Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I watched him pretty closely on the weekend he had plenty of ticker I’m supper keen to see him he’s a branch spot soon
Yeah just think he still needs to bulk up abit more..

End of the season he get a few games.

Then next year he could be our 13.

Yeah your right. They are both similar. I feel that Twal has upped his game alot this year though. Lot faster and runs angles more.

Interesting times.

60/40 one way - Or the other...
Both have different skills over the other...
But essentially the same shape, And same player....
Joe certainly more versatile, And a better player
(Despite Twals improvement)

However, Joes' probably on a lot more money, And easier to move....
And the difference in output isn't really worth the back and forth over it.

I'd only have 1 in the 17 and should injury occur, Matamua and the likes are the replacements for them.

If we were to sign Frizell and move Bateman to the Middle....
That's a major upgrade to the Squad.

Otherwise, I'd be looking for more an impact forward to come from the Bench...
A Leota type wrecking ball or some such to change up the dynamic.
(Can't see Sheens doing it though, Can't remember him doing it before)

Still a baby....
Wouldn't even mind him groomed as a utility,
He's not real big.... Has ball played in juniors apparently.
Could be a real Halatau type middle...

No - its about balancing your roster. Its impractical having a bench prop on $600k when it is imperative that guys like Tupou and Toa get locked in past 2024. And to do that will require upgrades on their current contracts.
We already have the money for that.

Klemmer replaced him, Took his position in the squad and on the field...
Doing a more than decent job, That's an upgrade....

It was always going to be Twal or Joe...
I'd prefer Joe to stay - But Twal got the nod it seems...
(Joe probably easier to sell, Been around for less time all factors)

No 1st 17 in the comp would carry both, I have no problem that we're not either.
I'll reserve my judgement until we see who we have take up his spot in the top 30, which from what I understand has to be done by the end of June.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a mad panick over the next 6 weeks to try and find someone of a reasonable standard to make up the numbers so that we are cap compliant.

Good clubs would have something in the pipeline before the release took place and just like sacking the coach there was nothing in place, they thought they could give a 5 year contract to an unproven rookie coach with no NRL Head Coach experience and that he would jump at the opportunity.

We had a chairman come out and say we had 16 or 17 applications for the position and in the end we end up cobbling together a 5 year coaching plan that involves people that have no coaching experience what so ever.

Who does this sort of thing? Oh yeah that's right, St.George and coincidently they just happen to be in last position on the ladder with us.

Hope to be proved wrong and we manage to fill the position with a great signing in a position that we really need and that in the meantime we don't have a spate of injuries with our forwards and end up in the same position that the Parrasites ended up in that necessitated them signing Joe mid season.

Someone re signed him at the end of last season till 2025 mid season in - gone. How can you trust that anyone is capable of forward thinking when managing the roster based on the actions of this week. They are either all on the same page or they are not.

Not only that - Joes' farewell post seemed to indicate he started the day as a Tiger, Finished it as an Eel.
Not uncommon.

Said it everywhere, But Joe has been replaced already - By Klemmer.
Fair point in a way, but the big difference is that it was done well in advance and may have been a long term plan or just sheer luck and a coincidence that it worked out that way.

We actually got a good player first then worked on off loading a so called lesser player, this doesn't happen too often here as we seem to off load players with no apparent replacement in the pipeline and we just end up signing nuffies to make up the numbers.

Like I have said elsewhere, I really hope we don't have a couple of injuries in our forwards and end up in the same situation that Parramatta ended up in necessitating them to sign Joe.

I doubt if the clowns that run our club are in the same library let alone on the same page.Complete idiots

So why did they re-sign him to this deal six months ago?

Doesnt inspire a lot of confidence that they know what they are doing right?

talk of Latu Fainu. ... have not really followed him but one thing i must say.. he was very underwhelming on his debut in the NSW Cup game against the Magpies.. maybe nerves and has improved since? Had a barry crocker shocker that day.

WOW ... People are so negative towards the club and rightly so if it was 12-18 months ago.

Take away all the emotion and look at the facts as our club has done wonders over the last 12 months to turn this club around. We have offloaded most of the deadwood that were just happy to get a pay cheque and replaced with some serious talented players E.g. Bateman, Klemmer, Pap, Api and blooded players like Bula, Tupou, Pole, Starford To'a, Naden etc... Not sure what you all expect because we are building from the very bottom but for me we are 100% heading in the right direction and the playing group seem to be all in (Even after the tough start to the year) .

I love Joe O and will miss him greatly, but I have total faith in the team to replace him or upgrade the guys we don't want to lose E.g. Bula, Stef, Tupou etc.. (Ask yourself would you rather lose Joe O or a Bula / Tupou because we don't have the funds to keep them? I know my choice)

All we really need is a top line 7 and some nice back up players and we are building nicely.

There is a method to Sheen's madness and IMO is working perfectly and we are not getting belted like the past.

Anyway, just wanted to add a positive post and back what the club is doing.
This is an enjoyable post to read. Well written.

Yeah, but why balance it mid season? Parra are obviously struggling for depth, so why help them out when we are competing with them to make the eight?

It's as stupid as playing our home game against the warriors, in nz.

He’s the same age as our kids like Da Silva, Miller, Laulilii etc. who are still a while off NSW Cup.

For a 17-year-old to even be playing at that level is a feat in the modern game.

Don’t think he’ll be coming to us.
