
Sheens will be judged on his results like all those before him and as he was the first time around. Recruitment/resource wise he/ club have done well in the off season there is no denying that. The

Just think of the last few signings under Madge compared to the last few months. Klem for Tamou, Bateman for Garner etc. It’s chalk and cheese and Sheensy must be congratulated. I can’t think of a team that has had this turn around in a few short months.More importantly ,what you do with it! We need Seyfarth like we need a hole in the headI don't think Seyfarth. If we have a couple of injuries in the back row we have next to no replacements so we really need him.

Other than Cleary, most coaches before Sheens could only afford reserve grade signings, because the cap was that far out of shape, Sheens appointment has been at a fortunate time in respect of the cap position plus recent NRL cap increase what would have been the signing outcomes if he was appointed instead of Madge 3 years ago after Cleary’s spending spree. It all needs to be put into perspective of the prevailing circumstances.More importantly ,what you do with it! Very few sub standard or ordinary panic buys, though we still have a couple to move on. Sheens has let go a heap that were still under contract therefore having spare cash. No other coach has been able to do this. Credit where it is due.Other than Cleary, most coaches before Sheens could only afford reserve grade signings, because the cap was that far out of shape, Sheens appointment has been at a fortunate time in respect of the cap position plus recent NRL cap increase what would have been the signing outcomes if he was appointed instead of Madge 3 years ago after Cleary’s spending spree. Agreed - but we haven't lost a game yet either. This forum is unrecognisable to all doom and gloom - "we will never have a chance, we must relocate or merge", under our ex-coach!
The salary cap has gone up. It's reasonable for a Topline halfback. Not if 20% of that is in TPA contributions.
Madge had 4 years not 3 to fix the problem. At the beginning of last season every member of the 30 man squad were either signed or extended by Madge. It was entirely his squad that he built, and it won the spoonOther than Cleary, most coaches before Sheens could only afford reserve grade signings, because the cap was that far out of shape, Sheens appointment has been at a fortunate time in respect of the cap position plus recent NRL cap increase what would have been the signing outcomes if he was appointed instead of Madge 3 years ago after Cleary’s spending spree. Other coachs had Pascoe and Hartigan calling the shots too.Sheens has let go a heap that were still under contract therefore having spare cash. No other coach has been able to do this. Credit where it is due.
Yep he has got rid of some average players, but that’s all his predecessors could afford. What could have others done with the cap space available to Sheens, not forgetting Madge had already started the rebuild by ‘attracting’ API and IP , a pretty good start.Sheens has let go a heap that were still under contract therefore having spare cash. That’s where the likes of Matamua and Kautoga will get their chances during the season.I don't think Seyfarth. If we have a couple of injuries in the back row we have next to no replacements so we really need him.
Madge kept buying crap like bj, jimmy the jet, Tamou etc.The place was on the nose and so was his coaching. Sheens has turned it around and I expect major improvement next year under his leadership.Yep he has got rid of some average players, but that’s all his predecessors could afford.
