Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Its pretty funny seeing people not wanting Moses over what happened in the past. Reminds me a lot of some members who used to keep the whole "that player doesn't belong here because he has been naughty and doesn't uphold the magnificent standards of our club" vibe. Worked pretty well resulting in more than a decade of absolute mediocrity.
I didn't ever want Isaac Moses to be dealing with our club again either(In fact I think at the time i said none of the 3 players should ever put a foot on leichhardt again) but he has some pretty handy players on his books. So what choice does it leave? We play in a competition, the whole objective is to win.
Mitchell Moses has gone on to become a very good player. He ticks a lot of boxes we need covered and we instantly become a much better side if he is in it. Those are all facts.
I hope we get his signature, It will speed up our path back to the 8 and get us winning far more football games. After all, the only reason the club is in a competition, is to compete and hopefully win.

Good post. It is objective.

Those aren’t facts, they are presumptions.

Have they mishandled, or just handled?

They have Dylan Brown and Jakob Arthur. Brad Arthur wants his son at Halfback, Eels are looking at Nathan Cleary going "wow we have one half up an coming in Arthur"...

In fact I reckon were reading the whole situation wrong. Moses knows the writing is on the wall, he has been a money whinger and Brad Arthur ain't keeping him over his son. Parra probably regret offloading Mahoney, although this makes sense now as they want an experienced hooker to give a good start to their halves.

Could the Tigers be getting pumped? Was Moses always on the Chopping block at the eels? if not 2023 then 2024 or 25?
Or we just offered Moses more money. 🤔

Small snippet in the article which I found interesting:

“I’ve handled the talk about it [better]. I’ve blocked everything out, my management worries about those things. It allows me to focus on Parramatta and train good here, not come to training and be affected by what’s going to happen.

“I haven’t felt any pressure. I’ve handled it a lot better than in the past, you learn from those past negotiations and contract talks. Whatever happens, happens, I guess.”

The other selling point is the chance to reunite with former halves partner Luke Brooks, who has been encouraging Moses to make the shift.

“Me and Brooksy speak a lot, we’re best mates,” Moses said. “We speak all the time about everything. We’ve had a few conversations, me and Brooksy. My full focus this year is on Parramatta.

“Hopefully we get something sorted before the start of the year … You see all the talk but it hasn’t really come to me, I haven’t had to think about that side of it yet.”

sounds to me the offering of an olive branch from Mitch! All cool now mate welcome home 👍

Two things:

There’s no way Moses hasn’t been involved in a meeting with us, he has put a deadline for 3 weeks max - going to assume he doesn’t want to announce it in the lead up of the week to round 1 so it’ll probs be done any day from now til 14 days official. You’d assume with a decision so close on the “biggest of your life” he’d have has a tour of the club done before this timeframe.

Side note, the fact he brought up his past experiences of handling contracts and acknowledging being in the wrong - obvs referring to us is maybe sending a msg to Wests Tigers fans to potentially accept him if he comes??.... just something to consider

Secondly, I understand why some people may not be in favour of him coming due to our previous dealings with him - however, the magnitude of this signing can’t be ignored.

He’s arguably a top 3 halfback in the comp right now and is exactly what this clubs needs in order from people looking at us as a potential 10-12 team on our day - if Moses comes alongside Api (arguably the best hooker in the game) and Papalili (arguably best second rower in the game) - then you add the mongrel and experience of David Klemmer and John Bateman to lead the way for all our current crops and exciting future of Pole, Stefano, Faguata, Blore, Joffa, Jordan Miller etc. To our current crop now with AD, Laurie and Brooks.

We may be looked at under the right coaching as a potential competition threat, the whole way the tigers are viewed changes significantly if Moses come - recruitment wise with a fresh new talented team with plenty of players who can attract talent, our new faculties and the idea of potentially being coached by Benji could make us a massive draw

A few reasonable assumptions there.

I think if we had all our '23 acquisitions last season and we'd had a reasonable season to show that we were on the up, I think that would make the decision easier for Moses. Parra's premiership window has closed IMO, they've haemorrhaged some good players from their roster. We're still unproven though so there's no way to know whether the move would be a step in the right direction yet. I can't see us getting the spoon again. At best, if all the pieces fall into place we'll be lucky to challenge for 8th spot.

I was guilty of that in the past. I just want the best here now.

I'd have taken Hitler, Stalin and Mao if they could've played.

We have secured some solid players in this off season
Klemmer , API , Ice
these 3 make a team much different and Mitch would know it , Parra for me have missed the boat and lost players of quality , we have purchased quality and are back on the boat , top 8 for us Parra to miss it and run 9 th mosses knows which team will head north on ladder

You do realise that what we're offering Moses is the same % of the cap that Brooks is taking this season....
Still plenty of room for big money players ..
We have a few of contract at the end of the year , move them on buy one or two guns and hope that the gun kids can fill the rest

STAR'S SACRIFICE FOR FAMILY

Alex Seyfarth has given up the opportunity of a lifetime - for his unborn child.

The rangy forward is coming off contract at the Tigers at the end of this year and is no certainty to get a new deal.

The Warriors last week offered Seyfarth a lucrative three-year deal starting in 2024.

At 24, it was a great opportunity for Seyfarth, but he knocked it back because his wife is pregnant and they want to stay near family support in Sydney when the baby is born.

There are things in life bigger than football, and the Warriors understood Seyfarth's decision.

And Bateman. He is the one that will give us some steel in the middle.

Honestly, kinda wish he had taken it because we might have been able to ship him early and create a spare spot. but good for him for putting family above advancing his career.

Hopefully this doesn’t lead us into signing him out of guilt. If I was that guy I would signed up straight away. Get a nanny. Pretty sure he could afford one. Get the parents to come over. My wife is from Brazil (oh behave!), and we’ve had no help at all with my little Tito’s.

Bottom line - don’t resign Seyfarth. Plus, this also has me doubting how intelligent he is. What an idiot.

At the risk of going wildly off topic, I think there is a pretty big difference - there certainly is for me. I don't like how Moses left the club but I'm sensible enough to realise that it's a business and he was doing what he felt was right for him. He could have handled it better, but whatever: if he can help us win in future we'd be daft not to explore re-signing him.

Players with bad off-field records is different. It depends what the offence(s) is/are and I'm generally inclined not to care too much about young blokes doing stupid stuff when they get pissed up once in a while. But my membership money goes towards these people's wages, and I don't want to be funding - for instance - wife beaters. And actually, yes, if the price of on-field success was turning a blind eye to that sort of thing I'd rather not pay it. Call me a bleeding heart but we all have to draw a line somewhere, and that's mine.

Might also earn himself another 12 months.
Atleast he isn't going to ask for a release because he is home sick.

I’m certain he’s coming back now.

I remember quite a few NBA players like AD would say things like that “I’m fully committed to the Pelicans this year” and then the next year AD “That’s all folks”
